The State of Jefferson is a proposed US state on the Pacific Coast...

The State of Jefferson is a proposed US state on the Pacific Coast. Originally a movement from the 1940's to create a separate state from California and Oregon, plans were halted due to the oncoming WW2. It has, however, returned in recent years, mostly as a movement to separate from California. It has gained decent traction in the past few months due to obvious problems with California infrastructure, and of course the Oroville Dam. The Republicans of California have had enough of the heavy blue states constant restrictions on them, and are trying, once and for all, to split from the iron grasp of Sacramento, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.

I wish you guys the best in this.

We don't need yet another republican state that will be a net taker from the federal coffers

can orange county come

Thanks Brit user. Separating from a powerful leftist state is challenging work.

You are too far south. Sorry Orange user.

>breaking up commiefornia

Yes pls.

The Northern Californians have been for too long neglected by California's government. It is time for separation.

This is a unique waste of time. Well done, honestly.

>Failing infrastructure.
>Corrupt government.
>Taxation with no benefits.
>Failed construction projects.

Is it any wonder why we want to separate from the State of False hope, California?

That's all of america you autist. The only false hope here is yours in this "state."

>giving Cali 4 dem senators
Something ain't right with the water up there man it's not worth the risk

You clearly don't know how the proposed state is republican. This is the republicans of California wanting to separate.

lets do it bros

California has the worst roads and infrastructure in the US, with around 51% needing to be removed and replaced entirely. We also have the highest tax rates in the nation.

It's obvious that the tax money they take from us is not going to the roads like they said they are.

The dems would never win another election

Indeed. It would ensure two republican seats in the senate and republican seats in the electoral college and House of Representatives.

Aren't you forgetting someone?

Salty fampai. So salty. If you look at our population size, and make a broad guestimation (haven't put all the data together) we'd be an average state both by state tax level, and federal assistance. I'm guessing our GDP would be well above the per capita rates of similar sized states (New Mexico and Nebraska).

Gonna put together some data now.

No. That's a separate state idea.

I love the spirit behind this movement but what measures could be taken to prevent progressives from changing the political climate of Jefferson once it becomes a business-friendly region? The concern of it one day being a Democratic asset is real.

I haven't in my proposed redistricting of the West Coast. It just doesn't quite look like that.

have*

It has always been a haven for republicans that want to get away from the city life of California. Plans have already been rolled out for how it would be ran, and I can safely say it wouldn't become democrat for quite a while.

State secession doesn't actually happen ever. The only time was Lincoln splitting off West Virginia for his own political gains and that was in the middle of a literal civil war. Nobody in Washington cares about this at all.

If ever. We are mostly conservative. We'd be like Oregon if they only had one majorly liberal town. Our Portland would be Humboldt/Arcata. Otherwise we are 100% Conservistan.

Humboldt is not much of a problem due to no real major cities being there, thankfully.

Shoutout to Tuolumne county for supporting the movement. Thanks any Tuolumne anons out there!

For those who don't know. This is a very recent move.

Canadian user may be on to something.

This. Too bad the Orovile Damnation didn't happen.

Yet.

Yeah but dont california have direct democracy? A referendum could easily win

The way a state succession in California would work by a two step process.

1. Approval by the State Government. Thanks to the prop system, only 600,000 people in Northern California need to vote to pass it through.

2. Approval by the country's government. Republican controlled congress.

That's why the time to separate is now.

yeah fucking right like western Washington will ever be able to survive with oregons fucked off legal system/taxes

Western Washington and Oregonvshould be separated yes.

WHY THE FUCK IS NEVADA A NEW SHAPE

It's funny how no one wants to acknowledge the real problem: spics.

The people in this region want to live in a safe, white state where all the money isn't drained paying for a spic's welfare and failed education.

Liberal South Nevada and Conservative Mid and North Nevada.

Jefferson patches please.

Jefferson > California

t. Texas

East coast user reporting with good vibes.

Feels good man.

Flag I created for the state. Thoughts?

How close to liberal districts would the state theoretically extend southward? I feel like it's be prudent to have some kind of moderate buffer area between the southern regions of Jefferson and northern California.

It stretches down right past and next to Sacramento. Thanks to Roseville. However almost everywhere else besides cities in the central valley is conservative. So there's that.
