if a population declines it's a natural thing, it doesn't mean they will go extinct. The economy in reality has never recovered from 2008 and population growth is closely related to economic conditions in more affluent countries. My guess is that since debt is spiraling out of control and keeps growing, GDP growth and tax donkey's need to grow as well.
