Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.

Jackson Peterson

Yeah, I guess the technology we have today would seem like magic to people from 2000 or 3000 years ago. Fuck, it doesn't help that the manga has so much dialogue, either. I guess I'll have to reread it to fully get what the hell is going on.

I also strongly suggest reading Noise since it's a prequel and sort of explains how everything went to shit not to mention how awesome it is. Then there is Netsphere Engineer and Blame2 which serve as epilogues in a way but you don't have to read them. Try to form your own opinion on exactly that happened because even the most in-depth theories have quite a bit headcanon in them.

why was the first volume even reversed, still boggles my mind as to the pointlessness of it

Sebastian Lewis

Blame was initially done by Project Omanga. Omanga completed Blame on its own, but other groups also picked it up. Those other groups' versions are the ones you tend to see beyond v2, unless you're on a random aggregate site.

Omanga translated Blame from the French official releases into English, as I recall. That's why there's some uncertain terms or phrases in those initial volumes, and that's why it's left to right. France was still doing flipped physical releases at the time. They couldn't have flipped the pages back without fucking up some stuff that the Roman alphabet changed from the Japanese, even if they wanted to do so.

Jace Reed

Huh, sorry I missed that thread. It's a solid summary and includes some of the extra world building stuff in the additional material. I doubt Nihei will ever return to Blame! again, but if he does he's certainly got plenty of places to explore a bit given all his world building.

Yeah the original old ones are what they are, actually they kind of make me a little nostalgic in some ways. It was a less polished era.

I doubt Nihei will ever return to Blame! again
What pisses me off about Nihei is that he thinks his old stuff is bad, and that his new stuff is *good*
I think he just got that mindset from sales impacting his livelihood. Maybe one day, his brain will start working again, and he'll give us more Abara/Blame-type stuff

or Sabrina-type stuff
even that's okay compared to late Sidonia/second half of Biomega

Cibo is just better because she was the first lighthearted character and fixed herself. Plus, scientist girls tend to be good.

One man on a mission walks for millennia through a desolate cyberpunk city kicking ass. No bullshit romance. Little in the way of dialogue. Just lots and lots of walking and lots of lots of ass kicking.

Justin Thomas
Justin Thomas

I think I have read this pasta before.

Anyway, what Nihei really lacks is knowledge about how to fucking narrate a story, Sidonia no Penis was a perfect example of him, not knowing how handle dialogs, interactions and everything else that makes narrations.

what part of that post is anything like a pasta
not knowing how handle dialogs, interactions and everything else that makes narrations
Abara had great interactions, dialogues, etc though. I dunno, I find it weird to think that Nihei's just been lucky with his writing.

Daniel Carter
Daniel Carter

As other user pointed out, Nihei is more of ass kicking than dialogues and story-telling. Abara has more dialogues and character interactions, but the story told is quite simple and short.

Now with Sidonia no Penis, Nihei wanted to really told a story, have characters that felt real and that evolve. Maybe is because he is not used to(we all love him for his ass-kicking more than the stories he tell), but Nihei's narrative is awkward and obtuse.
And I think that's why he thinks his past works are bad.

But then again, Nihei haven't had much practice in that department and I want to keep reading him and see how he himself grows as mangaka.

Kayden Smith
Kayden Smith

Has Nihei drawn anything since the end of Sidonia? I remember seeing a picture of him in late 2014/early 2015 with a brace on his wrist - he claimed it was an injury but seeing that brace, that combined with the change in his artwork, made me wonder if he hadn't developed carpal tunnel syndrome.

killy can't lose consciousness
False. Killy is resilient but he has lost consciousness against his will numerous times. We have no reason to believe or infer that he has restrictions/protocol related to losing consciousness. Please redact.

all that the contemporary people know about their world history is that safeguards are bad and will kill humans
False. Humans encountered in the story have varying knowledge of world events. The level where Cibo comes from was doing advanced research on accessing the net sphere. Please redact.

the governing agency cannot give kill order
False. Killy is an agent of governing agency. Nowhere is it described or even implied that he has the authoritative power to ignore direct orders from the governing agency. Please redact.

starts firing his gun angrily/laughingly in the face of his survival and involuntary imprisonment
Fanfiction. I personally surmised that Killy was testing his weapon at full power in order to assert test its maximum capacity. Killy cannot afford to learn the maximum capacity of his weapon during a hostile encounter and therefore must test it in advance. I assume that he does so automatically upon returning online after unknown potential damage. However I cannot know if that is the real reason and I cannot argue that it is definitely the truth. You cannot know the real reason either. Please redact.

I don't understand. What is Bull to Heaven and how does it ties with this mango?

Luis Cruz
Luis Cruz

Its a joke based on how Bull of Heaven is a band that was created with the sole purpose of creating the longest songs of all time including one that is around 6 Quintilian hours long, and how Killy travels for years and years and years to accomplish his mission so that's what he has playing on his Ipod.

Stating unconfirmed information as a fact is not an opinion. It's called being wrong. If you want to share your opinion then make a different post/picture and write "my opinions" on it. Then your opinions can easily be ignored and won't be mixed with facts. Your unfathomable pride can take it senpai, I believe in you.

I don't know what you're talking about OP.

It made perfect sense to me.

Luis Morgan
Luis Morgan

The sentence "stating unconfirmed information as a fact is not an opinion" is inherently correct. It is not the same as saying "Stating unconfirmed information is not stating an opinion". If I had made this clumsy sentence then your witty retort would have gotten me good. Sadly it is not the case and the original statement remains. You should not write something as a fact when it is not a fact. You should write opinions as opinions. This can be done by sprinkling an healthy dose of "I personally think" and "probably" and "potentially" in your sentence structure. You should also move these sentence to another document which is about opinions.
