What are some "happy disasters" in anime? Some kind of scene where upbeat music is playing while something horrible is going on.
What are some "happy disasters" in anime? Some kind of scene where upbeat music...
Yuri Seijin Naoko-san does stuff like forcibly turning all trees into lesbians.
It's not a great show but the end of the first episode of Aldnoah Zero. That first episode was actually quite good. Shame about the rest unless you like cute boys suffering.
Komm Susser Tod SOUNDS cheerful if you ignore the lyrics...
Please spell it Suesser.
not All The Tropes
You disgust me.
End of Eva Rebuild 2.0
Enjoy your Wikia botnet.
Eva is full of this kind of shit.
Except that isn't upbeat music in the slightest. It's pretty fitting for what's going on.
How can a song literally named "come sweet death" be considered "upbeat".
Asuka a shit, of course you're going to have happy music
it's like when the OP happens during the climatic scene of the entire series: It's the moment when the MC becomes an hero
The point is, it is a catchy and upbeat sounding song that is actually about killing yourself.
I had no idea Vicious was originally voiced by Wakamoto
Do you even know what upbeat means my nigga??
You can block the botnet, but you can't undo the betrayal of contributors and the trampling of creative commons principles.
"Upbeat" is used to describe songs that are somewhat preppy in tempo or make you feel good and give you energy.
It doesn't apply to "Komm Susser Todd" but he's using it appropriately IMO.
Will use Susser, thanks.
Komm Susser Todd
It's Komm, Süßer Tod, or "Komm Suesser Tod" if you can't into German special characters.
It's not that hard.
Didn't one of the .hack shows have like the main character and his waifu sacrificing themselves to save everyone else stuck in the game or w/e, but they were happy together or something?
This was a long time ago
Shit, the very first seconds of this are already driving tears into my eyes.
FINDS A WAY
I watched Wind Rises the other day and there was a rather striking scene of a plane burning and crashing to the sound effects of a piano key and a tennis game.
Also in Hunter x Hunter there's the episode where Kurapika is auditioning for his bodyguard job. While they're being attacked by ninjas it's set to a man playing piano in another room.
I don't know if either are really "happy" but they're certainly offbeat music choices which draw more attention to the scene at hand.
Threadly reminder that you should stop posting that because it's a thing.
Alright that doesn't even make sense now.
3DPD, Keit-ai and rec shit all in one thread.
It's süßer faggot
You can't expect people to spell it like that when the characters aren't on their keyboard.
You wouldn't use ü pr ß in a crossworld puzzle either.
if by end you mean this part
for what purpose?
Todd is wrong.
The scene is fucking cringe when you think that
he sends that to himself
they're called "happy little accidents"
Well from my point of view, the Germans are wrong!
I'm more curious how Tod turned into Todd.
Was it a spelling mistake that caught on among non-Germans before anybody could correct them?
Probably since "Komm" and "Süsser" have doublings.
i got PTSD from that scene
Then you should learn to read.
The greatest requiem.
I CANT STOP LOOOOOOVING YOOOOOUUUUUU
I loved this OP.
Who's Todd and why is he so sweet?
Seven swell from Eureka Seven.
thanks to that stupid music i didnt understand if it was supposed to be a disaster or something good that happened to them
Please, tell me more about this internet drama.
That shit was not upbeat, it was super somber.
Forgot to add, maybe you're talking about this one, in which case it applies even less
getting Come Susan Toad so wrong
disregarding your usage of tumblr terminology you're right that's messed up
It's a shame there's no fun music for the vietnam scenes. Do japs not enjoy the Vietnam war like we do?
I'm sure they enjoyed it with their superior blades, forged and folded by master smiths in skimpy outfits.
My brother was watching akame ga kill the other day and I walked in on the scene where they are fighting the giant guy right after they were ambushed at the headquarters.
They were playing some wierd smooth jazz gor the fight scene.
I just browsed a few, and it looks like people put entries without actually understanding the "trope".
Most of those are about ED or OP that "do not fit with the mood of the series or the episode".
good guy gets killed
Japanese Dragonball/Z/GT BGM is ridiculous-sounding in general a lot of the time (lots of springy noises and high-pitched DU-DUUUNs), so there are probably lots of other examples. I remember a scene in GT where Pan was crying having some silly circus music, for example.
Blood C was garbage
it was a 10-episode setup for the bunny-blender punchline.
holy shit what the fuck hahahaha
Actually the ß has been phased out 10 years ago. It's now just spelled ss.
