Joker Game Cast Comment: Tsuda Kenjiro http://jokergame.jp/special/

–Please tell us your impressions of this work–

I’ve read the novel already so from me, the setting was very cool and the story was very interesting. It’s very grey throughout the whole work, but somehow it carries this gritty atmosphere; I like this kind of atmosphere so I was attracted to this work. It was quiet for me for the first episode, but what unfolds in these stories is what I think makes this work interesting.

–Please tell us something about your character–

I had the impression that he was a “soft person”. However, he uses this as a weapon to crawl into his opponent’s heart to investigate them thoroughly, seeing him like this makes him very scary. I also felt that he was a person who could change his attitude while talking to someone, so I made sure to act with this in mind.

–Please give a message to everyone who is waiting for the broadcast–

It’s a considerably special world, so I believe it onto a unique atmosphere and is filled with originality. If you all support this work, I will be very happy. Please look forward to the next episode.

–Please write down a brief note about your character!– (pictured)

“Gamo Jirou, entering the bosom.”

Enigma still has not been broken.

There are at least two messages that have never been decoded.

Computers have just gotten so powerful that they can go through every possible result and boil down what is most likely to be it, and computer software with word recognition can do the rest.

Enigma was "broken" through brute force.

Yeah that part was strange.
I liked Amari as a character, but I think he's too soft hearted. Very unlike the previous characters.

Not exactly, it was broken because enigma was essentially an OTP cypher generator, but the same pass was used multiple times. The method to actually obtain the pass was bruteforcing as you said, but if it weren't for the multiple uses of the same pass, it wouldn't have been any useful since the messages "attack london at 5" and "defend jersey at 8" are both possible decryptions of the message using different passes.

We shall decrypt Enigma by comparing the scrambled document to the unscrambled one!

Nevermind that the British probably wouldn't have the exact order the Kriegsmarine would have sent their destroyer, the most valueable information you could get from this was exactly one set of information, what the rotors on the Enigma set were that particular day. What actually made Enigma hard to crack was that it had three rotors and thousands of different possible settings. So no, this wouldn't have even remotely worked, and the MI5 agent should have known that. Also MI5 was domestic security, MI6 was foreign intelligence, and even then MI6 didn't to SIGNIT intelligence (Signals intelligance) on Kreigsmarine until the war actually began in 39, before 39 a Royal Navy subdivision of the JIC was working to crack it, but this was subsumed by Bletchly Park later in the war. But tl'dr on that post; no, this spy wouldn't have been capable of doing fucking anything he supposedly did.

Samuel Gutierrez
Samuel Gutierrez

I am NOT a fujoshi, but all the spies are so unf...

Asher Roberts
Asher Roberts

Was she spying for Germany? I just thought she was there for revenge on the MI5 defector

Brandon Gomez
Brandon Gomez

This probably won't get to 1941, it'll probably stop before then. Because then the war crimes start been committed on Westerners as well, and this would rile up to many people if they glossed over it.

Thomas Harris
Thomas Harris

I think it was a very different time and perhaps they are also borrowing from Japanese culture more than American culture.

Actually, if you watch older movies, I think you'll see a lot of men interacting with little girls. Particularly, Shirley Temple movies have her alone with single men and it is used as a plot device to introduce those men to her older sister, or some other older woman. In those times, there was less of a wall between age groups in society and children were expected to interact with adults on their own.

Keep in mind, that a boy of twelve would normally be working at the time. While labor regulations prevented children from working in factories they were commonly employed in grocery stores, ice cream parlors, etc. It is not until the era of communist witch hunts that we begin to see much more separation and distrust between generations. Further the breakdown of local societies (i.e. people no longer know their neighbors) is probably related to increasing distrust.

However, this contact between generations often did slip into sexual relations, but this was at a time when you couldn't even talk about it. Also at a time where such behavior was not too discouraged (i.e. relationships could potentially be formed).

Anthony Hughes
Anthony Hughes

That is confirmed by the website. Only one episode happene din 1941, everythign else is before that

Ian Cook
Ian Cook

Ok I must be retarded because every other episode was straightforward but I didn't get this one at all
What was that scene at the beginning with the germans blowing up a boat?

Jace Collins
Jace Collins

I'm not entirely clear on it myself but what I gathered...
MI5 defector guy leaks info to Germans that causes them to attack that boat in the beginning. The plan is to find out their encrypted message ordering the attack so the British can try decrypting it. This made people angry at him so he wanted to flee to Japan.
Emma was the wife of the captain of that British ship that was sacrificed. She overheard the conversation so she joined the Germans for revenge because they gave her some cyanide and a plan to kill him.
She turned herself in because she left evidence she knew the dead guy in the dog's collar.
What I don't know is why the D-agency guy figured it out and wanted her to turn herself in.

Jonathan Mitchell
Jonathan Mitchell

Do you really want to know the plot?

Commander and military betray Japan. Commander is working for the Americans starting after the Pearl Harbor attack. In the process of trying to uncover the truth military is betrayed by a superior and then he turns on Japan believing the country has already lost the war.

The novels end with half the D-Agency killed and the commander giving the Americans all the valuable military targets in mainland Japan including Nagasaki and Hiroshima military production line information.

Commander ends up living out the rest of his life peacefully in Hawaii and military ends up working for the Americans during the reconstruction period. Two of the remaining spies join Russia and the others either disappear or are killed.

Jackson Scott
Jackson Scott

Nevermind that the British probably wouldn't have the exact order the Kriegsmarine would have sent their destroyer, the most valueable information you could get from this was exactly one set of information, what the rotors on the Enigma set were that particular day.

I thought the exact same thing, they kind of point it out themselves when they explain the machine, but then completely blew that away because it got in the way of the plot.

Jayden Adams
Jayden Adams

How the hell is it gay?

Blake Butler
Blake Butler

episode 4 is still best episode.

Aaron James
Aaron James

so what am i supposed to be looking at? the LIAE part?

Jordan Williams
Jordan Williams

Also why would MI5 kick such great and useful man out?

He apparently disobeyed orders in order to utilize his Gardening plan. And any spy that's willing to ignore the will of the higher ups is an extreme liability, as its possible they may eventually think their current side is too dumb to live or not worth fighting for and end up betraying the government.

Gavin Morales
Gavin Morales

There's some issues I have with the show and I guess it's because I expected from the first two episodes that it would be more focused on the dilemma of the MC changing the way he thinks as he integrates into the group of spies. Instead we get VERY loosely connected stories that (Other than the last two) have just come off as pretty boring.

Isaac Stewart
Isaac Stewart

Yeah, I second this question.

Logan Lee
Logan Lee

Emma was cute, but this was definitely the weakest episode. The plot wasn't very clear and Amari didn't really do much spy stuff, except set out a crossword puzzle and whistle a bit.

Noah Hill
Noah Hill

Amari didn't really do much spy stuff
Then again, one of the best episodes (China) barely had the spy in it at all.

Jordan Lopez
Jordan Lopez

This episode did't make any sense. Are you telling me that "The Prof" wouldn't notice Emma and her mother if they where intimate enough for him to console her at her husbands funeral? Like I know he said that, "even my closest friends and family" wouldn't recognize him but the chick whose husband you murdered is on the same boat as you and you aren't this least bit worried?

Weak episode.

So why did Osamu try to prevent Morgan from entering Japan? Morgan was disown from the MI5 so I thought he was coming to Japan to defect.

Daniel Foster
Daniel Foster

I assumed that they did not know why he was coming to Japan. He says to him, "we could never let somebody like you enter Japan." This implies that just by his nature as a codebreaker working on enigma (and Japan is basing their ciphers on engima) he would be to dangerous to allow into the country, or probably to live at all if they have the chance to take him out. It's a little ambiguous, I'll admit, but I don't think guys who are gonna defect get tons of plastic surgery.

Christian Brown
Christian Brown

Fuck, I'd watch this S2. Wacky spy uncles dropping by to hang out with Emma-chan all the time. New-daddy gets a job in a flower shop, but spy dudes keep showing up thinking he's in the shit and he has to convince them he's not. Emma finds out that new-daddy and all her uncles are spies around the age of six. They all talk and joke about it all the time and show her spy tricks and shit. Teach her how to hold her own in a fight, how to read a room, game theory and shit.

Just finished watching this and there is literally nothing good about this show at all, it's just flat out bad.

You can't even turn your brain off and just enjoy like habaneri of the spicy fortress or boku no hero or even one punch man(If you guys enjoy these shows for other reason that's fine, i'm not trying to insult them, i think their great/only enjoyable things this season.) ,

Joker Game is literally painful to watch be it the hideous animation(I swear there isn't a single on model character during motion) or it's generic characters and thei by the numbers uninspired character interactions.

Throw in a cast of all men which are secretly aroused with each other and make it an episodic and see what happens

All these interactions literally write themselves and i've seen it all 100x before with characters that are actually remotely interesting.

The "plot" and premise is absolutely fucking retarded, you have to be a special kind of stupid to even remotely think it was a good idea.

Honestly the show would be at least watchable if they just made it about Sakuma instead with the spies occasionally showing up to help him.

As it stands now, this show is literally shit. Like a 1/10, like worst than sword art online and i mean that from the bottom of my heart.

I wouldn't say so. I'm pretty sure they're supposed to be similar. I started remembering most of them by their original names and appearances by now, but it doesn't really matter in the long run.

The whole thing was explained way better in The Imitation Game, on account of it being a live action movie. Basically they CAN break a single day's codes, but it takes so damn long and is so expensive that the Germans have already done their thing, taken their prize, and moved on.

A huge effort went into building a machine system that could break the Enigma code while the intel is still piping hot. Heil Hitler

I like all of the silly lighthearted comics it's getting on Pixiv, even if I don't actually understand them. It's a nice bit of relief from the tension in the show itself. (And it's nice to just see them interact more)

I really hate how the show is portraying Japan as the mother fucking best. Even at the episode when of their spies got captured they still got away even with the master spy there. This is disgusting as fuck.

Jacob Robinson
Jacob Robinson

Maybe I am missing something, but wasn't the point of the trap to have the location and time of the attack and then decipher from that information?

Yes. But it's pointless. It's going to take you days/weeks to decipher it, even with that information and in the end you will only learn (maybe) what setting the Enigma machine was on for that particular message. That will not help you decipher future messages.

Watch 'The Imitation Game', it'll explain it more clearly to you.

I think it's meant to be LIFE with H from TECH changed to an F. The clue for 64 was 'live', so it makes sense to be the word life.

No idea what its significance is in terms of the episode though. If you think really hard you can probably make it work, but I don't care enough to bother.

So, it's just that? You mean they only get fucked because someone betrayed them? How about any other time? Are they just the perfect spies that can never fucked up unless one of their own fuck them up. Japan is really pushing themselves even in their worst aspect. Fucking stupid.

Lincoln Robinson
Lincoln Robinson

Asama Maru Incident
Before Japan's entry into the Second World War she was intercepted by the Royal Navy light cruiser HMS Liverpool 35 miles (56 km) from the coast of Niijima on January 21, 1940. Alerted to reports that Axis sailors in the United States were preparing to arrange transport to Germany, the British Government had authorised the C-in-C, China Station to direct a warship to detain certain passengers providing the coast of Japan was not within sight.[8] The Liverpool removed 21 of the ship's passengers believed to be survivors of the scuttled German liner Columbus.[9] The Government of Japan condemned it as an abuse of belligerent rights and formally protested the action, which further escalated tensions between the two countries.[9]

In all seriousness dude should just 86 her before she grows up and starts wondering where her mom went and why some strange man from a different country is raising her.
It's kinder to end her suffering now.

Mason Taylor

She could be useful to D-Agency. After all, she's English, so if they raised her to be a spy loyal to grorious Nippon, she could easily infiltrate places where actual Japanese people would stand out too much. Having a gaijin on their side would give them an unforseen advantage, especially if the gaijin was a young girl.

Jeremiah Russell
Jeremiah Russell

She would be too easy to turn, an awful decision. Anyone, not even enemy spies upon hearing her story would be like "did your mother tell you you can trust this man" the second she realises she didn't the seed of a double agent is there.
That or whore/drugs/suicide. Seriously the start of a completely paranoid breakdown is her origin story, her life from then on is hinging on her not stopping to process her situation.
