That's wrong though, she wanted both, a relationship with Kyousuke and friendship with Kirino. James Carter

Not only did Kuroneko deserve to win
No she didn't, that is as stupid as it gets. The entire series is build around Kyousuke's and Kirino's support for each other and it was hinted from the very beginning that they have feelings for each other. Any other ending would have been retarded.

Which brings me to the second point, the ending itself is decent, they did not break up, or rather they did but got back together again. It was something Fushimi had to do due to censorship or he wouldn't have gotten published.

The anime fucked it up a bit by leaving out a ton of stuff prior to the ending, changing the kiss at the end to be on the cheek and many subs mistranslated a crucial line. Kirino renews the life counseling, which was always about their relationship and now it is about their love for wach other.

She fell for Kyousuke when he projected his feelings for Kirino onto her. After that it were her own delusions that made her act like an idiot. How can you not blame Kuroneko for that? She's a chuuni who made a chuuni plan that didn't work and hurt everyone involved.

I never understood the 'win/lose' mindset people have of harems

usually the male MC in the harem is a piece of shit who doesn't deserve anyone and almost undeniably the girl who 'wins' would be way better off with someone else anyway. Not only that, but if your girl 'loses', doesn't that just mean she remains pure and doesn't end up with a spineless japanese dude?

No she didn't, she never planned to get rejected by Kyousuke. She thought he would pick her again. Ruri is so selfless she sacrificed herself
I love how often this is toted as the thing that makes Ruri superior when:

1. The only reason Ruri got a shot in the first place is because Kirino told Kyousuke to consider Ruri
2. Kirino stayed out of their way while they dated even though it hurt her
3. Kirino intended to move to Europe because she felt Kyousuke was delaying his relationship with Ruri for Kirino's sake

Kirino attempted to sacrifice her love which was ~7 years in the making to appease Ruri's petty crush but all Kuronekofags can come up with is how great Ruri was for stepping aside after forcing herself between them.

The reality is neither of their "sacrifices" made a lick of difference because Kyousuke made his own damn decision in the end that wasn't influenced by either of their games.

First destiny record:
On the top, it said the illustration was named 'The ideal world'.
It was drawn in manga style – Kuroneko's normal style. Unlike her normal
illustration, this one didn't use purple and black, and had a warm and gentle feeling.
Compared to the 'The scream' just now, it was completely different.
Surrounding the dining table was me and ---
"Kirino…?"

She didn't originally expect him to pick her again. That's why she was so upset right after she broke up with him. It wasn't until after her first plan succeeded that she changed her objective.

"I have a newer, clearer wish."
She opened up the second 'Destiny record' and pointed to the last page.
It showed another illustration, with the same name 'ideal world'.
It was the same happy sight at the dinner table before, the only difference
was that the older me and Kirino – were waiting for Kuroneko to bring out meal.

They both cared about each other. From the start Ruri was thinking of Kirino as the above quote shows. Kirino had good intentions but she was acting shitty towards them while they were dating. If Kirino was honest from the start none of this would have happened.
neither of their "sacrifices" made a lick of difference

That's very presumptuous. If Ruri wouldn't have dated him in the first place and instead talked to Kirino and Kyousuke about their feelings, we have every reason to believe things would've happened the same way with significantly less grief.

Brandon Flores
Brandon Flores

Exactly, she panicked because it wasn't what she had expected. In her original drawing she is sitting at a table together with the siblings, all 3 of them happily together. It doesn't show the siblings being together and it doesn't show Kyousuke being with her. After that she spent another 3 volumes trying to get him back. I summarized it earlier this thread .

Your last line from the earlier post is also pure speculation, maybe Kyousuke would have broken up on his own after realizing it's hurting Kirino. Or maybe after Kirino's planned confession. We just don't know and it's tiresome to talk about these huge what-if scenarios.

Samuel Reed
Samuel Reed

In her original drawing she is sitting at a table together with the siblings
No she's not. I gave the quote in an earlier post and again as i said, if she expected him to take her back she wouldn't have been so upset after initially breaking up with him, as shown in vol 9. Only after forcing kirino's confession did she resolve to keep competing.

Nicholas Johnson
Nicholas Johnson

if she expected him to take her back she wouldn't have been so upset after initially breaking up with him
That doesn't make sense. If she expected it she wouldn't panic. She wouldn't even ask if he would choose her again. If what you said was true Kuroneko would be a total piece of shit who willingly manipulated Kyousuke and Kirino, shit on them and then continued to interfere in their relationship. It also doesn't make sense to begin with, after Kyousuke brought Kirino back from America it would have been the perfect time for them to deepen their relationship but Kuroneko was in the way, it just doesn't make sense that she responded to Kyousukes advances while Kirino was away in order to get the siblings together. She literally did the opposite.

Grayson Harris
Grayson Harris

Why else would she be upset in that case? The fact she expected his answer doesn't mean it wasn't still painful and stressful for her. She asked the question because the whole point was to get Kyousuke to make the decision she expected him to. She aimed to bring the siblings together and that's exactly what she achieved.

Grayson Bell
Grayson Bell

Why else would she be upset in that case?
Obviously because she didn't expect it. She always wanted to get chosen. Again, why else would she even ask him to decide and then backpedall even after Kirino's confession?
And one more time, it is complete nonsense that she initially wanted Kyousuke and Kirino to get together, she did exactly the opposite. She got between the siblings for the longest time. Kyousuke basically admitted his love when he flew to America but Kirino couldn't answer it because Kuroneko was in the way. Just think about it, why the hell would Ruri make Kyousuke fall in love with him while Kirino was away? I've read this a few times now and it was always completely delusional. This whole "Yeah, she totally did it for them but changed her mind midway through" thing is just stupid.

Then she would have no reason to be devastated after breaking up with him, as you said she didn't want to be with him anyway. No, she did want to be with him, but she planned to step down for Kirino despite her feelings. And she wasn't shocked, she panicked. If you planned to tip a bucket of spiders over your head you would probably still freak out when you actually did it, even though you knew what was coming. She literally did sacrifice herself for the sake of her friends. Kirino was acting intolerably jealous towards both neko and manami even before they started dating, the extreme of that being Kirino's whole ridiculous "fake boyfriend" stunt, Ruri aimed to remedy that. I find it absurd that you are claiming otherwise considering it's a central plot point.

Jonathan Nelson
Jonathan Nelson

I find it absurd that you are claiming otherwise
Funny coming from one of the 2 only guys who have ever said this in more than 3 years. So she planned to step down but then miraculously found the spirit to continuously pursue her love for another 3 volumes. Let me guess, it makes her even more tragic since she cemented her own loss but still struggled against it. It's really funny how far you people go to excuse everything Kuroneko ever did.

About your Kirino bashing, as the other user said earlier she tried to get rid of her, far bigger and older, love a lot more often and it doesn't really matter anyway. When did she act "intolerably jealous" towards Ruri and Kyousuke when they were datin? The fake boyfriend thing was shitty but it was over after a few hours compared to Kuroneko playing with the siblings feelings for months according to your, once again stupid, theory.

So she planned to step down but then miraculously found the spirit to continuously pursue her love for another 3 volumes. Let me guess, it makes her even more tragic since she cemented her own loss but still struggled against it.
Pretty much

"Sorry. I know that we agreed to 'not talk about it', however, I understand without you having to say anything --- then, what about something more recent? --- When I came over to your brother's room to play, why did you have such a painful expression on your face before running away?"
"Painful expression ---"
">You did have one."
"…"
"Why is it that after I started dating your brother you always seemed to be in pain?"
"Seemed to be in pain --- no I didn't."
"If you really had accepted our relationship, you wouldn't be showing that kind of expression right now – I really can't stand you right now."

But it's her attitude before they started dating that motivated Ruri. She covers pretty much all the detail in her confrontation with Kirino in vol8. This whole time you still haven't addressed the points I originally made in - the pictures in her destiny record and her reaction after dumping him would make absolutely no sense if that wasn't her motive.

Neko initially had no plans to keep on after dropping him. But that's as far as she went for Kirino. It's only after Kirino goes and helps them out that she starts pursuing him full on without caring for anyone else and completely aware that she had lost. She's still a massive cunt.

It's tragic in the same way for Ayase. They're pretty much mirrored in that aspect. And Ayase actually explains their situation better in her rejection.

Kirino did nothing wrong by distancing herself from them. That's pretty much all she did during this time. This was a painful experience for her and it was made worse by Kuroneko herself.

I'm actually surprised that Kirino didn't outright destroy the relationship within 5 minutes of Kuroneko pulling a cunt move. Even more surprising is that they all somehow stayed friends.

Eli Ortiz
Eli Ortiz

Are you shitting on Kirino because she is holding her feelings back so Ruri can have a good time? Those lines just show how it hurts Kirino and how Kyousuke can't stand her being unhappy. It literally shows the opposite of what you are claiming. Kirino loves him and he loves her but Kuroneko is between them.

Wait, did you not even read my posts? That would explain a lot actually . You are trying to warp everything towards your picture of the heroic Kuroneko, which is just retarded.

Let's pretend everything you said was right. She knew about the siblings feelings for each other, planned to get them together, fell in love with him and made him fall in love with her while Kirino was absent, hurt Kirino a ton with her relationship and was shitty enough to even ask her for advice, dropped Kyousuke like a piece of shit, completely trampling on him and Kirino, got Kirino to confess and then suddenly decided "Fuck it, I'll actually not give up" and continued to be a nuisance to the siblings for 3 more volumes, pathetically trying to get him back while knowing it won't happen. Yeah, sounds like a real compassionate girl.

Connor Flores
Connor Flores

Kuroneko wanted Kirino to chase after her though, she wanted to get her to say that she can't stand Kyousuke being with another girl and that she wants to be his most important person. Jacob Perez
Jacob Perez

No, you asked for examples of her jealousy while they were dating so I gave you one. That was Ruri's reaction not Kyousuke's. At this point Kyousuke wasn't aware of Kirino's feelings, which is why Ruri forced her to confess them. As I said it was more her attitude and actions before they were dating which influenced Ruri.

Yes I read your post and you still didn't address my points. Why would she be upset after dumping him if she expected him to take her back? Why is her first "ideal world" picture Kyousuke and Kirino together and Ruri is not pictured?

Kirino was hurting before they started dating. Kyousuke was constantly being mistreated by Kirino. She decided to keep competing afterwards only after having destroyed every chance she initially had. I'm not saying that her actions were optimal and I can't deny that it caused them some grief but in the end she achieved her goal: the siblings understood and accepted each other's feelings. I won't deny that her methods were extreme, but my original point was only that to begin with she was thinking only of the siblings and what she thought was best for them. And it's not like Kirino was never shitty to either of them, to Kyousuke especially.

Asher Barnes
Asher Barnes

I still don't think she had the intention of getting the siblings together. Everything she did in volume 5 was the total opposite of that. All she did was alienate the siblings after Kyousuke told Kirino he would die without her while crying. Kuroneko said she did is so Kirino would stop lying to herself, but Ruri is the reason Kirino had to lie in the first place.

"… One of my friends has a problem… If she got a boyfriend… how many dates would be appropriate before allowing him to take her body?"

I still don't think she had the intention of getting the siblings together.
I highly doubt anyone actually thinks that. She did not want the siblings to fuck. At most she wanted them to fix things.

That was the main goal.

The side goal was trying to get him to fall in love with her before dropping him to get them to fix things (main goal). She ended up failing and succeeding at the same time.

Fuck Kuroneko.
That shit pisses me off. It's absolutely disgusting.

Nathan Lewis
Nathan Lewis

Both would be for it because they're desperate sluts. But Kyousuke would never do that shit because he loves his imouto and his imouto would never approve of such a situation.

Besides, Ayase and Kuroneko belong together.

Cooper Brooks

Why doesn't poor girl win?
because she's too "real". Japanese Otaku don't like people who remind them that there is reality somewhere. Some girl who sews clothing and toys for her siblings because her family is a bunch of poorfags is too "real" for them. They'd rather the beautiful bitchy tsundere sister. It's pure escapism.

In vol5 she hadn't made her plan yet. In vol5 she fell in love with him. It wasn't until vol8 that she wrote her destiny record and put it into action. For 3 volumes after Kirino returned from america, Kirino became increasingly jealous of neko even though they weren't dating, which is what drove neko to do what she did.

You assholes always act like Kirino's feelings are the only ones that matter and anyone who doesn't bend over backwards for her is evil. Kirino was shitty too.

Jaxon Ross
Jaxon Ross

No, you asked for examples of her jealousy while they were dating so I gave you one. That was Ruri's reaction not Kyousuke's.
That is Kuroneko describing Kirino. She was jealous but she didn't show it. You claimed she acted "intolerably jealous".

Why would she be upset after dumping him if she expected him to take her back?
She was in love with him but had to break up without explanation and leave the town for a few days to follow her plan. If that doesn't shake you emotionally you are cold as ice.

Why does her first picture only have the siblings? I need to think about that a bit, I initially thought it was the one with all 3 of them. That's the small inconsistency in my posts, yours is that she changed her mind out of the blue, going against everything you claimed she planned and there is no explanation for that. She went through all of that, broke up with her love, and then she can't accept it?

She went from this:
"I dated senpai to – fulfill another wish. To fully realize my dream, we had many 'ceremonies' together, and his current state is the result of all that."
to this in a matter of minutes:
"… Hm… Huh… Don't think that you've won just yet… I knew that it would turn out this way… It was only a detour on the road to my inevitable victory… just like my destiny record predicted…"
"… Don't be mistaken… I didn't run away… It was a tactical retreat.Remember that well…"

You know, anime is in fact full of escapism but you people who blame the otaku's taste for everything almost never get any of it right.

That doesn't stop you from playing armchair psychologist though.

She went through all of that, broke up with her love, and then she can't accept it?
Yes exactly. She completed her initial objective but then couldn't bear to face the outcome.

It was only 2 volumes. Kirino stopped completely after volume 7.

That said, Kirino had come back only due to Kyousuke's line

"I can't live without you."

Yeah, things weren't going well for her but it wasn't like her to just return. The only reason she did return and end her dream was for Kyousuke. It was under the impression that she was needed and loved by him. An impression that Kirino thought was absolute crap since he seemed totally fine after she returned. She got jealous and annoyed by that. Kuroneko made herself a target of that jealousy willingly.

Those are just convenient assumptions on your part. So she started it in volume 5 but didn't have a plan yet? You're just bending the story to your liking, everything Ruri did was perfect and noble.

For 3 volumes after Kirino returned from america, Kirino became increasingly jealous of neko even though they weren't dating
Yeah, because she knows that Kyousuke and Kuroneko came a lot closer so she felt obliged to stay out of the way. As I said, Ruri herself is the main reason Kirino had to lie to hersef during that time.

anyone who doesn't bend over backwards for her is evil. Kirino was shitty too.
Again, you're one of the literally only 2 people to ever suggest it was that way. No Kuronekofag every claimed that until this year. This series has been discussed from heaven to hell and back and nobody came up with your delusions. Nobody here is claiming Kirino wasn't shitty but you are claiming Kuroneko is a saint who did nothing wrong.

So that is the core of your delusion. She couldn't bear it so she changed her mind and chased her dead dream that wasn't even planned.

Connor Wilson

I can partially agree with him there. It's pretty much Ayase's stance on it as well.

"Before that, it seemed like I was mistaken. My favorite Kirino's Onii-san seemed very kind... if I married him, Kirino could be my sister... I once had that embarrassing fantasy."
Her cheeks slowly reddened with each memory.
"My fantasy slowly got stronger and stronger... Then Onii-san shattered it many times...Then each time I built a new dream on that new foundation."

But where I disagree is in saying that the act was selfless and good. It wasn't. At all. Neko deserved the pain and suffering she got and continues to get. Fuck her.

Hunter Johnson
Hunter Johnson

It makes sense with Ayase though, she deluded herself so she could stay friends with Kirino. She had to keep that up until she could face reality. Then she also had to acknowledge that Kyousuke is a really good guy who helped her a lot and who she obviously likes. It's funny to think her first thought was "If I marry him I can be Kirino's sister", she really is obsessed with Kirino. With Kuroneko that makes no sense at all though. Anyway I'm really tired of this and it's late here so you go and tell that Kuroneko did not selflessly plan to get the siblings together at cost of her own love.

Elijah Harris
Elijah Harris

That's the thing.

Ayase deluded herself for her relationship with Kirino.
Kuroneko's just deluded.

They're both retarded and thought they could win.

Landon Nguyen
Landon Nguyen

Yeah but not deluded in the way that guy wants it to be.
Allegedly she knew about the siblings feelings, fell in love with him and got him interested in her while Kirino was away, then planned to get the siblings together, had Kirino stay in the background, hurt her a lot by dating him and having the guts to ask when it's ok to start fucking, dropped him and shit on the siblings feelings all to make Kirino confess her feelings and then she changed her mind and pursued Kyousuke anyway, further shitting on Kyousuke's and Kirino's building relationship.
Makes perfect sense. I'm out, good night.

Luis Hernandez
Luis Hernandez

And Kyousuke only went to Kirino because Ruri persuaded him to.

So she started it in volume 5 but didn't have a plan yet?
She fell in love in vol5, she didn't write her destiny record until vol8. I'm not claiming anything fantastic here, that's just literally how the story went. If you want to add anything to her motives there it would be pure headcanon.

Again, they weren't dating or anything, if Kirino felt that she had to hide her feelings, that's on her, it's not Ruri's fault that she exists.

And I don't give a fuck about what previous arguments you've had.

This is what I'm talking about. I swear you cunts only care about your fetish and don't give a shit about any of the other characters.

That was exactly the point I've been making from the start. I can't believe it's taken this long for you to get it through your dense skull.

You can just fuck off

Nobody in the series is perfect and selfless, but Ruri was always thinking of the sibling's feelings. I'm not claiming anything beyond that. I need to sleep. Get cancer

Sebastian Allen
Sebastian Allen

That's more or less it.

I don't think she really did much until after volume 5 or close to the end of it. She didn't plan to advertise herself as a Kirino alternative, that just happened. That said, she may have planned to confess at the end of volume 5, but probably knew that she was going to get either rejected or ignored since Kyousuke didn't give two shits about anything but Kirino right then and there.

As for the initial plan. I think it was more like

Step 1: Date him.
Step 2: Force Kirino to do something.
Step 3: Do everything you can to make him fall for you.
Step 4: Drop him.
Step 5: Just fucking hope things turn out fine.

It's fucking idiotic and that's exactly the reason like 1-2 characters got after her. The selfish part is in step 3. It doesn't look that way but it's actually completely unnecesary for her selfless plan. It's pretty much insurance for the outcome in Step 5.

Too bad whoring herself out didn't work against an honorable and loyal siscon.
