Let's have one of these threads. I want to get back into reading, as an effort for self improvement. As I am growing older, bigger and better things are happening for me, however, at the same time it's spiral out of control, due to my own negligence. I'd love some recommendations, especially for self improvement, philosophy and politics. I'm not a big fan of reading Mein Kampf or the Communist Manifesto, but anything else is welcome.
Read "The Power Of Now" by Eckhart Tolle It's a great, short book and explains mindfulness and buddhism is such a simple matter. After that you can go deeper into mindfulness by reading Buddhist scriptures and even Nietzche. If you want to get stronger physically read "Starting Strength 3rd Edition" by Mark Rippetoe. "Culture of Critique" is good if you don't believe Sup Forums's stance on the Jewish Question.
Isaiah Wood
Thus Spoke Zarathustra

Thanks for the recomendation. I'll get it. Is it anything like Siddharta? I've read some Neitzche, some Dostoyevsky as well. However, after Siddharta I wasn't too interested in the whole Buddhist perspective, like many others who read it were. And yeah, I just got myself Culture of Critique and A Theory of Socialism and Capitalism, not sure which to start with. I don't really care about the pol's stance on it. I'm open to pretty much anything.
Adrian Allen
Been trying to read it for 2 years. Started it twice, but I just can't get myself to get past the first couple of chapters. I know I'll like it, but still it just seems like such a difficult read. Will try and still go for it. Have it on me as I'm travelling.
Jeremiah Anderson
The Power Of Now has no cryptic mumbo jumbo, just instructions on how to be mindful and examples of real life situations and how to stay mindful in them.
I want to have a conversation with you. I want to know what book(s) you'd recommend and why, so i can judge by that. I had already googled and gone on to that list before I posted this thread, my friend. Tell me. What is that you like.

Whenever I have trouble like that I watch a bunch of YouTube videos related to the author or topic to get me going
Asher Barnes
Guns, germs, and steel needs to be removed from that list
Typical Zionist propaganda

All the books by Herman Hesse are brilliant.
Steppenwolf is life changing imo
Jeremiah Powell
I have read Siddhata by Herman Hesse, not a big fan of that book. I liked it, it was good, but not my cup of tea. Is Steppenwolf similar? You think someone who doesn't like Siddharta would liek Steppenwolf? Thanks in advance.
Carter Bell
what about some political reads? Any recommendations?
Ethan Hall
I'll just go down the list here on the ones I'd highly recommend and why. That said, I recommend almost every single book on that list.
Starship Troopers: seems like it's just science fiction, but in reality, it's a political book with sci-fi undertones. It's almost entirely about a semi-fascist state and the ideas behind it.
1984/Brave New World: I really don't know what you're doing if you haven't read these.
Thus Spoke Zarathustra: don't believe the meme that Nietzsche was a faggot who believed that nothing mattered and there's nothing you can do about it; it's the exact opposite.
Ride the Tiger: required having read TSZ first, my #1 recommendation for men, it's fucking life changing.
It's been a long time since I've read most of these, so unfortunately I can't give much of a detailed analysis on them, and I'm super tired right now, but those are my most recommended on the list. As for personal advice, I'd recommend audiobooks, a lot of these can be found on youtube, and all of them can be found on amazon audible if you feel like spending the shekels. As far as books themselves though, there's no reason to buy books, use Library Genesis, it's got almost literally every book in existence on there as PDF downloads for free.

Definitely; Siddharta is much more about the 'mystical' and oriental. I'm sure you'd enjoy the Steppenwolf
Nathaniel Taylor
Cheers, just downloaded Steppenwolf and will read it first.
Chase Flores
Thanks a lot for your detailed response. I got 1984 two years ago along with TSZ, but with both, I don't know why, but i just couldn't get past the first two-three chapters. I know how essential 1984 is, so i'll give it another try. I'm going to skip Starship Troopers (for no good reason), but definitely going to try and read the rest you've mentioned, especially Ride the Tiger. Thanks a lot, pal!

Pic related should be #1 priority for all.
Nathan Rodriguez
And why is that Leafy?
Connor Kelly
I'll vouche for this book. It's one of the few that are actual practical. He explains what to actually DO to become more mindful. Rare.
Adam Rodriguez
Does anyone know of some good historical books about the Weimar Republic?
Some user recommended a historian, but i forgot.
Caleb James
Oy vey don't read this book goyim! It is a CONFIRMED antisemetic hoax and forgery!
Just disregard that 90% of the things described in the book have been happening for the last 100 years and the other 10% will start happening soon. Heh heh heh...
Chase Diaz
Gee I fucking wonder

Whirlwind by James Clavell
especially if you've read the other novels in his Asian Saga, so you know how much reverence he usually has for other cultures

What is it actually about?? I think I've gone through half of it, realized I didn't understand jack shit and then just left it at that. Nietsche's sentence structure and vocabulary really fucks with my head.

It's about this dude who, after 10 years of solitude in mountains, comes back to civilization and travels the land while preaching his new ideas.
Same book where Nietzsche talks about "God is Dead" and "Ubermensch"
William Rodriguez
Not that I’m interested in reading this book, and I can also understand the backlash that comes from Jews, but tell me what you guys think about it? How important is it for someone to read t, I understand a fair bit of what pol talks about wrt the JQ and all of that, but give me a reason or two as to why I should read it, regardless of whether I agree with pol or not on this.
Mason Hill
you mention god is dead, but you don't add the second part. let me do it for you.. "GOD IS DEAD, LONG LIVE GOD"
that shit was definitely real. the jews are kings of mass propaganda and they successfully discredited it as "made up"
Lincoln Myers
This is exactly my problem. I’ve tried reading TSZ but it just gets too difficult for my tiny underdeveloped brain. I know I’ll like it but I just can’t seem to get past a couple of chapters before giving up.
