Why is this something much more popular than Ikkoku and Ranma? I can never get passed episode 10 or so. Just comes across as homewrecking

For nips it's more popular. Remember Ranma 1/2 bombed in Japan compared to Takashi's other words (but was backed up by the international success). And Maison Ikkoku was too heavy for nips because it was a Seinen.

Your typical otaku has worse taste than any western weeb.

>Just comes across as homewrecking

Shinobu fag detected.

Fuck I'm not having this argument again but yeah I'm still mad.

...

It's really only more popular in Japan and I'm pretty sure Ranma did better merchandising wise anyway. Although Urusei Yatsura was overall bigger.

Either way, it's not apparent from the early episodes, but it's basically the only Rumiko Takahashi anime where the anime team also adds a lot of great content.

You must be gay if you can't figure out why UY was far more popular.

I mean come on think about it.

Shinobu-Fox episodes were absolute shit.
Probably one of the hardest episodes to sit through.

How do you feel about this?

youtube.com/watch?v=xRcxz1MSPd0

You'll need to get further than that to see what the fuss is all about, the show doesn't hit its stride until at least half way. It's still an enjoyable romp but there's a definite point where continuity starts existing, the feels become real and it starts feeling like other Rumiko shows. It does have a slow and repetitive start though.

Honestly m8, there's no need to be mad when Shinobu voluntarily removes herself from the Atarubowl after Mendou shows up. Of course, you'd probably know this if you had bothered to watch those episodes.

both of those aren't that good
UY and Rinne are fun manga
UY is the peak of rumiko anime

Why did that OP increase the thicc for all the characters?

Classic gag dub, always makes me smile. Obviously it was just a bunch of drunk weeb comedians 'avin a giggle but I wish they'd went all the way, us Brits love dumb shit like Takeshi's Castle so it could've done very well over here. Wish the BBC would at least air it again as it pains me to watch a .rm rip from 2000.

At least one of them had the decency to have Lum in a Vampirella costume.

Ataru's Mothra costume was pretty cute too.

It gets a lot better after the half length episodes end. I really don't like them. Then the quality rapidly increases until the very end.

Ranma isn't that good, Ikkoku absolutely is. Seinen isn't for everyone but it's one of the absolute best in the genre, once you get over how grounded in reality it is compared to other Takahashi stuff.

...

MI≥UY>Ranma>Mermaid Saga>One Pound Gospel>Inuyasha
Don't want to judge Rinne since I've only watched the anime but with all I've seen so far it's shaping up better than Ranma.

>Inuyasha
I keep forgetting she made this. Is it as garbage as I think it is? I always thought the heroine was cute

Everyone but InuYasha had good background storyline.

Not garbage, but I think it's widely regarded as her weakest.

The manga is aiight, but Rumiko Takahashi's art has gotten significantly worse over the years. The anime thankfully tightens up the character designs so that they have less wide, angular faces.

...

Can someone post the Ranma waifu chart? Haven't seen that for ages now

Choose one.

So like I was OBSESSED with this anime in middle school (My peak weeb days) and honestly what got me out of it was how repetitive it is. The manga is better imo because there's SLIGHTLY less filler but that's what 90% of it is. Filler. Fucking. Filler.

Kagome and Inuyasha themselves are both garbage characters but the other characters are great and eventually have some good development with one another.

But overall it is the shit-tier of her series, it's just one of the most recent ones so it's one everyone has heard of.

Ranma 1/2 is my favourite personally. Unlike Inuyasha the filler is still fun.

Can we all agree that this would have been about 10 times better without Cherry? Every time I see him I'm tempted to skip the episode.

I think you're just a humorless faggot to be honest.

Ryuunosuke, she's almost the perfect tomboy. Ranma being the best tomboy.

It takes a while to get going. The earlier episodes feel more like a one-shot adaption and has a much different feel and purpose to it.

You should just watch the earlier episodes that introduce or establish new characters and then skip to maybe episode 30+

I thought Inuyasha must be garbage because I used to like the dub when I was a baby weeb but honestly watching it again it wasn't bad, especially in the earlier episodes.

How do you feel about Lum?

Would you?

Ran-sama!

At least for the list on the 10th anniversary party they mended the error of not including 'Happy Birthday My Darling':

Yeah the dub is garbage overall but the beginning isn't terrible.

I'm sure if someone could make a condensed list for inuyasha (removing all of the filler because there's soo much of it that doesn't even build characters or anything) it's still an okay anime at heart.

I've yet to see the end though because i just don't care anymore. she dragged that shit out (didn't th anime end before the manga because she was taking too fucking long?)

My other problem is her characters all look the same and she's stuck in the 80s.

>There are people on Sup Forums RIGHT NOW who don't consider Ranma her best work

Best action, yeah. Comedy is for Urusei Yatsura.

Not everyone here is a braindead spic.

Oh please, this was her best work by far.

...

How is this a question?

Because it had a question mark?

...

I take her to pound town brah

HNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGG

What did you think of him?

>Dat absolutely delectable grain
Dayum son I have to rewatch.

Man, this movie was so good UNTIL the reveal midways I felt if it would've been better if barely anything got revealed and we just watched the interactions of characters trying to figure things out.
Same with Lum the Forever but that one stayed nice and mysterious until the end.

Why is this a meme now?

Because you're a moron who's interpreting it as a meme.

This is too thicc

My Shinobu-chan!

Maison Ikkoku had a lot of references.

Yeah, the anime team tried to lengthen the stories while keeping that same weird slow paced feeling of his chapter, but they should just have added standard comedy to them focused on the main cast. They were an interesting experiment from Rumiko, but it just didn't work.

Shut the fuck up.

...

...

How I feel?

I'd hit it all night long.

Why? What did she ever do to you?

>Looks super cute and fun
>195 episodes
>300+ chapters
>seems to be basically MoTW stuff

rip

>seems to be basically MoTW stuff
It's completely episodic if that's what you mean.
It isn't like a mecha show where there's a big threat to defeat every episode, but the humor works really well. It's more like Patlabor I guess.

Yeah that's what I meant.
Do they get together at some point (Aside from the very end)?

UY is worth watching for the one episode out of nowhere where the mother goes on a surreal dreamlike journey through her past.

You don't watch UY to find out if they fug, it's a foregone conclusion that they do.
It's fantastic for the comedy. There's never an overarching plot, so it never feels like it's wasting your time with filler or anything. Don't try and rush through it all. I watched the whole thing over the course of three years and loved it.

That episode can be watched without any knowledge of previous episodes.

youtube.com/watch?v=bdhIu94m6JI

it's much more jarring when you are watching a bunch of regular episode with ataru trying to see some bitty, then suddenly this deep episode from nowhere, then back to regularly scheduled programming.

For anyone with interest in the series, but turned off by 195 episodes, here's the express route, covering character introductions and best episodes:

Episodes 1-3
Episodes 5-10
Episodes 12-18
Episodes 21-22
Episode 24
Episodes 30-33
Episode 35
Episodes 37-39
Episodes 42-45
Episode 48
Episodes 50-51
Episodes 53-54

Movie 1 - Only You

Episodes 58-65
Episode 68
Episode 70
Episodes 75-79
Episode 82
Episode 87
Episodes 89-90
Episode 94
Episodes 97-98
Episodes 100-101

Movie 2 - Beautiful Dreamer

Episodes 105-106

...

Isn't the supposed canon ending that Shinobu goes back to Ataru after Lum fucks off back to her home planet?

No, that was an early time travel story before it really dawned on Rumiko that none of the readers actually liked Shinobu.
