If they needed to fill time, they should just do an episode with everyone sitting around talking about their home worlds. Like the restaurant scene with Yuuya in ep3 but longer. This would be easy to animate and also provide much needed background info.

they would still have to pay to the seiyuus and for the minimal animation, can't spend money on that, better use it for more marketing and merchandise that won't sell
