That's odd because I'm pretty sure the entire Dead Space series actually went out of it's way to ensure that save points are safe spaces.

If I'm remembering correctly, you were able to be harmed in DS3 if you were in the weapons bench, but I'm pretty sure when you used a save or armor spot you were temporarily safe until exiting it.

in DS 1 (don't remember which level) there's this one Necromorph that spawns waaay back from others, so after you've killed a roomful of fuckers, stomped them, looted the shit etc and go for a save spot, the fucker usually times his arrival at that this exact moment
