Its simple and fun pretty much all the way through.

As soon as you have the 4 party members. That last dungeon, though...

I just got past that dungeon where you have to go mini with some NPC with you, but its still really boring. FFV is much better.

Once you've got full party permanently and get your first set of Jobs.

I have to tell you though that the story never gets better if you're a storyfag. FF3 is very story-light game and is quite simple in that regard. Just a "you are the chosen ones, ancient evil awakens" trope in its simplest form. Even FF1 had more story despite having mute protagonists because FF1 had a lot more worldbuilding and the twist was actually good.

FF3 never picks up storywise, it's best enjoyed for the gameplay.

Also FF5 is basically FF3 but done better in every single way, complete with final boss that has the exact same power as final boss of FF3 but again done much better.

Is it possible to speed up on ppsspp? This game is slow as fuck.

Yes, look for the Turbo button in keybinds.

"Unthrottle" button actually. That's how it's called.
I've got it bound to Space.

When you put Refia as a thief so you can stare at her ass.

3? it doesn't
American 3? it doesn't

>American 3? it doesn't
>FF6
>doesn't
Pic related.

3 is the best FF.
Don't even try to prove me wrong.

Final Fantasy got good around 4
and it lasted until about 9

When you emulate the fan translation on the nes

>Final Fantasy got good around 4
Except FF1 is amazing.
2 and 3 are weak sure but they both contributed a ton of things that became series staples. Think of them as rough prototypes for what would come later.

There's nothing really wrong with 1 and 3. They're just simple rpgs. Being simple doesn't make them bad.

I liked FF2.

After you unlock the archer job, fucking archers, they are pretty damn good in that game.

...

Doesn't mean it's not objectively flawed.

But it still contributed to the series as a hell and even spawned a whole spinoff series built around the core of FF2's gameplay (SaGa series).

All in all every single FF game has its merits, even the weakest entries which I'd say are indeed 2 and 3.

I bet its story was revolutionary for its time.

>I bet its story was revolutionary for its time.
It wasn't.
It ripped off the Star Wars original trilogy harder than Force Awakens did. Seriously that game is literally Star Wars: Original Trilogy: Fantasy Edition
Complete with 2 Death Stars (Dreadnaught and the Cyclone).

Yes, but for a video game.

Also, so many fucking characters died in that game.

The music was good, at least.

those look like bravely default characters. More so than I expected (i havent played any final fantasy games)

After you beat Djinn.

Music and the enemy design are by far the best things about FF2. Especially if you're playing the PSP remake with gorgeous high res spritework.

Personally preferred the GBA version, but the PSP has undeniably better music.

Bravely Default is a throwback to classic FF games (aka pre-FF6).

How could you prefer the shitty GBA version when it's inferior to PSP in every single way?

It feels kind of inconsistent in quality, in terms of music and graphics.

>graphics
Oh come on. I can understand the music but the sprites?

Look at the overworld. Its blurry as fuck. The main characters look weird.

>It feels kind of inconsistent in quality, in terms of music and graphics.
Do you have brain damage or something? It's extremely consistent. You're thinking of the iOS/Android versions of FF5 and FF6.

The graphics are by far the best part about the PSP remakes of FF1, FF2 and FF4. They are beautiful high res spritework for everything, from character sprites to enemies to the levels themselves. Everything is consistent and flows together perfectly.
Music being played by a real orchestra only adds to the atmosphere.

They're perfect remakes.

>Look at the overworld. Its blurry as fuck. The main characters look weird.
Seriously you have brain damage, get cancer and die.

>this
>blurry as fuck
Get glasses

>main characters look weird
LITERALLY SAME FUCKING DESIGNS ARE THE GBA VERSION, JUST 4 TIMES HIGHER RESOLUTION

MAN LOOK AT HOW BLURRY THIS IS LMAO!

Dwarves desu

BUT THIS TOTALLY ISNT BLURRY THO LMAO!

Whoa, I'm just stating a preference for one version, I'm not saying the PSP version is bad.

5 is literally 3 but with better characters, music, and job mechanics.

that's a town

that's ff1

jesus christ calm down

>5 is literally 3 but with better characters, music, and job mechanics
>literally
Please don't use words you don't know the meaning of.

5 is more like a retread of 3 done properly but it's not a remake or a reimagining of 3, it's a whole new game. It just uses some of the concepts that were used in 3

>that's ff1
They look the same you fucking retard, are on the same engine you retard and had the same sprite artists working on them you retard.
Neck yourself, get cancer and die.

Character design is so good. Yoshida should be the only guy designing FF characters.

>Neck yourself, get cancer and die.

Trying way too hard.

>no counterarguments
I accept your defeat

Yoshida is underused, his work is great.

Not even me, faglord

Is this RPGMaker?
Because it looks like it. Fucking terrible.

I don't know, man.
That's a lot of really girly guys to deal with.

Ebin ebin for teh win

>applies shitty filter
>complains about blurryness

He designed the characters, not their models.

You've never seen an RPG maker game in your life if you think any of them compare to FF1/2/4 PSP spritework

Happy now faglord?

The Crystal Tower and onwards :^)

Not that user, but this does actually look a bit blurry when compared to

Cool memes.
Seriously. Everything looks like generic RPG Maker art in the PSP versions. It doesn't look good at all.

Not the original dude, but I prefer the GBA version of FF1/2 (Well, actually I prefer the NES version with the overhaul for 1) because the graphics on the PSP version feel homogenized to me. Too clean.

And I know it's basically the same, but there is a small difference and you know that.

It just has more detailed trees so they blend in better.
And more realistic, darker color palette.
Which again makes it blend more.

Fair enough.

>neo/v/ermin actually calling the PSP remakes "RPG Maker"
>when clearly never seeing an RPG maker in their lives to begin with
Yeah, get cancer and die every single one of you, I'm out. Your taste is beyond shit and all of you have sub 80 IQ.

>You've never seen an RPG maker game in your life if you think any of them compare to FF1/2/4 PSP spritework
Looks like three peas in a pod to me, and the chipset from that same city screenshot looks exactly like stock rpgmaker assets

>so upset he had to post twice
gosh darn, stop being so mad at video games, user

I bet the last time you saw an RPG Maker was RPGMaker 95

Why couldn't we get a version like this for all the Nes/Snes Final Fantasy?

Fuck you square enix.

Give me 3-5-6 like this goddammit.

Instead is DS polygons for 3 and 4 or that THING from cellphones for 5 and 6.

5 and 6 have potential to have full remakes after 7.

Guts in the bottom right.

Hope you're right user, really hope you're right.

I said "DS polygons" but i didn't specify that i don't think that's actually bad, it's just that i prefer the PSP versions.

At least with the DS they actually put the effort and remade the games.

Now what they did with 5 and 6?

Straight up disrespectful, fuck them.

really like those models

>monster
pretty cool looking

>party
ugh disgusting rpgmaker shit

I didn't expect this topic to last this long when I first saw it. To answer OP's question: the gimmick dungeons stop after Castle Hein I think. No it does not get easier. Do not fly over the large city if you aren't ready to grind Dragoon for a while

While I'm here, I previously said in LORE threads that the unused text suggested Ninja was originally moved to Castle Hein. Turns out, that was actually Evoker, because Google translate is crap.

III almost had a Wonderswan release:
unseen64.net/2012/10/11/final-fantasy-3-wonderswan-color-cancelled/

What do job levels even do in this game? I'm kind of confused how this system works.

So, I'm playing 5 and loving the job system and some antics from the characters. Are there any other games like this in series?

I'm at the cave after the dwarf place, what jobs should I be using right now?

>III almost had a Wonderswan release:
>unseen64.net/2012/10/11/final-fantasy-3-wonderswan-color-cancelled/

>almost

Aside from III, there's 4 Heroes of Light and the Bravely Default series, but the former is pretty weird and I haven't played the latter. Even in III, they cut a number of party interactions.
I think X-2 also had a job system, but never played that.

Just enjoy the ride user.

here ya go, bud

Dragon Quest III, VI, VII, and IX.

>photobombing

Thanks guys. Does DQ5 have job system?

I don't think so.

It doesn't. It's one of the worst games in the series.

funny thing is that you fight this guy as a black knight before he joins your party

damn. Oh well, gonna roll with either VII or IX.

It does not.

There's not enough of this.

Leon is Lancer

Final Fantasy only got good starting with VI, the rest before that are a waste of time.

>ff before 7
>whoa im so totally retro and like and like honoring old games and such, the older games are the better they are cause theyre like classics you know!

Oh fuck off. V and VI were good games.

...

>V
>good
A FUCKING TREE

...

...

The best 3 Final Fantasy games are VI, VII, & IX. Any other opinions are wrong.

IX is slow as balls.
