I don't get it, are you complaining that it's difficult or that you got trapped in the room? If it's the latter that's not a good reason to hate the game.
It's me getting stuck in the room. I honestly wanted to give this fucking shit a try until he had to fucking ruin it. I didn't know the controls very well and whenever I tried to escape, the annoying lizard dog things would just stun me or hit me.
To be honest, all I wanted to do was play the game without being told I suck

You'll get used to the controls user, and yeah sometimes it's annoying to get trapped in small areas when the camera gets all wonky. Usually when that happens to me I warp away from the area so I can get in a clear space to fight.

How about you attempt a hunt after you are familiar with how the game plays? Hunts have some of the most difficult enemies in the game.

did you try pressing even a single button? For the very first encounter in the game you could have just held down circle and auto attacked them all to death, or held square and auto evaded until your buddies killed them all

Don't quit yet, and don't rush it either. Take your time playing the game so you can master the controls/parrying etc.
I wasn't told I had to "hold" anything down, because of this, I was button mashing instead. This would probably explain the reason why I sucked so bad.

mashing and holding do pretty much the same thing
Holding the button isn't great for actually attacking, as it causes you to have problems, its better to tap the button when needed, but Warping you need to do so. Holding it down often prevents you from combo breaking.
play the fucking tutorial. If you can't get your shit together after doing that then you should just quit video games for good.
