Motherfucker
My pre-order confirmation was late but i got it just now, too bad i'm going digital this time and miss on the sweet install screen

Lucky. I doubt any stores around here will break street date.

cunt

The install screens were PS3 only.

youtube.com/watch?v=TOyGQQjy8LA is this man lying?

You can watch install screen on PS4 as well

Pre-orded already, and I never pre order anything.
Following the Series since the first one, was affraid of never seen any more western releases after Y4.
I bought Y5 in jap like Kenzan and Ishin, was about to order Zero too, when they announced the western release.
Hope they keep their word and bring to the west Kiwami and 6, one of the most underrated series in gaming story.

didnt break street date. got friends at sega :)

You can view them from the menu on the PS4 version, I've only played the PS3 one so it slipped my mind, sorry. Notice how there's no progress bar on the screen.

the back for those interested

im friend with a videogame shoopkeeper he usually sells me games before d1 ill try to get it later wish me luck lads!!!

Is Mahjong a good way to get some money to level up shit? 'Cause i'm already gonna spend over 10 hours on that fucking game anyway so might as well use it for a good cause

Yep, but I imported it year ago and played the shit out of it. Understood the plot, kind of, but don't even know a jack shit about japanese

Missed out on the first two on the ps2 and now it's broken. Is it better to start with this one or with the third?

>the ballin' intro song isn't in the western releases
youtube.com/watch?v=FbK9KpA6ttE
>we got this instead
youtube.com/watch?v=Bg1DxItA8pE

Only game i've ever pre ordered next to TPP, hope it doesn't turn out like that as well

Third is arguably the worst entry to start on, aside from 5 maybe
If you're going PS3 then 4 is a much better entry point

did your order it from Amazon or?

Honestly I never played 2 , but I have played the rest, sadly I know I'm missing out but you should be fine, if you do start with three, make sure you watch those cinematics for the previous two, to understand the characters more

>4
>good entry point
What am I reading?
Start with 1 or 0.

friend works at sega

I'll hopefully get my copy on Friday. Please. ;_;

What Yakuza games actually had western releases or subs?

Kiwami will come to the west this summer, is a remake of the original.
Get Zero now and then go from Kiwami to 6.

1~5, 0 and Dead Souls
It's missing Kenzan, Ishin and the 2 PSP ones
Kiwami and 6 are confirmed for the west

All mainline games, which are 1-5 and 0.
Dead Souls is the only spin off title to get a localization, but it ain't too hot.

Chinese versions come with a full Chinese translation and no English subs.
Good for China, bad for us EOPs.

Play 1 and 2 or don't play the series at all.
Kiwami is garbge and SHOULD NOT BE PLAYED.

Thanks, never thought any of them did might try picking them up then.

4's arguably a better game outright than 3, and it introduces a ton of key players who are important in later games, while still giving you a quick lowdown of the events of previous games. If you can't play release order than there are worse places to start than 4.

Kiwami isn't that bad and its no worse than Dead Souls. But I agree you shouldnt play it before playing the original or HD one first.

4 is actually a great place to start.

I always recommend 1 or 4. Though 0 works too now that it's out.

What's wrong with Kiwami? 1 was a cool game so I don't see how a remake could make it worse if it keeps the story and improves the combat?

It's shit in every way and ruins everything.

Ok but why? I plan to get it as soon as it's released here

I started at 3 and I'm already on chapter 4.

Not him and didn't get to play but Kiwami has some really weird decisions going on
To upgrade the 4th style you have to keep doing the Majima shit, which means fighting against Majima a whole lot and fighting and fighting and seems like to be one hell of a grind
Also this game's variant of "Feel the head" is a piece of shit, dudes will glow in a color and you have to use a heat move of the style matching the color to do a special attack, but there's like only one per style and while the boss is glowing he will regen health like crazy, a really bad take on feel the heat
Also combat wise there seems to be no new improvement over 0 aside from being able to switch styles more quickly, you're just playing 0 again but without Majima

It's essentially a modded 0 that removes an entire city and playable Majima. Good remake of the first game but not a great full game as such. And you'll fight Majima so much you won't care that he's barely in 6, and not in a good way.

Kiwami is cool, don't listen to that user. I wouldn't say play it over 1 but play it AFTER you've played 1.

Literally any game is fine to start with. Maybe not 5 because it doesn't contain the recaps of earlier games, I guess.

Numerous fans started wih 3, myself included, and I fucking loved it. I still think it's better than 1, though 2 deserves all the praise it gets. But 3 is in no way a bad game, just the main story isn't as strong as most other entries. Even so it had its moments. Okinawa was fun and had some good substories and Rikiya was one of the greatest supporting characters in the franchise.

Is this any good?
PC port?

Yes.
No.

The biggest problem with 3's story is that the Dojima Clan civil war stuff in the middle is great, and when it ends it shunts you back to Okinawa doing more orphanage shit, which honestly should all have been resolved before Kiryu went back to Kamurocho. Kills the pacing stone dead.

3 would be so much better if all the orphanage stuff were substories, i'd gladly do them at my own pace and with some experience rewards

pre-ordered it, it's my first Yakuza game I don't have a PS3, what am I in for?

Mahjong
Poker
"OOOOW THAT GOTTA HURT"
Outrun
"FUCK!!"
Dancing
And so on

>you will never play Yakuza for the first tme again

I envy you.

MOTHER

Pretty damn good time.
Starts out slow, but picks up real fucking quick once you get to the first boss.

Definitely. If it was one of the newer games it probably would have been relegated to a major sidequest mechanic, like hunting or taxi driving. Stuff like maxing out Kiryu's friendship meter with all the orphans by doing certain tasks going to PTA meetings, coaching the boys for a little league game, or raising enough money to repair and expand the orphanage. That way you get all the bonding stuff in there without forcing the player to go through twee cliches in the main plot, maybe focus more on the conflict between Okinawa's local yakuza families.

>tfw i know a guy who never played Yakuza but and was interested in 0 but started completely ignoring it since 6 was announced and is only interested in playing 6
What can i do to cure him of his wrong ways?

Show him footage of 6's combat, then show him footage of 0's. I guarantee he won't want to touch 6 after that.

6 is a disgusting dumpster fire piece of garbage, so that should do it.

Seriously, what's wrong with these people?
>a friend has never played any Metal Gear game
>got hyped as hell for MGSV
>actually liked it

Yakuza 1 was pretty fun.

>tfw remember how much of a big deal it was that we got Yakuza 3 (then turns out it was censored to shit)

>realize the Yakuza 3 hype train was 7 years ago

>only 30 hours
Was it really that short or are you just a professional speed runner? It felt like an eternity for me. It's been a while, though.

Well he did play the demo for 6 and claimed it was the best demo he ever played (or watched, i dunno) in his life, my eyebrow raised to new heights

It happened to people who want to play Persona 5 also.

They should remake 2, 3, and Kiwami for PS4 with new features and substories. Maybe a playable Rikiya chapter or two in 3. Just avoid Kiwami's mistakes. Release it as a trilogy and then just port 4 and 5 straight.

What kind of game is this? I've always heard good things and since I'm not going to be doing anything for a month and a half i'm gonna need a bunch of games to play.

3D Beat em up in a small open city. When you get into fights, it transitions to battle mode where you are limited in how far you can go. You can pick up stuff laying around to beat people up with etc

Imagine a old school beat-em-up with RPG elements and tons of side activity
You fight punks on the street doing brutal moves and picking objects on the ground, then after the fight is over you like go to the SEGA arcade and play a shoot 'em up or go to the casino do some blackjack or go to karaoke let loose
It's like the ultimate time waster

I wonder how well 0 will sell in the West

So kind of like a 3D streets of rage? I've also heard that its a pretty accurate representation of japan

Beat 'em up with tons of mini-games and cutscenes.
Like a 3D River City Ransom.

Pretty long game too, I did a lot of the stuff in 0 and I clocked in at around 80 hours.

>pretty accurate depiction of japan
Depends what you mean. The city is basically Kabukicho copypasted into a video game, so yes, that's accurate. Konbini, real restaurants, Don Quixote too. Story wise, not at fucking all.

>13
Thanks I've decided to pre-order it since i'm assuming this is the best place to start with the series

Well, the plot devices aren't realistic at all, but like the interations between the yakuzas seems to be pretty spot on

Except for the fat fuck in 3

I don't believe that guy is real

Aren't the Persona stories pretty much independent, though? Yakuza and MGS stories are inherently linked to each other.

I don't really consider that short though. Also the vast majority of that was just running around and trying to do side quests so it's probably much much shorter if you know what you're doing.

Well, i doubt people like Majima exist in the real yakuza

You'll probably learn a thing or two about Japan while you play.

Kamurucho is what said, and Osaka is Osaka.

I rushed through 1 in order to hop right into 2 and dedicate the side questing and minigaming there, finished 1 in 13 or 15 hours

the gameplay looks interesting but the prequels came out like a decade ago of course not everyone has played them

1's really not that long. Took me something like 40 hours to get the platinum trophy in the HD remake, and most of that was trying to max out Haruka's affection level.

I had it preorderd on Amazon but as of yesterday there was still no confirmation on when it was going to ship, so I cancelled it and just pre-purchased it on PSN.

There's no requirement at all to have played previous Persona games to enjoy a new one.

woah, a PS4 game? Sup Forums told me this is impossible

A videogame
Not a movie despite the heavy story focus or any pretentious bullshit
A pure bona fide videogame
The kind of shit where a drunkard shows up in front of you like "Hey man throw money at yourself to get stronger" and you do it and you get stronger

Majima is only crazy when Kiryu and Saejima are around. He's relatively sane otherwise, except for the scene where he had to defuse the bomb.

Well unless you hurt his blind waifu. Then he goes bugfuck.

Preordered on Amazon for the business edition on January tenth.
No shipping estimate yet.
Business edition no longer available on Amazon.
I'm gonna get the standard version, aren't I?

Yes.

>tfw pre-ordered in early December
>still no estimate

Isn't Business Edition just the first-printing, like all those "day one edition" games?

It's still listed there. Probably like

Will any hostess ever get on her level?

Ive never played a yakuza game.

Im torn between this and RE7 on 24th...

Do you want a long game or a short game?

who was it again?

Yakuza 0 will be around 40-50 hours with side quests. RE7 seems about 5-6 on a normal run.

Also Yakuza0 has a demo on JPN PS4

Buy both and you won't be torn anymore

Is the demo still up? I checked the other day and couldn't find it.

Riku, Kiryu's hosttess on 5

Pretty sure the demo is down now.
They pull those demos after a year.

If you like soap operas Yakuza
If you like horror RE

40 hours? That's what i'll spend on Mahjong alone

>That Majima
Oh shit, do we see the moment he goes complete Mad Dog of Shimano and cuts his hair?

Does this one have Koikoi? I love Hanafuda Koikoi
