How do you feel about Yooka-Laylee? How do you think it will stack up against Banjo/Conker/Dong 64?

bampu~

Casino level looks like shit. The rest of the game might be good.

>stand up to Conker/Dong64
you know that bar isn't set very high right? In fact, you could just step over that bar

>How do you feel about Yooka-Laylee? How do you think it will stack up against Banjo
It doesn't strike me as being as aesthetically creative, in some respects. Banjo was a bear with a blue backpack that a fucking bird lived in. Yooka and Laylee just look like Dreamworks characters.

Aside from that, I don't know. I replayed BK a few months ago and loved it so I know it isn't just nostalgia, but whether YL will live up to it is hard to say. It can't be any worse than Donkey Kong 64.

N64 collectathons were my life as a kid. I think this game looks bad.

I expect Banjo-Tooie Lite

and there's nothing wrong with that. Tooie is an excellent game and holds its own with Kazooie in different ways. Its flaws are overstated and its additions are overlooked.

Unity engine doomed it

It will surpass those titles with ease.
Game design has come a long way since the 90s.

I hope it's alright, and there seems to be talent behind it.
I just noticed how close the release date is.

Looks great overall. Only complaints thus far are:
>Helicopter in Cashino is too loud
>Cashino looks way too boom and bust, there's a bunch of shit going on on the map edge, inside of various constructs, and above the ground floor and the bulk of the ground floor is a barren wasteland with enemies who pop-in as you come into range of them
>Facial animation is a bit lacking, especially notable on the Doctor woman with the tentacles
Everything else looks nice thus far.

It looks terrible, so it's meeting the quality level of Banjo, Conker, and DK64.

seems like the kind of game you have to play on mute to avoid killing yourself

Fuck you and your digits

Oooh shit

Ouch. You fucker

Art design's terrible. Genre's dead for a reason.

It'll be mediocre.

Why bring back shitty collectathons when you can bring back tank controls?

I'm more excited for Snakepass d e s u

...

I think all the casino would really need is a bunch of gamblers. Maybe make them kind of like the Tribals from JFG(i.e. some fuzzy cute thing), but with more body types, and you can run around attacking them to cause them to die in ridiculous ways like simply exploding into hunks of bone-meat or if you see one win at slots you can run up and steal some of the gems before they can grab them all.

I am a little worried about the OST. Nothing has jumped out at me yet. I mean worst case it's just something you forget about while playing, I'm sure it will fit the level and such but when you hear former Rare guys being thrown around you want that listen on youtube level soundtrack quality. I don't think we're getting that.

I think the other major complaint is going to be too big of levels. 25 pagies per level so we are getting some big levels that expand (I'm guessing 15 pagies with two expansions with 5 pagies per level). I haven't seen a BT warp pad mechanic yet ether. I'm in the minority but most people preferred BK which especially early on had smaller type levels where you could pretty much see everything no matter where you were. I'm expecting levels even bigger than BT since there's only 5 and I think that's going to turn people off.

Looks like a shit generic 3d platforming

I believe this as well but it doesn't have nostalgia on it's side so it won't reach the levels of BK.

I think the Casino level will be the weakest just because of the mechanic that you collect casino coins or whatever throughout and trade them in at 10/1 for pagies instead of just getting the pagies.

Wonder Boy is going to be better

Anyone else think they look like the current generation of cheap kids cgi saturday morning shows?

Advanced enough that they don't look like fucking reboot of yore but still creepily plasticine-ish

soundcloud.com/laced-records/sets/yooka-laylee-original-game-soundtrack-album-sampler/s-tGRH3

Basically this

It can EASILY be worse than DK64. It is pretty likely to be, in fact

>complaining about collecting shit in a collect-a-thon game

Why did they get musicians with entirely different styles? Sounds really weird listening to those in a row

Its pretty much a banjo reskin so I'm expecting it to play like an n64 game. Take that however you will, but I played that shot as a kid and could forgive the clunky as fuck gameplay

There's a new wonder boy?

I'll probably love it because I'm a Tooiefag.

>trying to be more like Tooie
>enjoyed Tooie for being larger, but it did feel pretty boring at times just getting around
>Kirkhope's music is pretty unimpressive so far
>Wise's music sounds amazing, but doesn't really fit the game, just like the minecart minigame
>Casino is the worst world shown so far
>Yooka and Laylee are pretty bland in terms of design
>buying abilities whenever
>sound mixing is terrible
>overall seems to lack polish, animations still seem janky
I honestly would have preferred it being delayed again.

Ayo hol up, are they using the Banjo-Kazooie instrument samples, except not compressed to hell?

I'm saying that the casino cashin mechanic sounds like it will be worse than just getting pagies outright. Like going to Snides for bannana's was boring.

horrible character design

I already pre-ordered it. I'm willing to take a risk on it.

Il buy it and play it for nostalgia but I feel it will be too easy and short

However Im much older now so that could be why

>Il buy it and play it for nostalgia but I feel it will be too easy and short
Trust me, video games are easier than they were during the N64/PS1 days.

Yeah, what the fuck were they thinking the main characters look like shit. DK, Conker and banjo had designs that were pleasant to the eye, these things are just abominations

Looks fun.

Has no cohesive visual design, sure Mario had this sometimes but generally there was something to tie it all together, YL just looks like a mess.

DK64? Are you serious? Thats a standard? That is the worst fucking game I have ever played in my life. BT and Conker sucked too from a gameplay perspective. In fact the whole meme that Rare went to shit after Microsoft bought them is just a meme. They lost their way at the end of the N64, why do you think Nintendo dumped them?

DIE SONYGGER
DIEEEEEEEEEE

As a nintendrone he is right. BK is actually pretty good, a bit slippery but doesnt really affect the game since theres no platforming. BT fixes this with super tight control at the cost of well...everything else. It doesnt help that the N64 is nintendos worst console overall even if theres a ton of nostalgia behind it.

Everything is stacked against this game I'm afraid
