Music is pretty meaningless in open world games, it's all about how good the ambience tracks are.
That's uninspired as fuck. Random horns, random notes, no musicality to it.
>we wuz drum
>no musicality to it
That's exactly how BOTW is seeming to do it. Music is more of a dynamic thing like getting into a battle or riding fast on your horse.
I'm sorry, even Skyward Sword had better soundtrack, so far, and we're talking about a very shitty entry in the franchise.
youtube.com
Find a flaw.
Bullshit
Final Fantasy 15 may have been a completely mediocre game; but I sure as hell was taking every opportunity to fight monsters in Cleigne because of this beauty of a battle song.
youtube.com
BotWs music outside of the trailers has been pure garbage so far
Except that Cleigne theme is garbage, this is the real god tier battle song.
youtube.com
There comes a point where, regardless of intentions, your opinion is so dumb and wrong and gay that it becomes shitposting.
youtube.com
Jesus Christ, that battle theme is so good, I can't get over it, made even the blandest encounter feel like the most epic battle ever. Best song in the OST is Hammerhead's store theme.
I like it and Blinded by Light have opposite names with is fitting given that it was originally called Versus XIII, they're also my two favorite battle themes from the series.
Guess like Wind Waker, where sections or layers are added like when nearing an enemy->fighting the enemy, sailing w/o the sail->sailing w/ the sail etc
not complete without epona in the background
Isn't this one of the first examples of dynamic music in a game?
youtube.com
I really love the Steppe Talus theme. It sounds so goofy but still somehow important and powerful.
Mario 64 did it with Dire Dire Docks.
Cleigne theme isn't garbage, you are garbage
>best song in ost is hammerhead store theme
fucking what?
Oh yeah I forgot about that one, same composer at least.
youtube.com
>mfw I just now realized their names are related to each other
>Veiled in Black
>Blinded by Light
youtube.com
Reminds me of Crisis Core. Good times, man.
Battle music seems to be the weakest part of BotW
You're comparing an enemy encounter song to a bombastic main melody. They serve completely different purposes - the former invokes tension while the latter is grandiose
Objective best song coming through.
youtube.com
just like a cat walking over a piano
and why do they put accordions in all their goddamed music, it all started with the stupid nintendogs and now they're in every game
nintendo is dead
If you have shit taste I guess
>one of the first examples
>games from decades prior did it
>fucking Frogger did it
Combine
with the webm in
simply magic.
post one
i cant find a decent score
that was the song that made me worry about BOTW
Are you fucking retarded? I bet you're the kind of dumbass that thinks Tool is amazing music.
Nah, he's right. The ambient tracks are great though.
youtube.com
>mfw you finish Nioh, an extremely violent Souls and Ninja Gaiden fusion, filled with blood, gore and demons and this song plays during the credits
I was laughing my ass off, I couldn't even breathe. What were they thinking? The song's pretty good though.
youtube.com
get a job get a job get a job
That's horizontal resequencing though, Ocarina of Time's was vertical.
>BUT SONY
Every time.
this is suppose to be epic?
youtube.com
Twilight Princess had such a shitty soundtrack for the most part
What? I thought this thread turned into a OST one.
I thought it was funny too, everything leading up to it was so fucking trainwrecky.
Nioh would make a really great bad anime.
Oh no.

Not very fond of it, I hope they upload the trailer theme with the chorus, is godly.
youtube.com
>walk into room
>suddenly three lizalfos
I thought I was crazy, but that slow zoom was fucking with my head.
Koji Kondo is going to die before he gets to score another game. He's repeatedly said in interviews that he wants to write more music but they keep giving him a bunch of bullshit busywork tasks like babysitting the younger hacks who are just trying to do a worse job of what he did years ago. When he does do new music it's still as amazing as ever, why can't they just let him do the new Zelda? Why can't they let him do Mario, one last time? Why can't I have one more fucking Kondo OST? Even Mario Maker had like two other composers on it after it was hyped up as being just him. I'm so sick of this. He's the greatest VGM composer who ever lived and I want to find the stupid shitter who's responsible for him being held back and kill them. I genuinely wish nothing but ill will on Nintendo for their treatment of him. Fuck man.
One guy made a cover of it that was very accurate.
>tons of people to do this soundtrack
>get the cunt who did the forgettable New Leaf music
>but muh 7PM
Maybe he should fucking leave Nintendo. If he is such an ungrateful fuck then he has to go.
Does anyone know who composed the music for this trailer?
youtube.com
Was it the main composer for the game or someone else?
this sounds like shitty elevator music in an urban hotel lounge.
That sounds like fucking trash honestly. Feels more suited for Pikmin than Zelda.
Maybe you should fucking kill yourself, you little nigger. Maybe you should learn some goddamn respect.
>those fucking comments
as corny as this is to say animal crossing saved my life. i was very lonely and didnt get along with anyone, i was astranged from my family and would lock myself in my room for days, i eventually had suicidal thoughts until i ran into a tumblr artical about animal crossing. i bought animal crossing new leaf and as lame as this is, i felt more welcomes there and the fact the villiagers missed me and liked me (i knew they were npcs) just the thought of it felt nice, i met people who also played the game and we would hang on the island till dawn and it gave me nostalic feelings of my childhood. i love animal crossing its a great therephy game real talk.
What makes this music amazing is how simple it is with only a handful of notes.
>why can't they just let him do the new Zelda?
Because it has to be unmemorable
Not gonna happen, his last Mario OST was 64 (although he did a good amount of Sunshine) and his last Zelda OST was Majora's Mask.
He's supervised and made the odd contribution here and there but pretty sure he's done.
I actually think BotW's OST is far better than Skyward Sword's. Zelda's Lullaby sounds like shit backwards.
Koji is a fucking joke. Always has been and always will be. He is no Uematsu, Sugiyama nor Shimomura
It's sad that the trailer themes are the only good music pieces we've heard so far.
Console Zelda music has taken a huge nosedive starting with TP.
Manaka Kataoka (Spirit Tracks and New Leaf)
>tfw the only decent songs for recent Zelda games are remakes of old songs
pretty sad desu
>nor Shimomura
I'd say that's a good thing, she managed to single handedly ruin Xenoblade by doing one of the worst fight songs ever.
youtube.com
they already have an ace in the hole
but they didn't even let him do all of SS's music
and I don't think he's doing any music for BOTW
oh well, we can wait til mario odyssey to finally hear some good music from nintendo again
nobody will remember botw's music in a week
crap music only belongs in a crap game
>Spirit Tracks and New Leaf
Oh lord, thats average
>Shimomura
She hasn't given a shit in years. Paper Jam was probably her weakest work yet.
Mahito Yokota has done most of the Mario music since Galaxy 1, doubt Kondo will do much for Odyssey.
>Shimomura
She hasn't made a soundtrack worth a damn in over a decade. Final Fantasy XV literally has a ripoff of the fucking Skyrim theme.
Mediocre game. God tier music.
youtube.com
Whoa this is good
One song. Repeat after me. One song and and she bullshitted it.
youtube.com
Better song composed by her
There was this point and click Arthur game I had for PC, don't remember the name, but there was one optional part of the game where you played a game on his computer, in the game. And it was a deep sea adventuring thing, and when you got deeper in the water there were more fish and stuff. and there was one that scared me so bad I didn't play it at all after that. It was one of those fish with a light tentacle thing off their forehead.
Bullshit, it was just horribly orchestrated in SS.
The theme itself is actually quite good with proper orchestration.
She didn't gave a damn.
I was shocked by the game's soundtrack until I realized she didn't even compose half the soundtrack. Some intern did most of it.
>Some intern did most of it.
Really?
>Shimomura
>people praise her for Xenoblade Chronicles' soundtrack despite only doing like three songs
Throughout the 90s, sure.
Now? Way too samey.
>she didn't even compose half the soundtrack.
What? She did the majority of it and others like Suzuki and Shibata did the best songs anyways.
youtube.com
youtube.com
You know how wikipedia ONLY has her name?
False, some Twitter composer guy said he composed shit like Luna's theme, Ravus battle theme, and other songs
Surprised nobody has posted this yet.
I don't see what is so bad about that song?
Relatively, sure maybe it doesn't really stand out compared to the rest of the soundtrack, but it's fine.
>I don't see what is so bad about that song?
It's ear grating garbage.
>shimomura-san, give us some music
>okay, do you want happy bouncy MIDI brass that becomes menacing strings or do you want quiet marimba with piano?
>w-well, if that's all you can do...
>Uematsu

Those are just the composers, Shimomura arranged all of the Uematsu classics and Suzuki is confirmed on twitter for doing Ravus' theme so even this isn't the most accurate.
that's who I was talking about
he is nintendo's ace in the hole, perhaps the only along with toru minigeihsi who can carry nintendo's musical legacy, and they're not using him to his full potential
all the best tracks in SS were his
Pretty sure they're talking about FF, not Xenoblade.
Kiyota nor ACE+ were involved with Final Fantasy XV and Kiyota did more than every composer combined on Xenoblade.
Yokota is godly, Gusty Garden Galaxy is the best Mario song.
While I don't think it fits for a romantic comedy, I agree that this doesn't sound or feel like proper battle music at all. Who was the composer who created this trash?
Real final boss theme coming through.
wtf I love you now
yokota dropped the ball fucking hard with the mario odyssey main theme though
