Alright so the dust has actually settled, the subsequent shitstorm has died down...

alright so the dust has actually settled, the subsequent shitstorm has died down, the autistic fandom fizzled out and the rest of the freaks fucked off to /vg/

can we have an actual Undertale thread without any shitposting now? cause i really like this game, and i wanna know what you guys thought of it

undyne is my wife and I want asgore's massive bara cock up my ass while alphys watches

I still love it. It's a one-time experience, that you can replay one or two times for some extra fun. Great fucking music and very comfy.

ASRIEL

you. I like you

you guys can fuck off

It was a nice game, Sup Forums tends to hate anything new or popular and the autistic fanbase didn't help to improve that
But it had fun characters nice music and a really good story that only the magic of vidya could Show
The game final message was to learn when things end and moving on, Even toby said he wanted undertale to die fast to avoid another FNAF Fandom
All and all, it's really good and really worth playing

overrated shit. also, return to your general, faggot

>i wanna know what you guys thought of it
It's a good game, but it didn't deserve it's popularity.
Toby is smart, and having a part of the Homestuck fanbase to begin with was a god bless for him.

About the game itself, battle system, characters, story and music is good... but the overworld and game progression is a bit hollow (most people will remember the boss fights and a few dialogs, but nobody will remember the "puzzles" and "gameplay sequences" that were between boss fights)
Also, the "Genocide route" feels a bit rushed and the game lacks a real "Hard mode"

Almost didn't play it because of the Sup Forums memes, but it's a very decent 8 hour experience. Great music, mostly charming characters, clever writing, mechanics and it managed to make me care. Worst thing I can say about is that some of the writing (Alphys) didn't work and certain plot points were a little contrived in hindsight.
It doesn't deserve to be labelled the best thing ever, nor utter shit like Sup Forums would have you believe. Seems to be a problem Sup Forums has in general anytime anything gets too popular for its own good - if it was a 10 year old indie game that no one knew about it would be adored here.

If a game is released in 2015 and it's fanbase is the definition of an obnoxious cult following matched possibly only by Nier Automata with the jury still far from out on that one just how long does it in fact take for that dust to settle? Who kicked the dust up in the first place and why are other points to consider.

This. Little are the reasons to come back. But it was a nice and different experience from most vydia.

To play it, I had to left behind the prejudices result of my time in Sup Forums at the time it came out.

...

I completely agree with these.

Also, would there be an UT 2? Maybe humans and monsters joining together to defeat a big boss?

as a game it's just passable but the characters, story and how it uses videogame features as story contrivances really raises it above a lot of games. I actually think it's a lot like NieR Automata in this aspect, like using the settings menu as a part of the story.
The best thing about undertale is how it shows that telling a story with a videogame is completely different than telling a story in a movie or a book, and if it wasn't a game it would definitely not be as good as it is.

The delusion continues.
Undertale was not a good game.

personally i played it before it exploded all over the internet and loved the crap out of it, I thought it was just going to be some generic rpgmaker horror game but turned out to be something in it's own league entirely. I could also tell from when i finished it that this was gonna be a very polarizing game and that Sup Forums was most definitely going to love it in the beginning and then quickly hate it as it became more and more known, turns out i was right

the moral of the story: fuck Sup Forums's opinion on things, cause they'll probably change their view on it when the thing they like becomes too popular

>namefag
>shitty opinion

move on folks nothing to see here

e.g. : NieR

>the autistic fandom fizzled out

What did he mean by this?

>Says there's a general
>isn't posting in the general
Frick off

>the autistic fandom fizzled out
It was given to the pope as a gift, the autistic fandom is legendary and everlasting.

user

have you SEEN /utg/? it's like /mlp/-lite in there

better to have a safe thread over here than posting over there

Absolutly atrocious characgers, fetarded story but good gameplay.

I wish there was a bossrush.

Are you retarded ?
>Polarizing game come out
>People who are interessed in it play it and love it
>It become popular
>Other people play it
>They dislike it

Couldn't figure that on your own genius ?

Personally I only really enjoyed the Genocide run. Besides a select few moments, I never really cared much for the rest of the game. Love the music though.

Kill you areself tumblcuck

I got stuck at Undyne about a year ago and never picked it up again because I suck at vidya and had other stuff to play and do.

I played the demo before everything blew up and I got pretty invested in just that. I cried like a wuss when I killed Toriel in it. Sadly I probably lost whatever emotional attachment I had with the game due to Sup Forums, spoilers, the cancerous fandom, and my lack of time actively invested in the game. I could pick it up again, but comparing it to my backlog, I'm probably going to want to work on my backlog more.

The game stopped being self aware at waterfall, and starts shoving ugly Dino dyke down your throat. The only thing that saves the game at that point is metaton and flowery.

babby's very bery special wecial first bullethell

It was a very enjoyable experience all around. Well crafted music, some neat characters here and there, and some clever funny writing on top of that. Went in blind last week expecting nothing and was pleasantly surprised. Stay the hell away from the fanbase, it's waifufag and furfag cringefest.

This is the objective truth and always has been.
No, it isn't the greatest game of all time.
Yes, the fanbase is shit.
But set the game on its own and its a good few hours of fun.

I will forever hate the retards that shill this shit game. It was the last time I ever or will ever buy a game Sup Forums recommended without pirating first. Worst redditest game I've ever seen and anyone that unironically enjoys it needs to be purged from the gene pool. Luckily you're mostly faggots and degenerates, so that's almost done.

This image macro looks familiar
Who is that character?

Undertale remains to this day the only game where the fanbase was so fucking obnoxious that it actually dissuaded me from playing it

Before Undertale I thought that that would be impossible to ever happen, since I usually give jackshit about fanbase autism

I'm not sure this is true. The game is short enough that you can remember most of the scenarios and locations fairly easily. The puzzles are not very good (I enjoyed the shooting ones in hotland though) but the gameplay sequences between boss fights were great. Off the top of my head everything leading up to Snowdin (bridge of perils, convenient lamp, the random tile 'puzzle' etc...); the Undertale story exposition dump right before the hall of judgment; Undyne stalking the player; just about everything relating to Mettaton; the restaurant scene with Sans; even the echo flowers telling that corny story and Onionsan were short but memorable sequences.

The bigger problem is that everything after Undyne feels very empty. Hotland is mostly unpopulated and feels more like a videogame dungeon than a real location with NPCs in it (one of the NPCs even remarks on this near one of the shooting puzzles). Snowdin was a really neat little RPG town and I wish that more of the game tried to make the world feel that inhabited.

anyone has a gif of chara's jumpscare?

That sounds like your problem, actually.

How exactly does the fanbase dissuade you from playing it? Why would you even care to find out anything about them in the first place?

It's good, but not THAT good. I'd give it an 8/10

that one aussie chick from FFXIII

>can we have an actual Undertale thread without any shitposting now? cause i really like this game, and i wanna know what you guys thought of it

no

I think it's garbage

fuck off

i thought it was a masterpiece tbqh

Terrible bait, gotta be at least 18 to post on Sup Forums

The soundtrack is really good, the story is well-written and all the meta stuff is a nice cherry on top, with that being said, the graphics are lack-luster & the battle with sans was challenging, but it pales up in comparison to it's source material, Undertale has little replay value, most people I know only played it once, did one route and it was mostly the pacifist one, people who enjoyed Undertale should play the Touhou games or fap to furry porn I do both :^)

>people who enjoyed Undertale should play the Touhou games or fap to furry porn I do both :^)
Gotta commit the suicides my friend

alright anons here's the big one

when you see Frisk, do you see a boy or girl?

It's honestly gone both ways and I can never settle with one or the other.

In the end, I'd say it's fitting for Frisk to be female.

For a story revolving entirely around its characters, it kind of dropped the ball when it didn't let you call them out on their bullshit

thanks to Russ whenever i see Frisk i just see a miniature Jackie Chan saying "Uncle!"

(You)

Guy I guess, while Chara's a qt girl.

He's a tiny Asian boy. The only way you could think differently is if you equipped the ballet equipment like a fruit.

I agree. It's a good example of games that benefit from telling a story through the medium itself.

Good gameplay and visuals, acceptable story, slightly annoying dialogue, very hit or miss music, atrocious heavy handed endings
