RTS game

>RTS game
>it's a defense mission where you need to hold off against overwhelming forces for 30 minutes

the one in WC3?

yeah that one is p fun

god I love that shit

there's nothing I love more in RTS than building autistically huge defences

>the 'overwhelming forces' are actually incredibly small and you can wipe out the whole map fairly effortlessly if you played this game today instead of just remembering playing it as a little kid

but then you still have to wait 30 minutes

Try doing it in the co-op campaign on insane difficulty.

Are you me? I've played the first mission of the Teutons campaign in AoE2 atleast a dozen times
>Building and upgrading towers and walls
>Smart positioning of catapults and archers
>Seeing the enemy army crush themselves at your walls
Pure fun.

Those are the most fun missions, though.

I love the Best mission in CoH: Opposing fronts. Sadly it's a fucking cakewalk since it's the first one but still.

>machinegun nests
>trenches
>barbed wire
>sandbags
>bunkers
>AT guns

fucking love that shit

CoH2 had some good ones. The first half of the campagin is spent holding out against the Germans. Nothing beats throwing conscripts against tanks for no other reason than to slow then down until the timer runs out.

Yeah, though I don't really have a good memory of CoH2 since I bought it on launch and it was a fucking mistake.

...

going on the defense in CoH was easily one of the best RTS experiences I've ever had. It's one thing to slap down turrets and towers and photon cannons and walls to defend a base but in CoH you got your firing angles, sandbags, razor wire, mines, etc.

goddamn it might be time for a reinstall

>RTS game
>it's an escort mission with enemies pouring from all sides along the road

>RTS game
>it's a mission where you have to cover the escape of your allies by holding off wave after wave of enemies

Ant Wars from C+C Red Alert.

>Total War game
>have to fight overwhelming odds for the next half hour or else you'll get steamrolled

>you pull through

>it's a UEF Tech 3 point defense episode

>tfw the first time you defend a city with 600 romans against +1500 gauls

>Overwhelming odds defense mission
>survive for 10 minutes
>it's 15 minutes past that limit already
>you were supposed to get overrun ten times by now
>you're still going

>defense/hold the line mission
>you can actually completely eradicate the opposing forces and the game will notice

>play sc2
>stuck in gold league
>scout enemy
>"shit double gas before rax? something weird is going to happen"
>prepare,, no more probes, 3 gates, pump out zealot stalker
>3 mins later, nothing
>he just had no idea what he was doing, expanded and now is far, far ahead and you lose
or
>show you have the hardcounter for one unit
>"surely he knows that if he makes it, he'll lose. let's now make the counter to that hardcounter I have"
>nope he just made a gorillion of them and killed the hardcounter and wins

I FUCKING HATE BEING TOO INTELLIGENT FOR RTS GAMES!!!!!!!!!!!

>Objective: Hold the Line

mfw

>When the last stand mission is also the first mission after the tutorial

ABSOLUTE MADMEN

>playing the 2v2 bridge maps with a bro vs hard/expert cpu's when both of you already know what's the deal

The only "right" strategy is to wire/sandbag/tank trap both of the destructible bridges (north and south) in the first 3 minutes of the game while focusing all forces into the middle passage which is almost always indestructible. 60 % of the time even expert CPU's can't counter that, but sometimes they spam enough artillery and tanks to initially punch through and make it actually interesting. It's just so much fun playing as Wehr, building medic bunkers and losing volksgrenadiers to have them turn into grenadiers and then buy them panzerschrecks and MG's
