I'm interested because its Vietnam.
When was the last time we actually had a Vietnam War game?
I already have 37 hours played but yeah I can't wait still
I never got to try the beta, is it an improvement on RO/RS?
Played the Beta and I was depressed at first, kept getting my ass handed to me and randomly dying.
Last time I played I shot down a helicopter w/ 5 ppl in it w/ my RPG, went behind enemy lines and blasted another 6 ppl with my SKS. Then I became a grenadier and kept blowing gooks away.
I got used to how to play then they shut the beta off. I've been ITCHING to play ever since.
They should do a mandatory install of the game for random Steam users and block them from playing anything else until they've put in 50 hours.
You know, for the authentic 'nam experience.
How would you draft dodge though?
Log time in a level editor.
Randomly forces users to play. If they avoid the game for too long, their entire account is wiped out. It only targets users that have spent less than $300 total.
you go to college, duh
I honestly think the Vietnam war aesthetic is the only thing that appeals to me since there aren't that many modern 'nam games
Getting a flamethrower is honestly a massive powertrip
I'll be really mad if they won't fix the sound, especially from granades.
Overrated niche game
The same
Fuckin this, my friend would get a flame thrower, I'd tell him to waft it in a general location and 8 gooks would instantly get BBQd. Idk how you can even counter it.
>Game somehow looks worse, plays worse and handles worse than RO2
How did they manage to fuck it up this bad?
Not really no. At this point the only feasible reason to buy it is because it's in 'nam. Not because it's any better.
STOP TALKING ABOUT GAMES I DONT PLAY AND COME BACK TO OVERWATCH
except none of this
>tfw away from home til Thursday
I was worried that my hype would die down but I still can't wait to play it again. Bit fearful about the map count admittedly, hoping I don't get burned out in a week.
AHAHHAGAGAGAAHGAHAHAH
well its basicly like rising storm but with much more weapon variety and more classes, which all play very nicely, even grunts are fun. the two armies play different, since us has air support and vietcong not. but the traps vietcong can set up are awesome, trapwires, mines, spike matts, so much fun suprisingly its balanced very well
>Game releases 5am on the 31st
Man fuck timezones
you didnt play the beta did you user?
character customisation, more weapons, more classes, bit better graphics, sadly same engine but then again its only 20 bucks. would even buy it for 40 its really worth every penny since it has mod support
IT AINT ME, IT AINT ME
There's 10 maps at launch
helicopters instead of tanks to drive
I think the graphics are pretty noticeably better, but can't compete with AAA stuff obviously
you retreat and when they aproach the building they die by your traps which you shouldve set up
Oops I take that back, there's 8. Two of the maps can be played in different modes
I want to be a good transport pilot, anyone got any tips?
be fast
looks better than ro2 for sure
and I'm glad they got rid of the cover system
feels closer to the first red orchestra in all honesty, minus the far less weighty movement system
Song Be, An Lao, Cu Chi, Hill 937, Hue, Firebase, Compound, Jungle Camp, ?, ?
Also hoping the 64 player versions of the 16 player maps actually expand the gameplay area and not just the ticket count. Shit was a clusterfuck during beta
How long until we get the ARVN/ANZAC
Advanced flight model. Real difference is that you get you control the rotor speed rather than it defaulting to 3/4.
The big thing is learning how to visualise the landing site ahead of you and what route you should take to get there, when you should be slowing down, how your approach should be etc. This part really improved my flying once I figured it out; you can't fly helicopters well based on reactions alone. The ability to visualise what you're going to do way before you do it is an integral skill to real pilots aswell.
>got rid of the cover system
GOOD
and land fast
When approaching a LZ, rather than pitching your nose up towards the sky to slow down, roll your helo sideways and then pitch up. It's faster and causes your helo to lose altitude instead of gaining it, which is useful for landing.
i have just one wish:
when you are commander move with your radio boys to the frontline and dont sit on the radio in the base all the time, same goes for radio boys, stay with commander no matter what.
use the instant respawn when you are on the frontline and not like 2 outposts behind
im a bit sad about the cover system, why not stay with it but also add the new system. i really really liked to blindfire around a corner in the previous titles
What exactly did they do? There's a new system?
>when you are commander move with your radio boys to the frontline and dont sit on the radio in the base all the time, same goes for radio boys, stay with commander no matter what.
I actually like the way Day of Infamy handles this. Breaks immersion a little bit, but officers see icons for the location of radiomen and radiomen see icons for officers.
I feel like the new system is less of a hassle than the old, but it needs a lot of tuning. I noticed loads of shit like you peeking way above the cover itself, or not peeking above it at all because the sandbags stacked ontop of it didn't function as cover despite having collision.
Needs to be smoother, basically.
those icons are there, for the commander he can see them not only on mini map but also on 3d hud
Nigga, the old cover system was garbage
you can rest your weapon basicly on everything to get the aim/recoil bonus
you werent forced to use it
...
i always wondered whats in that white bottle, gunoil, water, piss?
Insect repellent
Ah, I didn't notice that from the gameplay I saw. All I know is DoI does it 2-way (radioman->officer is important) and makes the 3D HUD icons bright white and always visible.
Other than that, I'm not sure how you can nudge players to do radio team ups better?
Probably lubricant. For guns if you're in the army, for something else if you're in the navy.
Are there any obvious balance issues between Charlie and Seppos?
AKM >>>> M16
SOME FOLKS ARE BORN MADE TO WAVE THE FLAG
m16 is laser accurate and the AK is a little unforgiving in inexperienced hands, but it is nothing time and experience won't fix.
RPGs bring down Hueys a little too easy, with all passengers dead. A Huey flying low and slow enough should be able to have some dudes get away alive maybe. Alternatively, have Hueys be able to drop off troops from like 1-3 metres above the ground - especially since that's what started to happen during sieges like Khe Sahn
Somebody give me a good documentary about vietnam to watch while i wait for the release!!!
thats exactly how it was in ro2 though
Are there punji traps?
PBS' Battlefield Vietnam is a pretty good doc series
If you Are a good commander you Will use your mic and talk to your team
