Bump

A flaw? Probably just the things that were cut.

It was also a game where they did well with the sequels. All of them aside from ascension were better than the first one though I didn't play the handhelds, so those I can't comment on.

The combat in GoW is shit, your attacks have no impact and deal very little damage, it feels like you're hitting the enemies with feathers.

The thing I really liked about the first game (I haven't played the others yet) was the sense of being on an epic quest, reinforced by the huge scale of the environments and the great atmospheric soundtrack.

I'm picking up the third game for PS4 tomorrow. I've been waiting since 2009 to play that fucker since I chose Xbox 360 over PS3

The second one was superior to the first in most ways, I agree

I can kind of agree. But then, it would be no good if you could just kill everything in two hits

QTEs out the wazoo
WANT TO OPEN A CHEST? MASH THE BUTTON

>Standard story that serves its purpose

Trivializing a crucial part of a story-driven game and dressing it up as a pro doesn't make it an argument for your opinion.

GOW is absolutely fantastic, but would be better with a good story. As is the case with almost every other game that has ever been created, except for the obvious new ones.

I'd give GOW a 9/10.

How would you otherwise create amazing sequences like that? I personally loved those QTE's. They didn't pull me out of the experience as much as they usually do in other games.

Lol no.
Story is 100% superfluous to games.
At best it can not detract from it, but it can never actually improve it.

A 10/10 game doesnt need any story.

>Find a flaw
It's not God Hand.

A manly looking guy like him had a daughter instead of a son. Pretty much the only stain on the experience.

2 > 1

Okay, now I' m getting this fucking game.

How come there isn't a remaster of all the games out on PS4 yet?

>>Fantastic combat
Nah. This shit was the beginning of dodge-spam.

Flaw: it wasn't GoW 2

...

Imagine playing through GOW without any sort of context to what you're doing. Would you honestly find that just as enjoyable as when you have a story to go along with what is happening?

There's a reason almost every single form of entertainment has a story attached to it, so you can relate to what is happening on some level and care about it. Without the story it becomes meaningless and extremely hard to invest in.

There are exceptions though, like Journey, but that also has kind of a "story" that unfolds as you play it, and is up for interpretation by keeping it intentionally vague to keep the player invested with curiosity.

God of War is thoroughly middle of the road. The only thing it excels at is blowing off steam when you're too tired to play a real video game.

Ofcourse a story can make a game better. Look at The Last of us. Mediocre gameplay, but with a story that keep most players deeply intruiged all the way through. Gameplay is king, but games have evolved way past being nothing but gameplay, and it shouldn't be the only thing considered when judging a game as a whole.

Combat is pretty bad actually, I didn't realize until I played better games but then I could never go back o GoW.

intrigued*

>playing Nioh
>it has a square + square + triangle combo which is really effective

QTEs

Inconsistent plot due to different directors for each (1st game was made as a standalone experience and none of the foreshadowing in 2 made it into 3) and enemies become damage sponges on higher difficulties.

I guess weapon variety being toned down after 2 is also a gripe, but despite those the OT are still solid action games.

i like to play games. good gameplay is enough for me to be invested in a game

The PS3 versions of 1 and 2 cap out at 1080p/60fps so they would just be ports

You're wrong.

Why won't they port them then?

I don't wanna use their shitty streaming games thing.

I thought they were well done. They showed up at certain points in boss battles when you were pulling off some crazy moves that you either couldn't do or would have to watch as a cutscene. Otherwise they weren't that common. I don't consider tapping a button multiple times to rip out a cyclopes eye to be a QTE, same goes for opening a chest. Plenty of games have moments like that but aren't considered QTE fests

Third one is fucking great, I just started playing it because I hadn't had the chance to, I loved two, three gets me fucking hyped.

This pretty much.
Also the fact that the soundtrack is great but the official release has like a tenth of it. Wanna listen to the epic mix of Zeus' Wrath Divine that plays in the final boss battle or to the other final boss track, but without the fucking dialogue?
Well fuck you you ain't getting that.

Don't know, I don't think this question has ever been asked to a Sony representative
