Are there any other games with dynamic music?

bastion is the gold standard for vidya soundtrack usage imho famalam

The new Killer Instinct and Nier:Automata

Banjo-Kazooie

The music in Shadow of the Colossus changes as you do different things during a colossus fight.

Furi's boss themes change between phases.

And all the enemies are bosses.

>Has any game used its soundtrack as astonishingly well as Metal Gear Rising?
Silent Hill series.

>Are there any other games with dynamic music?
Tons. Every single Zelda game from Ocarina Of Time onwards has used it. I think OoT might've been the pioneer in that.

AND IT WILL COME

>I think OoT might've been the pioneer in that.
This is how you spot a nintenbro.

>best theme song
>lyrics only play during the final QTE

It's not fair.

It's probably the worst boss song in the game, even Red Sun is better.

Splinter Cell Chaos Theory.

While one may not think so, I wholeheartedly agree with you.

What other game DID have dynamic music with multiple changing layers switching ON and OFF depending on the situation back in 1998?

t. can't understand freedom

>Every single Zelda game from Ocarina Of Time onwards has used it.
The only time I can think of any Zelda game having dynamic music is those annoying instruments that pop up whenever you hit anything in Wind Waker that break the music.

I don't remember OoT having dynamic music at all.

Red sun sucks man, Hot Wind Blowing is great.
>That music when you get a counter
>HERE I AM
>DIRTY AND FACELESS

HEAT OF THE DESERT

Nier: Automata
Metal Gear Solid 3 and 4

We need more games with dynamic music.

Portal 2 had dynamic music. Gachashit but Granblue Fantasy has the song change based on the boss hp which works well in a few battles.

>I think OoT might've been the pioneer in that.
Jesus fucking christ, nintendo fans are so secluded from anything not done by their company that they don't even know about FROGGER?

NieR used it's soundtrack 3x better than your power metal cringefest.

Sorry, but it's true.

>Wind Waker
That literally the only game you played?
Ocarina and MM had the area's background music change its mood and tempo depending on if you had enemies closing in on you, getting more and more dramatic if a fight went on for a long while, then smoothly transitioning back to normal when the coast was clear. Similarly, the songs changed a little bit depending on the time of the day, starting all calm and simple during dawns, getting to full speed and build for day time, then calming down towards the evening before fading away for night.

WW kinda did this too, but with much simpler and lazier fade-ins and -outs, prolly thanks to the musics being simple audio files now.

Bravely Default

You never played old LucasArts games?

That french game noone remembers

Get out of here with your reddit words

post yfw the stains of time kick in

I've been a multiway idort for decades, and mostly played on PC since early 00s, but I have never ever played Fogger. And I don't see why should I.

what the fuck does this post even mean.

>jumps down
>his fucking hands detach and start coming towards you
>AND IT WILL COME
>LIKE A FLOOD OF PAIN

>Using "cringe" as an adjective unironically in the current year

I don't remember hyrule field changing, rather, it's a static song that will always last and sound the same because the duration of the day in hyrule field is also the duration of the song. And if you "pause" time you can hear the song looping back to how it sounds in daylight even if it's already evening and the song's about to stop.

it's not my fault if you have no self awareness, and it certainly has nothing to do with reddit.

i used the word cringy to describe MGR when i first played it years ago. you need to go outside.

Dead space used audio to great effect

even mario world had a yoshi layer

>I don't remember hyrule field changing
You clearly haven't played it much. The enemy presence alone switches gears.

that's very primitive though. Not much different from getting the Star powerup in SMB1.

I'm sorry you're completely joyless.
You probably sat inside and scoffed at the cringeworthy masses observing the eclipse outside yesterday.

the predator parts in bamham, love it when the music intensifies as you pick enemies off

>it's a static song that will always last and sound the same because the duration of the day in hyrule field is also the duration of the song

In OOT songs don't pause when you enter the pause menu, so that doesn't even begin to make sense

>Kondo: Right. I wanted to avoid players going to a dungeon and coming back to find the same song droning on. I thought about what I could do to have different music playing whenever you listened to it, and eventually I created several eight-measure “components” to play randomly.
Iwata: They shared a certain chord progression, so the music could shuffle them around.
Kondo: Right. Each group of eight measures ended with a chord that would lead nicely into whichever group started next. It sounded natural even when you played them randomly.
Iwata: How many of those “components” did you make?
Kondo: About 20. They’re in battles, too.

nuDoom

The memes, Jack

He didn't though

...

no and again, no

you tried.

>Furi's boss themes change between phases.
Other games have done this long before Furi.

LIKE A FLOOD OF PAIN

Haha no

>we will never get a Jetstream Sam spinoff
His DLC is better than the main game, I wish you could just use his moveset with his sword

just saying here man but

if you can't handle a cheesy b-movie action plot without becoming uncomfortable at how silly it is your tolerance for cringe is ridiculously low

Ew no, you can't even unlock moves and every strategy is just "taunt then do one of the charged up Y moves".

Portal 2

Dynamic music was the second biggest part of Dream Emulator, that should could get weird.

youtube.com/watch?v=QsXo41yeNng

Inferior to Drakengard 3 soundtrack in every way.

>that guy who was making a Jestream replaces Raiden mod
>he posted his progress a few times
>never posted the files anywhere, and then disappeared off the face of the earth

Armstrong in Sam managed to make him a shitty boss, especially in revengeance difficulty since he starts out in red mode after you hit him once, so 99% of the fucking time all he does is that fast fire charge (which can bug the camera at times even) that you have to dodge about 5 times each time he does it, sometimes multiple times in a row or chained right after the lunge-grab attack. It's really just annoying and not enjoyable.

*Sam's DLC

Persona 5 has the best and most fitting vidya soundtrack in the last 20 years.

Second would be Ocarina of Time, third is Gravity Rush, fourth is [any Tony Hawk game], and fifth is MGR.

The boss was already great, but when the lyrics kicked in it got me so fucking hyped.

HEAT OF THE DESERT

DUST SETTLES ON MY FACE

WITHOUT A COMPASS

THE SOLDIER KNOWS NO DISGRACE

OUT OF THE ASHES

THE EAGLE RISES STILL

FREEDOM IS CALLING

TO ALL MEN WHO BEND THEIR WILL

Then play different on a less retarded difficulty, I played through it yesterday on normal and it was just fuckin fun. I think Sam just feels better than Raider, tighter movement, I just wish he got an expanded moveset.

WE FIGHT FOR JUSTICE

IN A FORGOTTEN PLACE

FULFILL OUR DUTY

THEN VANISH WITHOUT A TRACE

DON’T NEED A MEDAL

FOR ALL THE MEN WE KILL

FREEDOM IS CALLING

TO ALL MEN WHO BEND THEIR WILL

I FINALLY FOUND WHAT IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII WAAAASSSS LOOOOOOOOOOOKING FFOOOOOOOR

>Then play different on a less retarded difficulty,
It has nothing to do with difficulty, that's just the way it plays and it sucks. They gutted out heavy hits completely in favour of that charge move which is nifty but reduces the gameplay to just using the charge moves over and over after taunting. Gimping yourself is not a valid defense.

POURING DOWN ON ME

I'm not the only one that loved Armstrong's patriotic death threats during the Excelsus fight, right?

>FEAR THE WRAITH OF THE U.S.A.!
>UNCLE SAM NEEDS YOU TO DIE!
>LET LOOSE THE FLAMES OF JUSTICE!

considering the fact that he's become a meme, no.

>20 years
Did you listen to every game soundtrack in those 20 years to be able to make that judgment?

Worst boss fight in the game, though
>attacks come really fucking slow or really fucking fast at random
>two unblockable attacks, one vertical and one horizontal
>you have to either jump or dodge to avoid them
>if you thought it was the fast version and it wasn't, fuck you
>SANDSTORM

Fuck, I would rather fight bugged Armstrong in Sam dlc

I miss stuff like this so much.
Lucasarts used to have their I-muse system in older Star Wars game which allowed the music to change in similar way, fluidly, in response to the changing situation.
Much better than later games that would just run audio track from cd.

Doom has some really good dynamic music. Amps up depending on how much you're killing and stuff like that.

tekken 7's music changes depending on if your on the final round of the match

the sims and spore
I met robi kauker once, he explained how they program the audio using some software that started with a P
it's pretty neat

Samuel is too OP, he's just a dude but took down a metal gear ray

...

He does have an HF blade that's far stronger than Raiden and an exoskeleton.

Nier Automata surpasses it in one specific moment, but only that one moment. Other than that it's just pretty regular fare, albeit with a super dope OST.

This.

But Red Sun is fucking great.

Near a tomato had some pretty decent dynamic tracks

Agree that Automata did it better but I disagree with your attitude.

get some standards

Holy edge, Batman.

WHEN THE WIND IS SLOW

Nice sword.

Why are they all so tall?

>read thread
>no "ahh"
Really now?

...

Crypt of the Necrodancer not only has an amazing soundtrack, its dynamic part is a major mechanic in the game. Since your time on every randomly generated level is limited, you want to find the shopkeeper ASAP, what helps you here is you can hear him singing in the distance, which gets louder as you approach him.
youtube.com/watch?v=_Ex7g5uKzKg&index=6&list=PLCgAiCry9o3qIFF1AUivzlGnpGC5R36Qa

This, he is very poorly designed. Took me 6 hours or so to beat him on Hard without taking damage.

YUH HOT FUH DAYS
