what's the sauce on that, really makes me think.

>he asks you whether you want to learn how to do X
>say no
>he still explains it anyway

PRESS THE STANCE BUTTON TO STAND UP

please help me anons I don't know how should I do a tutorial without telling people what to do
I'm trying to make a game that has literally zero dialogue (or monologue, or text directed at the player for that matter) to allow foreigners to to play it without translations and such

It would help to know what kind of game you're making.
But generally it's a good idea to introduce the mechanics over time by having levels that make it obvious to the player that he has to use them now.

it's just a side scroll shooter but there is a bunch of less conventional stuff like collecting energy you can either spend on power attacks or healing and I can't come up with anything that shows instead of telling

Have a scene of an enemy using an attack, then going over to pick up the energy and his attack looks more powerful.

Ive been trying to find the sauce for awhile now

Mandatory tutorials that don't let the player move on until they prove they've learned the mechanic. I don't like it, but people are stupid. Did you see how many retards on Sup Forums couldn't parry in MGR or how many morons didn't understand Ki pulsing in Nioh?

If you don't have forced mandatory annoying tutorials people will skip them then complain.

not bad but the energy comes from the enemies, like glory kill drops from nudoom, but less in your face and you can either heal yourself with it or juice up your attacks with dedicated buttons - and that's the problem - how do I teach someone to push a button to do a thing without actually telling them which button and for what reason?

>Sequel to the first game.
>Main character has just finished saving the world/galaxy
>Some scrub you just met is explaining to you how to do things

Alright, thank you you fucking nobody. I'll call you when I need you, which will be never.

symbols and pictures?

I've played MGR twice and I still don't know how to parry properly.

It makes me think of Franken Fran but don't take my word for it.

>character is dead
>still gives you tips

"Do you remember the basics of CQC?"
"The fighting style we invented together?"

See this is the kind of shit I'm talking about. The game has tutorials and even if you skip them it tells you how to parry. The manual tells you how to parry.

I just don't get it.

It's an artist by the name of "kikkujo"

I suppose... with either pluses or up arrows to show it's a boost
blue or red cross is obvious healh but is crosshair a good symbol for damage?

>You can die on the tutorial

>die on the tutorial
>Nier Automatas pc release

>Blue cross for health
Blue is armor, health is red or green

has a game ever asked the player character if he or she wants to play a game at the start, with the game within the game having the exact same mechanics as the actual game?

>"will you save the kingdom, protagonist?"
>"no"
>"oh come on, don't be that way. will you save the kingdom, protagonist?
>"no"
>"oh come on, don't be that way. will you save the kingdom, protagonist?"

What's actually the source of this image?

Artist name?

yumeno tanuki

Source ain't on exhentai

>press X to make me jump!

Franken Fran had that chapter about the girl taking pills to turn into an anime but ended up over dosing and turning into a fucking alien monster, pretty sure it isn't this

>X button? What's the X button? Oh well, I'm sure this makes sense to someone!

>Press jump to jump

>Bruce Campbell bullies you in the tutorial making snide remarks and insults

The Spiderman early 2000 games were the best

>don't worry the being that looks at us trough the dimensions will surely know what i'm talking about.

>what is start button you ask? i dunno, i'm just a little kid.

That looks alot like marui maru

>main character explains how the game works near the beginning of the game to some scrubs because he's a nice guy.

>hoho you missed that one
>TRY ANOTHER!
youtube.com/watch?v=4XXMs3FO50M

>game breaks the fourth wall

>game actually ends after saying no

>character gets gangbanged by translation teams until it's unrecognizable

okay i put the filename into panda and got nothing please help

Press square and tap the stick in a direction at the same time to parry any attacks from that direction for the duration of the parry animation.

>game "lampshades" and "deconstructs" and "subverts" "tropes"

what games did this?

Holy shit user, that's quite an eye you got there

Yeah my bad,

exhentai.org/g/1057909/66cc5abebe/?p=2

I think it's the 3rd/4th story in the collection

MGSV

>main antagonist of first game is main protagonist of second game

>the game has a zone where you can get used to the controls before you start the real game

Well OP, would you rather it be like the old days where they didn't teach how to play inside the game at all, and you had to consult the manual?

I'm convinced people don't actually know what a deconstruction is, and use it as a way to sidestep them liking shitty things. looking at you KLK

>Game tutorial starts out in media res
>You replay that part later on without any tutorial pop-ups

Not OP, but yes. I miss reading through those manuals after buying a new game.

>the final boss explains how the controls work at the beginning of the game

>exhentai.org/g/1057909/66cc5abebe/?p=2
nice

is it Alien Soldier?
Choosing your control settings while able to try them was so cool

I mean in that time you had like 3 buttons so you could easily press all of them to know what they do, but now that you have parry and dashes and mortal backflips and 25 buttons it's probably impossible to get exactly the same feeling.

I want to fuck that cinnabon.

>that doujin

>Tutorial mission grades your performance

Right. What the hell kind of name is Soap? How'd a muppet like you pass selection, eh?

source

sauce please

Man, that shit on MGSV was so unnecessary.

Christmas came early for you
exhentai.org/g/1103543/5dc1504d59/

all I see is a sad panda

That's a pretty BADASS translation!

Sauce me please.

exhentai.org/g/306178/d86efe7b71/

...

I've been playing mh since mh1. You're supposed to mash through the dialogue, not actually read it.

Does anyone know the sauce for this one?

how did you beat Monsoon?

So I'm trying to do this sadpanda thing, and after downloading the chrome extension, I go to the log in screen. After I enter my username and pass, it won't log me in. Just stays on the same page. How do I fix?

This wasn't too bad, but it isn't what I asked the source for.
consult the guide on /h/, but you're probably fucked

Piero

You don't need the extension, you have to clean your cookies first and then go to E-Hentai Forums and log in. that's it, now you can enter ExH

>A thread about tutorials
>Idiot who can't pass the sad panda and need to use extensions and others help
Is like pottery

he got me

>Tutorial has you start off powerful with all your abilities
>You lose them due to plot bullshit

Lately I heard that you need to wait some time or post on forums to access ex
It's probably pile of bullshit but still

Fuck tales of xillia for doing that bullshit. And also the shitty production. And the unfinished...well everything

Only played Tales of Zestiria. How much better is that compared to Xillia? I didn't like it very much.

Would you recommend Berseria or should I stay away?

does she fuck the cutie
also sauce

She's a slut but he reverse corrupts her to become loyal only to 1 cock
