Beat that boss you're scripted to lose to

>beat that boss you're scripted to lose to
>no reward or change in the story

So you either glitched or cheated, of course there's no reward.

Unless you meant made to lose too but with the possibility of beating it, in which case there should be a reward.

Let's see Paul Allen's dubs

There was some dragon dueling game on the sega Saturn. They carry swords and shit and it plays sorta like Pokemon.

If you cheat to beat the first fight (your level 1 vs rivals level 99) game straight crashes.

Those were the good old days.

right here, buddy.

>Game rewards you for getting dubs

Right here in my hand

>luck based event
>no dubs

This happened on spectrobes beyond the portal and I was very disappointed when it didn't do anything

In '87, Huey released THIS. Fore!

Tales of Destiny 1, beat a scripted fight early on, and that game just flat out ends. Kinda bullshit.

>franchise has a history of having a boss fight that you're expected to lose, but you can win if you git gud
>game seemingly has this trope
>boss' HP will never drop below 0 and the fight ends only when you lose

FUCK YOU TALES OF GRACES

>beat that boss you're scripted to lose to
>there IS a change in the story

>beat the boss you're scripted to lose to
>get secret ending
Beating Lavos solo with Crono and seeing the devs in game was pretty fucking neato

>beat that boss you're scripted to lose to
>boss blows up the planet

Today's the day I make gramps proud!

>beat that boss you're scripted to lose to
>what-if story unlocked

bullshit like unwinnable bosses completely turned me off of jrpgs. i remember playing fire emblem on my gameboy advance and immediately they throw you into a boss battle. the point was probably to highlight how weak you are at the start and make you feel powerful in the end as i bet thats actually an endgame boss, but good games don't actually need this tasteless "mechanic", you will know you are better by how you play. jrpgs just dont reward skill

Fuck, I don't remember this. Which fight was it?

Dragon Ball Z

Tenkaichi 2 to be exact, really liked the unlocking conditions in that game

i believe you are mixing fire emblem up with golden sun

Clearly kicking Vanitas' ass in KH:BBS, screen goes to black and a cutscene has me flying across the air into the ground and claims I lost the fight.
