Great game. Overworld was confusing to navigate though. I haven't played Advent in a very long time, but I remember the transformations having a lot less to them.

youtube.com/watch?v=hFV7XYGZFTY

>third game
never ever, just like all the other unfinished sub series.

>but I remember the transformations having a lot less to them.
A-trans are kinda lackluster after their initial gimmick/charm wears off, most of the bosses are either limited in their play-style or aren't that fun to play as so you mainly stick to the biometal forms and only use A-trans when needed. Some of them are fun, though, and they at least improved the map system.
>ZXA's secret ending hints at Master Thomas taking over with a secret plot with the other Megamen, clearly a cliffhanger that's answered in the sequel
>Sequel never comes
As if Legends 3 getting canned wasn't bad enough, but I'd care much more about getting ZX3.

At this point this is the closest you're ever getting to a ZX3.

ZX was extremely good, but the map and open world completely ruin it.

ZXA just sucks. It fixed the map stuff. The playing as defeated bosses was an amazing idea, however all of the bosses were dumb and big as hell. Literally any other Zero Zx title with this feature would have been godly.

>main char is replaced by female
>Sup Forums is not outraged because it's muh Japanese can't do no wrong"

You can pick both genders in both titles.

But the girls are even better than the boys. Though, while in ZX Aile and Vent are just gender-swaps of each other, in Advent Ashe and Grey have unique story lines and Grey is the canonical story path. And like the other user said, you get to choose who you play as.

Fun games; no the series is dead and ZXA was pretty much the extent of where the series can go. You can play as literally every boss.

>>main char is replaced by female
But you choose in both games user

Garbage games from Inti Creates. Partially responsible for Megaman's downfall, the other culprit being Inafune himself.

>was pretty much the extent of where the series can go
Except for the cliff hanger.

They can release a goddamn comic book for that. How would the gameplay evolve?

I honestly would've liked the map in ZX IF you didn't have the stupid "You must selection a mission" prompt carried over from the Zero games. If you could just freely explore and find mavericks with biometals it'd be fantastic. The level design did improve a lot in ZXA when it wasn't shitting itself with the crappy transformations which mostly broke up the gameplay too much. ZX3 would've been perfect to finally get it right which is why it'lll sadly never happen. Maybe RCL will come back too.

>Grey is canonical
Gay. Vent and Ashe are way more fun than those boring emos.

>How would the gameplay evolve?
Combination of the Models.

Zero series was better.

Also, I think the best way to play the series is

Z3,Z4,Z2,Z1

TIME'S UP.

you don't need to evolve the gameplay too much, pretty much every megaman series shows you can just add a single gimmick and make a whole game on the basis of past games.

Even just having more bosses.
Or heck, a modifier thing. like taking a lightning transformation and giving it ice traits and colorization.

>Z3,Z4,Z2,Z1
Why that order though? Going back to Z1 and Z2 after all the quality of life improvements in 3 and 4 is suicide
I replayed them for the collection
It was bad

More of the same isn't always a bad thing when you've already got something good and fun to work with. I always assumed they would make you play with another fresh pair of male/female characters instead of continuing with Ashe and Grey, so they might have had a new transformation mechanic to go along with them like Axl's copy gimmick or maybe something akin to Zero's weapon-copy arm.
A shame that we didn't get a third ZX female protagonist, Aile and Ashe are both top tier cuties.
Grey is pretty obviously meant to be the true path because of his relation to Albert and because Albert made him, meanwhile Ashe is basically just his niece or something like that and as a result feels less impactful to the story. It's been years since I've played though so my memory is a bit fuzzy.

Also, have some fanart guys

This is what should have been in the game

Z2 and Z1 are much harder games, Z3 and 4 get you used to the controls so you can truly have fun

fucking retard

>Not playing the games chronologically
Though I played Zero 1 the most as a kid so I'm most attached to it and have the easiest time with it. 3 is hard as hell for me when it comes to bosses.

Zero 1 is fucking strong casual filter, so that's what I had in mind

I never finished ZX due to the map, and because I wanted to kill all the bosses without taking damage
ZXA was better though, but some.of the transformations were lame
The playable girls were the best thing

>Blocks your game progress

...

I remember giving up on him and bouncing around on other games in the series until I sat down and beat Z3. When I beat Z4 I became an agile fuck

Rip Zero, at least he lived long enough to die a hero

youtube.com/watch?v=hrmXNugy22Q

>0:17 and on

I grinded my Z-saber and buster on the cannon towers until I got the charge attacks before taking him on, that's basically what I've always done even years later.
Top tier song, but here's the true MVP song:
youtube.com/watch?v=WFI6lPGgnBs

OUTTA THE WAY

youtube.com/watch?v=ZT5xehU9zkY

>The playable girls were the best thing
Waifus are always the best part.

youtube.com/watch?v=10kIA-kgZ-Y

Move over, let the boys play.
Yeah but that completely FUCKS your mission time and you're NOT bringing that back up without cyber elves. I still did it,but only on an emulator where I could do it without actually sitting through it

>the whole "Game of Destiny" thing in ZXA was just dumb plot stuff and not a cool gameplay mechanic
>you don't even fight the other Mega Men more than once
Kind of disappointing 2bh

but they're kids

Ah, that's true. I never cared about rankings until my most recent playthrough, where I just wanted to get the best rankings I could and see if I could keep the ranks consistent. Speaking of rankings, have a reaction image I never get to use.
>Final boss wasn't actually a big chess match between you and the other Megamen
Though not getting refights was kinda lame, since Vent/Aile step in to fight them in your place.

They are both pretty alright titles. I mostly agree with , although I'd prefer a new Legends title of ZX. That said, the lack of ZX3 is very disappointing. ZXA is the best thing to happen to Axl, I wish he did that with bosses in the X series, but I also wish there was more you could do as each boss. A step in the right direction, in terms of gameplay mechanics. The plot twist at the end was a little predictable, but nice to see regardless.

You do know you need consistent good rankings for the EX skills, right?

I could be wrong, I just replayed Z2 and I haven't had access to my computer in a while

>ZXA is the best thing to happen to Axl
But Axl wasn't in the game?

They're very cute and that's what matters. Besides, Aile is at least 18 in Advent so her older form is fair game, and I think Ashe is supposed to be 16.

>hurr what is Model A

>caring about their ages
What are you, gay?

>What were your thoughts on Megaman ZX?
MMZX was great. It captured that whole connected adventure-platformer feel that MMZ1 and somewhat MMX1 was trying to go for. The map in town was kind of shit, but outside that the rest of the game was great. One of my top recommended DS games.

>How about Advent?
Disappointing, especially in comparison. About the only good part of MMZXA is that the boss challenges are a lot more interesting and fun. Outside that, the stages were more boring and too linear, the boss transformations almost all terrible, and the story both handled itself poorly and fucked over the MMZX ending.

>Are we ever going to get ZX3?
No, never. Feel lucky if we ever even get a decent new Mega Man series. They'll never be revisiting ZX or Legends.

You can just go back to the abandoned lab area and grind on Pantheons and spiders before you do Aztec's mission. That's what I always did before I got gud

I'm aware, I just never cared/knew when I was younger, and now while replaying the games I just don't always have the will to grind out a level until I get a better ranking. The game's are tough enough, I just want to beat them as best as I can.

You mean Model A(lbert)?

Doesn't matter when Aile is pure sex.

I don't really care, but the other user seems to.
Ah, my fellow man of culture.

There's no reason why it can't be both

It's not grinding, just be quick and dont get hit. If you do get your shit pushed in by the enemies, just DON'T DIE and no damage the boss if you need to

I know that, that's why I mentioned mission time

how do I respond

see

I mean to be fair, while it is technically Model A(lbert) it's very clearly inspired by Axl. I wouldn't be surprised if Albert actually stole Model A(xl) but rebranded it as Model A(lbert) in his own image.

I just don't wanna fuck kids man. Also I like ass and tiddy

>give her a Sonic-like rolling attack
>make it so weak it actually does less damage than an uncharged bullet
What the fuck were they thinking? Same with Aile's down attack, it was so good in Zero 4 but they made it complete trash in ZXA.

Yes I mean model A, since it was fairly obviously a reference to the newly written Axl but subverted with plot shenanigans. It has his color scheme, attitude, and a similar gimmick (which is used wholesale in Command Mission). To see that used in an X or another ZX game instead of just ZXA would have been nice. Also I like that enemies got Shot death effects finally. I was always a bit disappointed to see that there were only slash death effects in other games, as cool as they were.

I disagree. Playing Zero 1 and 2 first makes the combo system of 3 so much more enjoyable, and without the weapon experience system, you have a lot more freedom in how you navigate levels.

Just ignore the fact. And if you like ass and titty, then have I got good news for you...

Is Harpuia a guy or a grill? I never knew for sure

eh

Why does Aile have to wear a bodysuit underneath her outfit. It does things to my dick.

I posted that more so just as a small joke. Older Aile does get some nice porn though, even if younger Aile gets much more art in general.
Because bodysuits are great and pure sex.

All of the boss modes sucked. They didn't even bother to code ladder climbing animations for any of them. With the exception of Vulture wall-hopping up a ladder well, every other boss form forced you to stop and transform back into a model in order to just climb up a ladder.

Harpuia is a guy. Leviathan was the only girl of the team.

Harpuia is a robot

I just checked on the wiki, yeah Harpuia is a guy

>Is Harpuia a guy or a grill? I never knew for sure

Male. Apparently he's the closest to the original X in terms of DNA. Incidentally, Harpuia's voice actor also voiced X at one point in the X series.

Actually, Hegeshock and Argoyle can climb ladders. They do all still suck, though.

Do female robots have built-in wombs? Asking for a friend.

Harpuia was always the coolest of the Guardians, but Leviathan has the advantage of being cute.
Even in ZX, Model H is one of the best models in the game for its mobility alone.

Funny, I found that Model LX was far more useful in nearly every situation due to her swing hitting above, below, and even behind her. I always took out Flammole with LX precisely because it was easy to score a hit while jumping over him with LX, while HX had trouble not striking the weak points.

Fistleo was the only annoying one, but you really want X, ZX, or a trick with FX to Level 4 him.

Fistleo is hard to get a rank 4 on, but he becomes a piece of cake when you realize you can turn on overdrive mode and kill him for a rank 4 with one well timed three-slash combo. I generally didn't find LX that fun or useful outside of water sections, probably because her attacks were limited.

Loved the first one, second was great too but for some reason I stopped playing near the end. Maybe I'll go back and actually finish it someday.

Great music as all Megaman games.
youtube.com/watch?v=i7PoS4rjEjU

I did not realize the Overdrive was that effective on Fistleo. I do know that an Overdrive hurricane will one-shot the fucker. It's my preferred way of taking him out in the final tower. Fuck you for all the frustration you've caused me trying to Lv4 you, asshole. Mostly I've just been using X/ZX's charged buster and fired so that he'd land on it, to avoid face shots.

It is a lot easier with FX, where you can map the shots along the ground and ensure that you don't hit him in the face, but that forces at least one repeat battle with him.

I think the ones in ZX do, they're like human-reploid hybrids or something, tying in the story link with Legends series.

Why did they make it so it looks like zero is always wearing underwear. They could've made it red and it wouldn't be so obvious

It's just a progression from earlier games. Humans started integrating cyborg/reploid parts and reploids started getting biological parts, so while individuals get "born" differently, they all end up similarly capable. As such, you can have "normal human" Vent and Aile hanging out with "reploid" Giro and Grey and all still doing the same things.

Well they still have reploids, but I think characters like Vent/Aile are just humans with a few cybernetic augmentations (like the white plates over their ears, whatever they may be). But they could be hybrids for all we know, I don't think they ever went in-depth about it.

May as well just play Gunvolt since they're rehashing Zero and ZX's plot elements in a new setting

Though we'll still never know how it led to Legends

I always kind of wished they'd expand more on characters in the series, since the Mega Man franchise is filled with neat folks, but ZX especially.

>bare calloused Aile hands

ZX was my first Mega Man game. The map is dumb but overall it was still a satisfying experience. ZXA got a little carried away with the transformations since many were totally worthless.
It still hurts.

Characters with the red triangles on their foreheads were the reploids. Characters without were the natural born humans.

>There was a time where I was almost tired of new Mega Man games
If only I knew how blessed I was.

Tomorrow's/later's the 30th anniversary thing for Mega Man on Capcom's TGS stream, but it'll probably just be merchandise and "go buy our legacy collections".

Yeah, Megaman games have always had some great girls in them and ZX/A especially.
I never noticed that before. Aile is a good girl with a good heart, she just wants to protect people. Also I love the coat she has.

I'm not getting my hopes up.

Meanwhile all the combat Pseudoroids get branded Mavericks and hunted down for extermination.

That image is way too lewd, please delete it. It's one of my favorites, though.

but its not FAST enough for me

Better question is, where did you find it at that fucking resolution? Reverse searching it finds shit that's half its size, and it's not like someone took it into Paint or something and just forcibly upscaled/dragged it out. It still looks flawless and I want to know where it came from.

I wish we could get a new game on the Switch. To the market, the motto of the Switch is the "Return to something old and good" and trying to move on from there. The game could be multi-plat, but I bring the Switch simply because it has set up the perfect atmosphere for Mega Man to return. The Switch is slowly becoming the home for many IPs which devs are going back to the roots of and starting over with.

I feel like Inafune probably left Capcom with a sour taste in their mouths in response to Mega Man. Capcom these days housing a bunch of shitty people who are only midly better than Konami's top staff doesn't help either. Still, a Mega Man game that will appear on Switch would probably make a lot of people happy. It may even give Capcom a lot of positive press, which I'm sure they could sorely use some of right now. It just doesn't need to play like absolute, unrunnable garbage like Mighty No. 9. Don't make the art style look as shit as MN9 either.

Something new for Classic would be a safe bet. Something not 8-bit. A new game for X I think would completely take people by surprise, and if it looks good it will generate greater hype. It may also simply be more visually impressive on home consoles, because X's art style contains more details you can amp up with good graphics and art direction.

Might have been waifu2x, that's how I upscale my low-res images. I'm not sure but I may have up-scaled that image as well, I have it in the same resolution.

I like them. I didn't love them but they were fun games that I would've liked to see continue. There were some really great tunes and ideas in this series. Seeing this thread makes me wanna replay honestly. It's been so damn long.

I want to impregnate her butt!

Why are the character designs in ZX/ZXA so goddamn terrible?

I want to play this game but I can't stand the character designs. At least MMZ1-4 has some charm to it, but here it looks so bleh.

...

As I just got a Switch I wouldn't mind this, but Capcom just flat out doesn't trust the Switch since the Wii U bombed. It's why it hasn't gotten a single one of the ports between the Legacy Collections or the Disney Afternoon games despite just about all of them originating on Nintendo systems. Instead they keep ceaselessly "testing the waters" with ports of things like Resident Evil Revelations.

What the HELL is a waifu2x?

Also unrelated to Megaman but only related by proxy of me being in a Megaman mood, I have the extremely intense urge to be a shitty artsy fart and attempt to doodle up one of my friend's characters in another game, in the same vein as Megaman Battle Network because I've been getting in on that shit after downloading 45+ GB of the entire Rockman battle network anime, as well as playing Greiga/Falzar in JP, translated with all the bonus e-reader and missing content and chips and shit added in as well.

Basically I'm on a battle network binge and I have sick needs to do things related to battle network.

I love the whole henshin hero angle and the games were pretty fun. It's a shame every Pseudoroid A-Trans was shit and the only new Model transformation is Model A, because I would say Advent is generally more enjoyable than ZX.

I would've liked to have seen ZX3 for closure, but like Legends, having it on anything but the same hardware as the originals would feel awkward to me if it was just going to cap things off.
