I'm playing Resident Evil Outbreak, I don't know why but the setting feels creepy to me.

Rs4
The evil within 1&2
The new Resident evil/biohazard
Shadows of the damned if you have ps3

Dark souls

Fatal Frame

...

I love how everything is filthy in that game. Not sure if it's the graphics or if it's intentional.

Metal Gear Survive

Try finding a new, spooky, free mod to play. Like Nightmare House 2 or Cry of Fear.

Dead Space 1 & 2

Twin Peaks and Steven King References Everywhere

Everything is so dark and run down, i always loved that "escape from a zombie outbreak" scenario but I feel games make it too actiony. Outbreak I think really captured the atmosphere of this situation really well, and the different scenarios are fun. The bar, the zoo, I really wish they'd make a file 3 now that we have voice chat and proper online it would be amazing. Or just re release those games

also boring as fuck

Silent Hill 2.

Yeah there is leaked photos of File 3 but it was scrapped. If Capcom gave the games a little more love I do believe it would have made money.

There's no inappropriate time of year to play Silent Hill.

amnesia, it's the only horror game that's got to me

Eternal Darkness, Ulyaoth affiliation.

I got the Bioshock collection on sale. First game was pretty spoopy but I wouldn't recommend getting the rest of the game unless you can get them on sale as well.

Amnesia Dark Descent is good.

RE4, SOMA, Silent Hill 1-4, Project Zero 1-3

bingo
detective shit that devolves into supernatual bum fights, extreme comfy.

...

>I don't know why but the setting feels creepy to me
>a resident evil game

nu/v/ is a confusing place

Been on Sup Forums for 11 years kid, I didn't say the game is scary they just did a good job making the environments. It feels dark, it feels like you're in a zombie outbreak.

>comfy
What the fuck
It's honestly one of the bleakest games I've ever played, everything is run down and fucked up, everything gets more fucked up the further you progress, it's always dark, it never lights up its tone and beating another human just feels so fucking brutal. So either you don't know what that word means or someone wired your brain wrong

Wrath of Malachi and Echo Night if you're tired from the classic horror games everyone has already played.

>tfw Silent Hill 1 constantly makes me feel retarded

Im even more confused now

you are talking about a resident evil game. It is very clearly supposed to be a scary/spooky/horror game. That is exactly their intention. So that is probably why you'd think that...

>it feels like you're in a zombie outbreak.
>in resident evil: outbreak

nu/v/ is a confusing place

>he doesn't feel comfy playing horror games
Nah, mang, what's wrong wi'chu?

Was going to finally play through Dead Rising 3 but the 60+ fps fix actually makes the game unplayable with a controller, so fuck it.

I heard there were at least 4 games worth of content planned for Outbreak. They weren't all that flawed even when they first released if you ask me. RE4 just completely changed the way the Capcom handled the franchise.

Right back at you
horror is literally the opposite of comfy
If you're not feeling this constant dread then something is wrong

These are good choices.
Also Miasmata if you want a comfy but eerie island adventure.

Horror games stopped being scary when I was like 12. Now horror games are more comfy than scary - unless you're a scaredy-cat. Which is fine, I miss being scared of games, sometimes.

Silent Hill 1-4.

Mount the ISOs of 2 & 3, and then run their installers like always.
The SH1 is a PS1 rip that you gotta emulate.
The "sh2proxy" fix works as a no-cd crack as well, and is included in the pack.

if you use the NEW widescreen fix mentioned in the guide, you can use sh2proxy's .exe as crack.

in case you experience issues saving the game / not being able to edit the disp.ini, make sure the files aren't set to "Read Only", and run the game as Administrator.

if SH2 gets stuck into a black screen during launch, close the application and restart it again.

you can now see fine emulator settings for SH1 in the pic. You can also try the PGXP emu for wobble free PS1 graphics.

How about games that have horror elements and aren't actually survival horror?

>Miasmata
I tried this but couldn't get past the janky controls. My character just slid everywhere like he was wearing shoes made of oil.
Is there something I'm missing or is it supposed to be like that?

It is mostly refreshing these days.

>Was going to finally play through Dead Rising 3 but the 60+ fps fix actually makes the game unplayable with a controller, so fuck it.

What? My PC is so shit it can barely run the game past 35fps on 1080p mode on Medium-high but I beat it fine.

You're supposed to mash in the direction you're falling from so you don't slide down.
The cartography, scenery variety, and monster chases make it worth it.

MediEvil 1 and 2.

If you're bored of zombies try Dino Crisis. Dinos are surprisingly spooky.

Are there no recommened settings for running Silent Hill on Mednafen, or are the default optimal? I'm currently working on starting the game myself.

Never played 4 and never knew it was on pc. Is it any good?

The game is locked to 30fps but there's a fix that Capcom provides for people who want to play the game at higher than 30fps. This "fix" works, but if you try to play the game with a controller, it completely fucks up the aiming.

Better than all of the shit that came after, and some of the original members were involved, unlike later games which only had Yamaoka, AKA the sound guy who doesn't care about the games, just the music

Really, OP should just be asking for anything spooky.

The first half is good. The second half is a shitty escort mission through every area you've already been.

Though I enjoyed it, I didn't find it particularly spooky or difficult.

it runs like shit on PC though

No?

I'm gonna try to clarify on other anons behalf. He enjoys the immersion from the game being in a hopeless desolate environment, as opposed to say the later resident evil games which are just action. This game makes you feel vulnerable and with 3 other people it's a scramble to escape asap.

What you said isn't wrong, it's just that I think maybe he's impressed Capcom actually released a game that fit the tone and mood of what it was intended for. Instead of say "resident evil :outbreak" and then it just be a run gun, no puzzles, loads of ammo etc. (Keep in mind they made that multiplayer game that sucks dick with exactly that premise)

Mednafen sucks ass, so nope.

I akways liked it, even if it aint 1-2 god-tier.

No it doesnt.
It runs on literal toasters, as it runs on the FEAR engine.

How so? Just curious

Where you saved by Cirno?

Over convoluted Android trash, that offers next to no enhancements, and has trash UI. You could do the same, with way lower system reqs, with any Software rendering emu / plugin.

Aka, NOT do this. Or perspective correction. Or use shaders.

But doesn't the inclusion in RetroArch fix the UI problem? And you don't have to change the visuals, do you? Or am I mistaken?
- emucasual

Thief Gold, of course

No.
And unfiltered 240p could be done way easier on numerous emus.

I see, thanks for filling me in

Cold Fear, its old but its a underrated gem
