I'm not retarded enough to think that what I say on this shithole will influence Nintendo's design philosophy, but I am concerned that Nintendo will look at all the praise for BotW and just copypaste it in the sequel. The game NEEDS criticism so the sequel turns out better. Hopefully Nintendo is self-critical enough themselves.

I like the 7 blades part of it and muh physical blade. Burning just has a great all around design.

Mario Oddyssey is a slap to the face and I'm not even talking about Peach turning down Mario, that shit was hilarious. I'm talking about the piss-fucking-poor post game metorite moons. Some of them are so fucking lazy they shouldn't have bothered. Very rarely did they challenge the player. Only the pipe levels/doors on Dark Side were any good, broodal rematches sucked, hint art sucks. Darker Side was shorter than 3DW's champions road and didn't make very good use of all the mechanics, plus can be skipped in major ways.
I think the sheer variety in the base game edged it over BotW at first, but post game Odyssey bar the mushroom kingdom left me with a bad taste. Zelda is still my goty and maybe gotd depending on some upcoming releases.

Isn't this a decision made by the same people that gave dragon age inquisition game of the year in 2014?

BOTW wasn't even the best game released on its own platform this year. It just barely made top 3

Breath of the Wild is an okay game.
