Which weapon are you maining? I'm tempted to go with the bow but the switch axe is also pretty cool

Which weapon are you maining? I'm tempted to go with the bow but the switch axe is also pretty cool.

Going full range support. Nothing better than paralysing a monster and allowing your hunter mates to score a tail cut. Hitting rathalos and other flying monster out of the sky is pretty fun too.

So are you using a specific weapon or are you open to all 3 ranged weapons?

Literally all the weapons feel great, I can't decide

Anyone hear anything about Charge Blade yet? It was fun in gen but ultimate discharge was complete garbage. Anyone know if its worth doing in the game?

It seems like it's mostly back to where it was in 4U. I can't understand why anyone would want to use it though. It's the special snowflake weapon.

Unless I was a colossal moron, it doesn't even eat shield charge anymore. So it's fucking legit.

On topic, I'm gonna go between HBG/CB/Lance

I've narrowed it down to LBG, Hammer, or Hunting Horn.
I can't fucking choose, it's too hard.

>special snowflake weapon
>one of the more popular weapons.

Snowflake weapon is LBG or HH

Whichever one sends my teammates flying the best.

I find its gimmick more interesting and fun than the other weapons.

Great sword because I like high damage with one hit.

It's one of the more popular weapons because it is incredibly powerful and highly versatile with no real weaknesses or distinguishing features. It's mobile, defensive, fast, and it even steals the switch axe's gimmick of changing between two weapon types, but in a way that makes far less sense than the Switch Axe's explosive discharge sword.

If you ever roleplayed with other kids when you were younger, and there was "that kid" in the group who would always claim to be invincible, that's the kind of person who would pick the charge blade.

People don't play Hunting Horn because it's a support weapon and they aren't going to playing multiplayer most of the time. They don't play LBG because the bow already has them covered if they want a faster, more agile ranged weapon. If they wanted a gun they'd go HBG.

Heavy Bowgun for maximum explosions.

That doesn't make it a bad weapon.
It's a pve game, it doesnt matter if you think its overpowered

It's not so much the fact that it is overpowered, because by all signs there are plenty of weapons just as strong in World. It's just the lack of imagination or distinguishing elements to the weapon. The switch axe makes sense and feels like a logical weapon but the charge blade does not.

Why does it need to make sense or be logical in the monster hunter universe?
I don't really see how its not imaginative but I can see what you mean if you think it's lame for not specializing or having a specific purpose

>I can't understand why anyone would want to use it though.
The same reason why anyone would want to use any weapon in MH?

Lance, as I've been maining since Freedom 1, with Bow as a secondary.
HBG was really fun in the demo though.. Might finally make a serious attempt at learning IG too, bouncing off of monsters and comboing mid-air was hilarious.

I don't mean that the weapon feels magical. I mean that from a game design perspective I can't understand why the weapon exists.

>It's a sword and shield that lets you block and move fast and the main reason to use it is to build up energy so you can turn it into another weapon even though there's already a weapon built around that mechanic and then you can do a big charged attack like the great sword but you can block and move fast most of the time so it's better than the great sword
It's That Kid: the weapon.

Well, why do we need 3 ranged weapons then? They all do the same thing. DS is really just SnS without blocking, so we don't need that either. You can chuck KO damage on GS and scrap Hammer while we're at it.
No need for lance at all, just keep GL.

nigga, pick up the switch axe and never look back, just as the gun lance, explosions are fun

How are hammers in world? They were my go-to in 3U and 4U but got nerfed so bad in Gen i had to main switch axes. any /hammerbros/ here?

>DS is really just SnS without blocking
That's a pretty huge distinction, and it also ignores meter management.
What does the charge blade have to set it apart from the other weapons? Nothing. It just takes everything from every other weapon and then in many cases does it better. It has no identity and marks the user as a shitter.

Everything is so good. I've had tons of fun with S&s, dual blades, hammer, charge blade, switch axe, and even great sword. The only ones I used in previous games were CB and dual blades. This game was made for console, I'm so glad it left the DS

Being able to cut tails, stun and break parts is really fun.
Why does that make you a shitter?

Hammers have had a major improvement, they bash everything to pieces and are more mobile than ever

>That's a pretty huge distinction, and it also ignores meter management.
I know, I was being snarky.

>What does the charge blade have to set it apart from the other weapons?
Guard points? Shield Charge? And now Sword Charge? A different moveset? KO damage on a weapon that can cut aswell? It's basically the pocket knife of MH weapons.

It's identity is a big ass sword and shield that blows things up. Why are you complaining

I don't know the numbers behind it so can't tell you if they are good or bad but the hammer felt very nice and smooth and it will be my primary

Hunting Horn Master Race.

>I heal you
>I raise your attack power
>I raise your defenses
>I raise your resistances
>I give you advantages to play at your best
>Long attack chains
>Monster crushing power

You know in your hearts that it is true.

I'll run GS and SA. Both are satisfying af if you're decent, especially GS.

First time ever playing a monster hunter game. Any tips on not being complete shit with the heavy bowgun? I was able to solo the beginner and expert mission with it, but the intermediate mission gave me a harder time and I couldn’t beat it in the time limit. I ended up switching to the hammer and liked it a lot, but the bowgun just screams like a fun time to me.

How could you fail to kill Barroth? Just shoot it until it dies. The game throws a ton of good ammo at you.

fucking this, why's everything gotta feel so good? Only one that feels kinda limp is SnS, and even that's pretty dope with on demand dive-punches.

>tfw the only one interested in IG and LBG

I've played almost exclusively with the Great Sword since I started with Tri, I don't see why I'd change my habits now.
I do want to learn how to play ranged well at some point so I'm more useful on teams, though.

>Shield weapon - Sword & Shield
>Cutting weapon - Switch Axe
>Blunt weapon - Hunting Horn
>Ranged weapon - Light Bowgun

PC hunter so I couldn't experience the beta. ;_;

Plenty of people like the insect glaive. Nobody uses light bowgun because the bow better realizes their nimble ranged attacker fantasy.

I won't play it unless it's on Switch.

Switch axe. Every game. No contest. Best weapon. filthy gaijinhunter go home.

Horn and SnS
Getting my support Blunt and Slashing on with minimal resources.

Lucky for you the game now gives you the ability to downgrade your weapons and get your materials back to you can have and use whatever whenever.

>All those dodging charge shots with Bow

They made it the most fun ranged weapon of all time. Even better than Dragon's Dogma.

I WANT TO
KISS
PEOPLE LIKE YOU!

cute user bf master race here
>i kiss you
>i give you hugs
>i play vidya with you
>i l-lewd with you
>i raise your self-esteem
>i love you
you know in your heart that it is true

I'm best with the Switch Axe and Lance, but I have more fun with the Hunting Horn, Insect Glaive, HBG, and Greatsword.

So I'll probably just build all of them and try to focus on elements that the harder monsters that that specific weapon is best against would be weak to.

My least favorite weapon is the Dual Swords so I'll probably go for that last.

I had so much fun playing with the insect glaive I forgot to use the rest of them.

Been rocking DS/DB since freedom and LS since F2 so I'll probably still roll with them(probably not going online with the LS though) and have LBG as my preferred ranged option. I did enjoy the IG and Bow in the beta so I might try learning those to shake things up

I'll be switching between the greatsword, hammer, hunting horn, Lance, gunlance and occasionally the longsword for solo use

I main every weapon except for longsword :)

i'm thinking longblade solo and either S&S or horn in group. i'm coming around to CB, though

>People don't play Hunting Horn because it's a support weapon
I fucking hate this, can't solo late G rank stuff for shit because of this stupid meme. Why the fuck does it have to do so little damage anyway? Hasn't it already been proven that a full team will do better with any other weapon instead of the HH even with buffs? I mean you can have massively overpowered shit like CB and HBG but giving HH proper damage is now suddenly beyond limits because it can raise your attack a bit? I love its moveset and gimmick but I have to be stuck using a weapon with poor damage output because the people who are in charge of balance are fucking idiots.

I'm maining uncapped 23-29FPS shit of a '''game''' Capshit made.

So far I'm liking CB, Hammer, GS and LS the most. But literally all of them feel good to use.

Is this true? Source?

pretty much the same picks as me, except the only time I really used LBG over HBG was back in 4U with the seregios one
that was fun as fuck to use though

A-user-Chan...I-I will battle monsters to keep you safe until the Gods take me!

long sword, no bully

Ok nintendie.

Don't worry buddy I agree with you completely. These people are either too stupid to see the point of the charge blade being able to do everything that other weapons must sacrifice something to specialize in (and do them better to boot) or are just upset that you're shit talking their favorite easy mode weapon.

They now have the ability to power themselves up for a slight increase in attack power and large increase in KO damage. Also lasts forever until you get hit or flinch. Because the Power charge also gives a one hit Flinch resistance.
The Big Bang attack string deals increasing damage with every hit and has higher damage output than the Spin.

I seem to always kill things faster with Gunlance. I've got the hang of CB, pulling off the ultra and still killing things slower with it don't know why so I'll just stick to GL ir SA.

Be honest with me, Sup Forums, what's the easiest, high damage weapon?

Don't bother replying to these shitflingers, they're always trying to shit up a good thread.

What is your definition of easy? A weapon that you can instantly pick up and play, or a weapon that doesn't take much skill to play and is just overpowered?

Depends on the game probably.
From what I've heard 4U is Charge Blade and Gen was reaaaaly easy with Aerial Switch Axe

Dual blades

Doesn't take skill and shits out damage

I was busy this weekend and couldn't play the demo.. anyone played with DB/Hammer/LBG that can comment on them? Are they still fun? pls help.

They were all so cool. I use to play the long sword back in the day but I'll something with more weight the switch axe or go crazy with insect glaive. Reall I don't know. I want to use all of them.

What's the patrician weapon?and why is it insect glaive?

GREATSWORD LIKE ALWAYS BOYS

Charge Blade. You have to spend some time to figure out how it works because it is mechanically complicated, but then it's easy mode. Heavy Bow Gun may also count, except it doesn't take time to figure out.

That's a weird way to spell Lance.

look at these friends

I use SA, Bow, and IG usually. I ironically use Je Suis Monte as my mount message

DB are broken powerful. Could clear entire desert and forest in the beta/demo with little problem.
Hammer now buffed to K.O. everything with so much more easy.
I hate bow guns and tried my best to play them but I can't give you a unbias opinion on them.

lance is actually fun now that you can chase monsters down at sonic speeds and give em the old pointy poke

Will they make element balanced better so LBG isn't a shit weapon like it has been forever? I'd still pick HBG all day but it would be good for variety.

What monster is that on the left? Has a digimon look to it.

He said Doesn't take skill. Charge blade takes the highest skill to play out of all the weapons. Only rivaled at best by the insect glaive.

Lance maybe. Lance seems fun.

Elemental LBG as always been retard levels of good. It's not TOP tier but it gets really good cleartimes on almost every monster consistently.

why did you even post that image you fucking retarded faggot

Tigrex.

Anyone who uses that phrase must be purged

Charge Blade

Triggered?

Is this porn?

...

I don't think you understand what skill means. The fact that you have to spend longer period of time to get everything mapped to your muscle memory doesn't make the weapon harder to play. It just means it is harder to pick up for the first time and play at low levels.

I like the sound of this, thank you user.

SA, LS, GL, and DB are the main four I always use. LBG if I feel like gunning. In games like this it's always good to have like 4-5ish mains.

I want to main dual blades, but they seem overpowered as fuck

Will this game have a larger time window or is it going to be 20min too in the full game

This. CB is a very basic, low number of inputs that must be strung together. There's difficulty in aiming the ultra and GPing. Other than that, after 30 hunts you shouldn't need to think about what you're doing. SnS, GS, Lance, and ranged weapons take way more skill than CB.

They aren't user, you're actually that good

YES YOU FUCKING FRENCHIE, YOU FAIL EVERY MOUNT YOU GET AND DON'T CONTRIBUTE SHIT TO THE TEAM

IG, SA , might pick up GL again
