Decent class system

>decent class system
>it's locked behind impossible to reverse stat locks
>not a problem by itself but you have 0 way of knowing what stat gains gives you what classes
Thank goodness online guides exist.

If you hadn't stolen the game you would've seen it in the manual

A game should be able to stand on its own without needing guides or manuals outside of it.

>A game should be able to stand on its own without needing guides or manuals outside of it.
>but give me a tutorial/guide that explains the game's mechanics to me

>Wasting memory on out-of-character tutorializing when you could just put it in the manual

In-game tutorials are trash

that isn't the way games used to work

these days games can have in-game guides and manuals, that was never seen back that when even just text was a significant cost

What game?

>beat the game without knowing about the class system as a kid
>recently started it again and there are guides for stuff like the best classes, getting multiple spirits and the golems
Was kinda amazed what secrets the game held all along.

Sword of Mana.

Everything in the game should be able to be understood within itself. I shouldn't need external sources to figure out how things work in game. That's a fair point. Some games take the hand holding too far but a understanding a class system in RPG is essential.

>pretty interesting crafting system
>makes absolutely no sense at first
>figure out how it works
>makes even less sense than before
>oh and I hope you aren't really interested in a succubus as a pet because you can't get her using the usual method
The game never explains any fucking thing, the whole card gimmick was designed with trial'n'error in mind.

>Playing DQ9
>Game has a fucking abhorrent class system that ruins the pace of the game
>Anytime I say it's bad people fucking flood out of the woodwork to defend it

I only ever played as Ninja Master because everything else seemed outright worse or tied to magic/one specific weapon.

Not that guy, but I bought this game second-hand which is the only way to buy GBA games these days.
Luckily it came with the manual, but even then it's not nearly comprehensive enough to explain the insane stat and class system.

Seems like it's op from what I've read.
>dodge dodge dodge
I'm going with a ranger bow class I think it's called wanderer.

The manual doesn't tell you either.
"As you increase the levels of the five base types, you will eventually be promoted to a higher class designation, giving your character new and better abilities. You can achieve different designations depending on how you increase the five class types. Bear in mind the differences in status levels that are affected by each of these types before you make your choice. Each class type has its strengths and weaknesses, and each class designation has its own separate list of benefits."
That does not tell you what you need for each class.

Prove it.

i can't believe i actually made a little sense of this fucking game as a kid and managed to create shit. replayed a few weeks ago and by the lords i have no idea what's going on.
>mfw playing this

wat

Is this the game where the crafting guides made by people have been "we don't know why this works but it works so just do this"

I'll agree with you, but did you ever play VII? What a fucking nightmare that shit was.

I'll never understand how people were excited for VII being rereleased on the 3DS considering the entire goddamn game was a grinding collectathon.

People with Nintendo handhelds love grinding collectathons, they keep buying Pokemon after all.

Not an argument.

Not everything in life is an argument and what he quoted is from the manual which you can. Google.

It already takes a while to figure out that your tempering material only takes full effect after you temper the equipment again (same applies for this second and any other tempering step), and then you have:

>essence levels
>stat bonuses/penalties
>status resists
>on-hit effects on specific attacks
>mystic cards with essence level requirements
>mystic cards with other mystic cards requirements
>only 3 slots for mystic cards
>everything is a crafting material when tempering, even fucking food (and some materials are only obtainable if you correctly build your world map and its elemental levels)
>a single fuck up and you will have a 4D rubik cube in your hands
All this shit to craft the ultimate weapon with special effects that will only be useful in Nightmare mode (only way to not kill shit on one hit thanks to the base material alone) if you don't end up missing/forgetting to turn said mode on when you leave your house on a new game plus.

Well, that certainly is how you craft godlike shit, figuring out a +100 steps crafting recipe on your own is insane.

>wat is a quote from the manual
Okay faggot. No source then. I win. :)

>khfanbase.txt
replacementdocs.com/download.php?view.4829

>trusting online sources

>your source talks about classes
Are you even trying? Christ.

Can't defend the class system because i know there's only like 4-5 classes which are actually useful and not shit.

I don't know so many weebs defending this game. DQ is clearly not for the west and the reason why DQ does so great is because of Japan massive nostalgia. It's like star wars,in the west, fans will buy no matter what.

Are you going to keep baiting this hard? Sending viruses to people just because you are buttblasted?

Who decided that?

>samefagging angry responses
I win and get a handful of You's. Thanks losers.

Please stop distributing dolphin porn via this website

The state of gaming now as opposed to then decided this as there's no more external game guides or manuals any more.

To this day I still don't know what the fuck I'm doing when I try to create weapons, armor, or golems.

I'm just happy the game is enjoyable on its own and you don't need to do any of that shit unless you want to min/max.

>character's level is the same as job level
Absolutely retarded.

Yeah, lemme just saunter on down to Best Buy and... oh wait. Well, lemme just grab it off Amazon and... oh, no manual.

Not that it matters, I have the game and the manual and it doesn't tell you what the class tree is.

Because you're supposed to play it and find out yourself.

You can finish the game and never get master classes. And in rare cases class 2. Great game.

If you can finish the game without those classes what's the big deal? You clearly didn't need them.

Go reread the thread until you understand the greater conservation at hand. If you can't let it die.
