Why not?

Follow up: Who cares?

I care

Because Mexicans are thieves.

I understand why so many BRs play PC now.

>Buenos Aires
OH MR. JEFFERIES, THE SHIT IT COME OUT OF MY ASS

>Why is a hobby involving purchasing multiple luxury items so expensive in literal third world countries?

Argentina has had really high inflation for the past few years iirc, everything there is expensive

Corruption and unfavourable geographical location. Want stuff sent from America through land? Well you have to go through Mexico and half a dozen corrupt countries so good luck with that. Want to ship? Sure, that'll cost you a small fortune.

in brazil they have massive tariffs on people producing outside of the country and selling within and setting up production in brazil is too costly to be worth it since a lot of the country is poor and won't buy new consoles. Tons of them still mainly play PS2.

no idea about the other countries.

Stop it.

not really, all of the vital things are pretty average, price wise
is just that anything imported costs a testicle and a half

3rd world brother
PC is where is at

PIIIIIIIIINCHES HAMBRIENTINOS NEGROS NARIZONES Y MUERTOS DE HAMBRE HAHAHAHHAHAH

Because video games are considered gambling in these countries. We have been through this countless times and you can literally look this question up yourself.

Gambling like lootboxes?

I'm Brazilian mate. Granted that I haven't been on Argentina, but I remember watching on tv that Buenos Aires prices are outrageous, even a quick google tells me that Buenos Aires is more expensive than fucking São Paulo.

Most console games here cost 200BRL, which is roughly 60USD. Steam has "discounted prices" for most of their games iirc

>adopt retarded socialist and protectionist economic policies
>wtf why is this Japanese gadget so expensive REEE FUCK CAPITALISM

I was talking about consoles, not games (in relation to tariffs), didn't make that clear sorry.

No matter how shitty things are in your country, at least you can take solace in one thing.

You are not Venezuelan.

Corruption and Taxes

if you live in the third world and you think gaming is "expensive" then you are a literal shit eater that lives in a cardboard box under a bridge

Hm? But pirating games doesn't cost money at all.

t. Brazilian

>implying there aren't countries that consider video games gambling since day one
You need to be 18 to post here you dumb fidget spinner.

I don't. Believe it or not, you're lucky gaming is expensive there. Don't fall into this hobby.

But Argentina is a white country. It doesn't deserve it.

Only Brazil consider them gambling because Brazil is retarded

Corrupt countries, retarded high tax on technology

I've been to Buenos Aires a few months ago. The prices there are pretty the same as in Brazil.

Only Huezil does. Real reason is corruption and unnecessarily high taxes for just about everything.
t. Costa Rican buyfag

Funny enough Argentina has a really right wing goverment right now.

Imports are restricted in Argentina. If you buy something from another country you have to pay a ridicolous tariff(sometimes around the same price of the product) and you have to go to an special office and wait in line for hours just for one product. There are people who has a special license to import and can override some of these hurdles. Even then, because they are few, they can charge whatever they want.

Latin Amercia is a shithole and should be nuked of the world.

I legitimately believe this and am not being funny.

South American countries that try to join globalism yet they still preserve left wing ideals are fucking retarded. It just generates corruption.

I'm Brazilian and I would be ok with that, as long as you make my death quick and painless, so please aim it diretcly above my house.

Hopefully steam games are pretty cheap here, like in the rest of SA.
Console plebs have it rough.

just nuke brazil, mexico, venezuela and the southern cone.
the rest can be saved

Taxes.

Anyway, Argentine video game market is dominated by PC and Playstation.

Buying games in Chile isn't that terribly expensive, they aren't what your average wage people can afford each month, but even low-wage families can buy one each year.
Just to name an example, I wasn't able to buy a WoW monthly sub in 2007 (the BC era), but I currently can without too much trouble (not that I would because Legion is boring as fuck).
I couldn't for shit afford a game without pirating, but I can now, they are way cheaper and people have more money. They used to cost around 90-120 dollars new, right now they are around 50-70 dollars new.
We also have a lot of flexibility in the ways we can pay now, beforehand, the only way was to have a credit card which was extremely expensive.

I think all other Latam countries have a super shitty economy right now, I just saw hordes of Argies in a mall yesterday because of Christmas and theirs are expensive as fuck. Quite sad t b h.

Who the fuck buys Xbox these days anyway?

>liking peruANOS, boliviANOS and central americans
Won't even put paraguay or uruguay there as I'm not sure if you knew they even existed

Gaming in Mexico is quite affordable thanks to based Amazon Mexico and Steam

Smart, cool, sexually active people.

kinda made me feel cozy knowing an user can afford vidya now

>videogames
>luxury

>tfw South American
>tfw idort
>bought a Switch on a trip to Straya
>use the eshop for the actual games
>occasionally import from Amazon if there's a collector's edition I want
Poorfags have it rough if they want a console, but they're cancerous retards who ruin everything they touch, so it's not that bad.

Because we try to make it as hard as possible for them to shit up the medium the way they shit up Sup Forums.

Because there's no middle class

Neogaf, go home.

>Most console games here cost 200BRL, which is roughly 60USD

yeah, because the brazilian purchasing power is really equal to someone who lives in the states, that doing a simple currency conversion is enough right?

People are retards that will buy it anyways. A Switch is like US$300 right? In Chile a Switch, with no games, is around US$450, this inflation doesn't make rational sense aside from "people are still buying even when we up the prices, so why stop?".

North America is a shithole and should be nuked of the world.

i legitimately believe this and im not being funny

Down here gaming is not something you do, only a small amount of people do it, and are social rejects, and are not public about it. Profesional gaming is the kind of stuff we see hear about and ask "what the fuck is going on in the world people do this".
Except FIFA because futbol is life.

>tfw no novia

i dont see why you would be sad, its a relly common thing to do in argentina to travel to get shit cheaper

>Down here gaming is not something you do, only a small amount of people do it, and are social rejects, and are not public about it
do you live in cuba or something like that? in argentina almost everyone knows and plays videogames in one form or another

Can confirm. Had to import a fucking 30 dollar Casio watch (because the price it was being sold here was fucking 85 dollars), and by the end I ended up paying 15 extra moneys

thats in the same level of dumb as traveling abroad to get a cheaper education
who does that?

You gotta be fucking retarded.
Prices in Argentina (aside from Uruguay) are the most expensive in all of Latin America.
Not to mention cars being double the price compared to the US, price of fuel being double that of the US, medicine costing first world prices (even when produced locally) and sky high taxes.

>veryone knows and plays videogames in one form or another
La Teja, Montevideo, Uruguay, get me the fuck out.

i dont see why its dumb, you have the opportunity to get shit cheaper(even factoring the travel costs) for only a small amount of work, why wouldnt you do it?

Because we live in a shithole with no future.

It's pretty insane but at the end up save so much money on things like electronics that it's worth it

No distribution hubs, so they rely solely on imports.

Im okay with that but make it quick and painless, a nuke would be fine.
Now, theres tons of other places that beed that too, most of the middle east, China, all of Africa and a good part of the US and Canada.

>set 3ds to south america during first setup
>the eshop only has 3 games, at 60uds each and you cant download them

>it's another episode of consoleshitters getting fucked by taxes

They don't contribute to the games industry. Seriously what is Latin America's best games? Do they even have game developers there?

wikipedia lists AM2R as an argentinian developed game en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AM2R#Development_and_release

They can't even make an original property. Embarrassing.

what did south america do to you user? where does it hurt?

yeah, now. after how many fucking years

Because it destroys your local business and makes your economy even shittier as a whole?
You are contributing to OUR country, not yours.

if you are not from latin america please refrain from shitting your """opinion""" on this thread, thank you

this

Even then, 200 BRL is roughly 20% of the minimum wage, while 60 USD is like 2.5% of the minimum wage in some american states.

I'm Latin American and wish I wasn't.

how can it destroy our "local business" if we go to chile to buy imported shit because ps4s are 600usd

Actually this is a myth born out of confusion, video games aren't classified as gambling, they are "neighbours" with gambling machines in the classification though so people misinterpreted as they being classified as gambling.
The reason they are so expensive was already stated, government imposes sky high tariffs to force companies to produce consoles locally, they just forgot that since the country is poor and have a poor infrastructure it's still more profitable to just import it

>that feeling when you are the "relative who lives in the US" and can hook up your family back home with afordable gaming
It is trully a wonderfull feeling
and I'm with a working visa, before you sperg out

How come Nintendo only cares for Mexico?

>Random Nintendo events at shopping malls with playable titles
>Pikachu Lucha Libre
>Mexican Mario
>Official Club Nintendo magazine
>Only latam country with access to the e-shop

Also Sony and MS has strong presence in Mexico as well

Is Mexico the only relevant country in Latin America?

Being neighbours with the US is a huge help

its a really limited right wing goverment after 30 or 40 years of nonstop left wing protectionism, it cant even do small reforms that dont change much without all the shit eating left wing organizations wanting to burn congress

how long until things get better? so far they just gave me bigger taxes on everything.

Colombianon here. Videogame is expensive as fuck here the Switch costs around 440-540 USD with NO GAMES or one if you are lucky. Games cost around 80 USD.

Mexico is part of North America

>11th biggest economy in the world
gee I wonder why...

>neogaf
>being racist

Ummmm chantards???

...

>Work as a doctor
>Get the equivalent of $1000 USD per month of work
>Switch is around 350USD
>New games are around 60-65 USD
>Buy about 2-3 games a month, already going to get my 30th game

Im also planning on getting a PS4, thanks to online buying i've saved quite a lot of money.

so THAT'S why the credits were filled with spanish names

I've always been curious as to how gaming is so popular in Brazil, when it is a fairly poor country with very high import taxes.

That's outdated family

Mexico generates more revenue than Huezil

Why is gaming so expensive in North Korea?

Brazil also has like double the population in Mexico.

...

Brazil has like a very big "middle class" in the cities and lot's of rich people as well. Cost of living is rather low, since food is extremely cheap.

We're much better than we were earlier this year.

if i buy a switch from the US can i use this thing to charge it?

Because life is bad.
