So now that it's been out for a while... is buying S8 worth it if you own an S7?
I love the look, I always wanted a phone that was all screen. But is it worth it? what are some improvements that you'll actually notice?
Also, is the fingerprint location a problem? I like to unlock the phone while it's on a table to quickly look at messages/price of bitcoin/whatever, but since the the fingerprint is on the back, you would need to hold the fucking phone which is annoying, also you can potentially put the finger on top of the camera and fuck the lens up.
How's the battery life? It improves it?
Performance wise, is it noticeable at all? The S7 hardware is so powerful that I don't see a single app that isn't some meme videogame struggling with it. Browsing is smooth. I don't see how this phone will ever struggle to not deliver smooth internet browsing performance.
I just can't think of enough objective reasons to buy it. And the fingerprint positioning is a big red flag (then again is what makes the big screen slick look possible...)
I dont want to use the pattern in 2017 and the eye scanner sounds like a meme (probably requires you to move your head and look at the front camera lens which is stupid). I see no replacement for the front fingertip sensor.
>Is it worthwhile to upgrade an $800 device to something almost identical every single year? Of course it is goyim
Blake Parker
>fingerprint magnet >still some UI lag >subpar talk quality >tons of samshit bloatware >dedicated furby button
Connor Morgan
M8 even tho I just bought an S8 Plus myself (previous phone was a Note 4), I wouldn't suggest upgrading from an S7. My Note was faulty and only worked on some obscure rom duo to mainboard issues and that was giving me lots of trouble. Bluetooth and headphone jack issues also made the choice of upgrading easier.
However, If I wouldn't have these troubles, I surely wouldn't have felt the need to upgrade. Considering The S7 is still such a solid device, that S8 look is really gotta be worth them 700 bucks to you.

The screen is nice. Minor improvements in performance and the battery life definitely hasn't gotten better. Fingerprint reader sucks especially if you're a manlet/handlet. tl;dr it's never worth it to buy a new phone as long as your old one works. if you really want to be the nigger with the latest phones and don't regret wasting money - go for it.

>touchwizz
Brody Young
There is no such thing as touchjizz anymore, m8. Samsung abandoned that shit with the s7 and the s8 got an even newer UI called grace ux or some shit. Point is, it's really not that bad anymore and I came from stock before that.
Parker Lewis
Battery is utter shit. Used it for 30 mins. Just checking the phone out and light browsing. Battery went off 20% in 30 mins. I can answer any other questions if you want
Brandon Wood
So they fucked up with the fingerprint sensor on the back? wew
Nathaniel Morales
Have you actually turned off any of that shit that runs in the background? I've disabled most samshit and carrier shit and my standby time improved drastically. Speaking about the S8 plus tho.

Is it worth it over the p10 plus?
Gabriel Sullivan
yes and by default renders it at 2220x1080 (for apps) and 1920x1080 (for games; with black bars)

I bought an S8, and I wouldn't have upgraded if I had the S7. They're pretty identical from what I've heard.
Sebastian Murphy
Only thing I like over my s7 is the no S A M S U N G logo
not enough to upgrade
Parker Brown
the s8 is a lot more manlet friendly than the s7e. it's a good bit thinner in width. with the s7e, my knuckles dont bend around the edge with s8, and s8+ (same width just taller) you can comfortably grip the phone all the way around.
battery life is worse though since a smaller battery than s7e.

If you upgrade smartphone every year then you're planet-destroying scum who should utterly re-evaluate how much damage you do to the world and try to avoid making such destructive, throw-away culture decisions/behaviours or if you simply can't change then kill yourself to mitigate the damage which you do to our planets for the future.

WHY ARE YOU EVEN ASKING THIS?
Unless your phone is so slow it's unusable and the battery life doesn't last a day there is no reason to buy a new phone.
I am using a mid-range phone from 2 years ago and it runs fine and people want to already switch from last years flagships?
Josiah Ramirez
That's not much better, senpai. It's literally on the level of Apple users and the green bubble meme.
Leo Hughes
Not worth upgrading if you're only one generation behind. Unless you've got a character plan that will let you
I'm surprised how polarized you guys are about phones.
>just bought S8
I haven't had any issues yet. No lag. The fingerprint scanner is easy to get used to. Muscle memory takes over and you can easily avoid the camera lens.
I can see the battery becoming an issue. Mine dropped %40 from only two hours of soft usage. What makes it even worse is that my last phone was the droid turbo, and as you know that phone would not die.
