It's alright.

I don't know, user. Maybe Home version is actually shitty, but I love my Pro/Insider. I've shilled out my money for it after using it for over a year of "Activate your Windows, pls"

>not using KMSpico or Daz-loader
>calling 'insider' a good update

are you joking please

Dell laptop,

Just upgrade to win 10 creator,

graphic driver broke.
desktop icon auto-arrange broke, everytime i press F5 icon jump around like frogs.
muh windows defender security center warning about smartscreen filter that can't be turned off.

everything become slower and stutter

Why is it so sh!t? Just rollback to windows 8.1 and everything is much better now.

works fine on my machine (つ౪)つ━゚.*・。゚

>more botnet
>more pajeet
>Microsoft fired all the testers
>more ads
>more tracking
>Something happened
>active hours
>Windows Update is even more shit if that is possible

i don't know what you guys are doing but
>win10pro
>x220
>smooth
>no ads

works fine for me except for the annoying bloat, that's why I'm now on 2016 LTSB. so clean.

>no calling "Insider" a good update
Let's see. My machine boots from hibernation to completely resuming the work in less than 20 seconds, including the time required to log in via fingerprint scan. Booting from the regular shut-down is even faster.
WSL has more goodness implemented and currently allows me to participate in the development of our current Ruby on Rails project with zero changes to the working copy despite other team members using Macs. Not to mention, I had way less problems setting the environment up and I still get a much faster-performing machine.
And despite being "unstable" it's yet to break on me - I'm using it for over 2 months atm.

I see zero reasons not to call Insider a good update.

>fingerprint scan
how do you manage the paranoia?

>how do you manage the paranoia?
It's a function my laptop has. Gotta use the function.

When it doesn't stutter, it's much faster than typing in the password. Gotta have a password, as I use it as both my personal and working PC.

more than 30 kinds of telemetry. They even collect the brand of your printer and joystick

>Basic
>Still has a long list of (((diagnostic))) data
technet.microsoft.com/en-us/itpro/windows/configure/windows-diagnostic-data

>What went so fucking wrong?
It doesn't have to be terrible. I just saw a guide posted yesterday. lainchan.jp/tech/res/28.html#50

>Why is it so sh!t?
>sh!t

Jesus Christ. Where do you people come from?

It's still NT

Nigga, I'm using Insider. It has "Full" telemetry by default - otherwise, there's no point in Microsoft even having people to run it.
Do I look like I have a problem with telemetry? I've been working for Russian mobile and Internet service provider. I believe I know a tad bit more about "telemetry" than you do.

they asked for money, again. everyone will bitch every time a new windows comes out, unless they release it for free.

Honestly I think it's because Bill Gates stepped down. Think about it: the last thing he had anything to do with was Vista. 7 was more or less Vista 2 Electric Boogaloo. Everything since 7 has been fucked in some way or another.

And on that topic, while I'm not his biggest fan, I think we all can see that Apple has gone downhill since Steve Jobs died. Face it: we need visionaries.

>Face it: we need visionaries.
It's not even that. What we need, is to abandon this nonsense of "converging" desktop and mobile operating systems. It's fucking retarded. Mobile devices are an entirely different experience due to the nature of the hardware involved. They lack processing power as well. We get a half-assed product as a result. The user gains nothing, the developers win by covering two products at the same time. It's lazy, and disgusting. Also, don't even get me started on this bullshit of collecting user data under the guise of "improving the user experience".

...

the obsession with iphones in the corporate world is ridiculous, it results in shit like that "internet of things" juicer

Yeah. How many years have desktop computers been commonly available? Why is it that we didn't have all of these retarded "Thingz" being controlled from desktop computers? I'll tell you why. In the heyday of PC's, the tech world wasn't flooded with mongoloids. People were responsible and practical. These days, we have people throwing money at doing insecure things on insecure as fuck devices, that have zero business being attached to the internet. Somehow this is being memed as progress, though. I've lost all hope for humanity.

The OS itself is great. For real, Windows 10 is the Windows it should've been. BUT: the telemetry. Mircosoft went fucking nuts with telemetry.

Why does Microsoft think Win 10 would be more secure when earlier versions of Windows would run as secure as 10 when they HADN'T telemetry?

>Windows would run as secure as 10
I ain't saying telemetry has anything to do with it, as I have no idea even if it does, but previous versions of Windows were full of critical vulnerabilities and were nowhere as safe as Win10. I guess, Win7 with all of the updates might be as safe as 10, but prior to that, they were vulnerable.
Like, nowadays almost the only way to get your PC infected is to launch a virus yourself and give it permissions to run. If an actual vulnerability is found, it's made known and patched away almost immediately.
On 98. XP and early 7, you could've easily gotten your PC infected by plugging in a USB, reading a CD, opening a web page or fucking connecting to a local network. For current Win10 you don't even need a dedicated antivirus. And the integrated firewall actually works.

>tfw autorun
>tfw walking around with a modified usb stick and infecting public computers by simply plugging it in for a few seconds

Sorry, I should've said > Win 7. I am using 8.1 without a goddamn antivirus because antivirus is only for people which don't use their brain.

PC was acting slow, so decided to give it a refresh/restart/whatever it's called.
shit took fucking ages and uninstalled my apps, but threw bloatware in my start menu.
Fucker even tried installing the facebook app. To what end I have no idea.
Instead of deleting my old shit, it threw them into an old windows version folder for god knows what reason. So yea, I;m pissed as fuck. Gonna format the hdd and clean install that shit from a dvd drive, because fuck microsoft for their own reset tool not working as advertised.

>it did exactly what it's supposed to but that's not what i expected so i'm mad

This. Every person after Bill Gates has been such a massive disappointment.

I extremely miss 1990s Cutthroat CEO Bill Gates.

He had ambition and a lot of it.

Now, Microsoft lacks fucking balls.

like everything else, normies

Windows defender is pretty good, though.

No popups and pretty light.

I don't think antivirus companies will have a stable future.

Its not about your security, its about Microsoft's financial security.
The writing is on the wall that Microsoft's old business model of selling Windows and Office to OEMs isn't going to work much longer.
Free operating systems are too capable and there aren't really any killer features now that Microsoft could introduce that would make it worth it to OEMs to pay a premium.
Microsoft needs to make money off of Windows at $0, and that means they need telemetry, advertising, and people buying their software from the Windows Store.

Nothing, it's fine

It's not great. It's a buggy piece of shit, and sometimes I wonder if it's not intentionally so.

>and people renting their software from the Windows Store.
Fixed.

It asked me multiple times if I'm fine with it deleting them. After that I think I am entitled to be slightly annoyed that it decides to keep them.

>Free operating systems are too capable
Such as? Android? Puh-lease!
OSX isn't free either, you just don't pay for it since it's subsidized by the hardware sales plus that's all you're gonna use it on anyway.
Linux? Let's not even go there. Although from what I hear, Linux is going to tackle the desktop and laptop market _THIS YEAR FOR SURE_ .. right...

Unless you select the option that you're giving the pc away you will be given a chance to revert to your previous installation.
The windows.old folder is automatically deleted after a month. Windows will also offer to delete it if you're running low on space.

>ads
>More ads coming soon
>forcing the free upgrade
>worse performance on older hardware
>UWP
>Privacy, or more like the lack of it

works on my machine desu

Apathy.

been using it since it came out, gave it 3 refreshes and a reinstall since. Had to manually delete windows.old twice, figured I won't take chances - especially since I backed up everything already so there is literally no reason to keep that around.
And there was no option that I was giving the PC away, which is kinda weird, but whatever.
Anyhow, it works, just waiting to pull down my files from the cloud and I'll be all set.

I only use it, because there is some software for university, wich does not run on linux (ArcGis).

You do realize Microsoft phones home PNG screenshots of your desktop every few seconds right? You're sharing your porn with some pajeet

what's the deal?

The attitude and culture of the company who made the product. Think of it like vampiric corruption in Warhammer.

And it uses state of the art compression that makes it possible to store two such screenshots in only 6KB.

Micro$oft. The pajeet in charge finally realized that M$'s customers are governments and some large companies, not end users. To maximize profit, he exploited that fact, making wangblows 10 the most user-hostile operating system ever made in the history of computeres.

I remember if you go back and watch Steve Jobs stuff he is really passionate about the product. If you look at him explaining the iPad and iPhone in reveal you can see he cares a lot about it. He really thinks this is a good thing. He had an idea of how we would use our products. Like the iPad could sit in the living room and the family could pick it up and do stuff on it.

When I see Tim Cook reveal his Apple Watch it's just like. Look we have another product. See, we're still innovative guys! Steve Jobs hated charging shit apparantly so I doubt he would remove the headphone jack for wireless or release the Apple Watch at all. There's no sense of how it fits into our lives.

The iPhone 8 reveal spent so much time just on the black color. They advertise it like a fashion product now. I never remember that shit with Jobs either, but maybe I'm just not remembering..

>Such as?
The business model of selling operating system software is not going to survive the advent of mainstream sub $100 computers, and there's no really compelling reason why the majority of users need to spend more.

>Android? Puh-lease!
>Linux?
Deny it all you want, Android/Linux is now on the majority of computing devices in the world and desktop and mobile Linux based operating systems continue to move closer together. ChromeOS running Android applications on laptop hardware thanks in part to Wayland and Mesa is a glimpse of the future, as is the proliferation of cheap single board ARM computers.

Unless Microsoft manages to figure out how to make money off of a $0 version of Windows without losing their user base and OEMs in the process their power over OEMs and as an extension over the average desktop user will not survive.

Microsoft hasn't made money on windows for a long time. They make a shitload of money for governments and some large companies (such as macy's and adobe).
Overall, their current strategy is cloud-first, ai-first as a business (which really means, put everything in the cloud and hope people are dumb enough to fall for it and slap a program with the word AI in the title even though it's literally just a bunch of regex because AI is too haaaaard). As such, they believe that mobile as an end-user platform is a significantly higher-priority target than other devices.

being free

It is literally spyware, adware, and a botnet that you have to pay for.

>Microsoft hasn't made money on Windows
>Literally every non-apple Laptop or prebuilt system comes with a Windows licence which isn't free
>Being this retardedly brainwashed by anti-microsoft Sup Forums
>Literally every new computer purchased that isn't from apple nets them $200 more or less pure profit.
>One of the most profitable companies in the world isn't making money from their main product
You can't make this shit up. This is what Linux Neckbeards actually believe.

>I don't think antivirus companies will have a stable future.
They really won't.
Remember what happened to paid firewalls after windows starting including a firewall for free?

I cold boot my thinkpad from off into windows 7 in 14 seconds using a fingerprint reader

The same shit that google maps did to GPS companies.

...

We're talking about Windows 10, not Android.

Huge company where decisions are made by higher-ups that don't understand changing technology

Still think it's a good idea to force your users to restart their computer every five minutes every time you install updates, install some program, or change a fucking setting

Got rid of white computer scientists who understood the source code and replaced them with pajeet code monkeys who have no idea what they're working with

tried to use the exact same windows 8.1 operating system base but just copy-pasted a million .dlls on top of it to make a "new" convoluted mess of an operating system

Microsoft will be dethroned before most of you even have kids

So am I.

I'm totally talking out of my ass but I thought most OEM sales netted them around $30?

They really are pursuing cloud first and the client / server side of things won't be the focus.

>Microsoft will be dethroned before most of you even have kids

Boiling frogs
People are apathetic. People like video games
Microsoft is going to just keep getting bigger

arstechnica.com/information-technology/2017/01/microsofts-second-quarter-shows-a-surprise-uptick-in-windows-revenue/

>Microsoft hasn't made money on Windows for a long time

>Windows 10 is now active on more than 400 million devices around the world and over 197 billion hours of usage. This is the fastest adoption rate of any prior Windows release.

>$30 for an oem licence
Kek no, literal computer stores sell Windows OEM editions for system builders and they're all around $150-200. Unless you're literally selling millions of copies you'd never get that low a price from them.

Nope, even normies hate Windows 10

My money is on Google replacing them

>normies hat Windows 10

see

I am a microsoft employee. You are a neet. Do the math.
$0 times 400m sure is a lot of money. Guess I am BTFO now.
Nu/g/ really is a strange place.

>This is the fastest adoption rate of any prior Windows release.

They don't tell you how that is largely due to them tricking people into installing it after people declined it, even for free, or how many people later uninstalled it.

Google is an Ad company, not a software company. It's literally worse than Microsoft in terms of consumer outcomes. Their OS is literally designed to mine data to sell to their customers.

>Microsoft Employee
Microsoft is a publicly traded company which releases financial reports to the public. What you think you 'know' is available to the public.

>They gave it away for free for 1 year!
You do know that it's been over a year since Microsoft has given away the 'free' upgrades shit right?
You do know that every single new computer is netting them about $100 pure profit in licensing fees right?

>Aww they tricked people!
Yeah and Google tricks people into thinking their services are free while they datamine the shit out of you and sell it to Ad companies.

And? Google being cunts doesn't make it okay fr M$ to be cunts too.

You tell me.

Yes, it's called competition. If you don't like it don't use Google or Microsoft software.
Buy Apple and get jewed by them instead.
>Bawwwwww companies exist to exploit their customers!

>What you think you 'know'
Pretty sure microsoft's business strategy is public knowledge. The execution is not. Keep backpedaling while striking at those mean strawmen of yours though. I'm sure you'll hit something solid one of these days.
>You do know that every single new computer is netting them about $100 pure profit in licensing fees right?
My sides.
>You do know that it's been over a year since Microsoft has given away the 'free' upgrades shit right?
My fucking sides.

We recently switched from Windows 7 to Windows 10 (LTSB) at work.
People complain about it constantly.

Or I could just Linux or an older version of WIndows.

ThisIs what I mean by normies hate it. Not business execs or managers paying for the software, just normal people who actually have to work with it.

>literal computer stores sell Windows OEM editions for system builders and they're all around $150-200

Dell is not buying Windows for the same price as some random joe buying it from the store.

>backpedalling while striking at those mean strawmen
You keep up those personal attacks. Lying to the public about financial data is an indictable offense.

>Microsoft's business strategy is public knowledge
No it isn't, The only thing that's public knowledge is their financial data. Their strategy is 'released' to the public and shareholders. They can switch that anytime without notifying anyone.

>Or I could just Linux or an older version of Windows
Yeah, you're really the market they're interested in m8. You and 0.001% of the market that actually buys software.

>Complain
Yeah, like they have an alternative. People complain about everything. They'll literally complain about free shit if you give it to them.
Just look at every camwhore thread on Sup Forums.

>Dell is not buying windows for the same price
Yeah but you aren't dell are you?
There might be a bulk discount, but literally nowhere near the $30 per license you are suggesting.

Your tears are delicious. What's more, you have impressive imagination. What reality will you imagine next? What strawman will you build? What lack of argument will you have? I just can't wait for your next post.

When my office updated from XP to 7 people complained constantly too, they do for any change.

>Tears are delicious
>Microsoft is dying
>Post evidence that you're just a fucking anti-shill and their financial data says otherwise
>B...b....b..but I work for Microsoft! I clean their offices!

Eat shit pajeet.

It's possible user, and you know it.

Actually I looked and was pretty close.

>Microsoft has released licensing rates for OEM Windows 8, including US$60-80 for Windows 8, US$80-100 for Windows 8 Pro (with Office) and US$50-65 for Windows RT (with Office), according to Taiwan-based notebook supply chain makers.

I see that you are a deeply troubled individual, having to disassociate with reality so hard and yet claim your imagination is evidence of anything. It's OK, though, no matter how pathetic you are, your tears are still just as delicious as anyone else's!.

>Kek no, literal computer stores sell Windows OEM editions for system builders and they're all around $150-200. Unless you're literally selling millions of copies you'd never get that low a price from them.

ive bought windows licenses wholesale at $89.99 from microsoft. and it was for only 200 licenses. if youre a huge company youre going to pay a shit ton less.

They aren't complaining about change, they're complaining about dysfunction.

The biggest complaints I here are:
Outlook and Office go unresponsive constantly, and outright crash several times a day.
Windows will randomly spike in resource usage to the extent it prevents users from doing anything else (network, disk, and memory at 100%).
It takes longer to log in, start up, and log out.

>windows 8
Outdated numbers, that was a decade ago. easily $100-120 now with inflation.
>Notebook supply chain makers

>$90 for 200 licenses
Even if you did, it's never ever going to $30 like the retard suggested.
And even then you'd literally have to buy hundreds of thousands if not millions of licenses.

>The biggest complaints I GET here are

I accidentally a word.

Nah they're complaining about change.
90% of the computer using public can't take it when you rearrange the icons on their desktop.

More ad hominem posting without any proof your your assertions

Thanks Pajeet. Now go clean the Microsoft toilets of the poo that they can't put into the loo.

Here's a screenshot for you. It's a fresh install. Try cramming it down to 6KB. I even made it easier by covering half the screen with Explorer.
There's 17849 unique colors in this screenshot. Good luck.

>Even if you did, it's never ever going to $30 like the retard suggested.
>And even then you'd literally have to buy hundreds of thousands if not millions of licenses.

companies like asus, acer, hp, dell, alienware etc etc put windows on their machines and pay pennies on the dollar because they buy their licenses wholesale. Youre crazy if you think they would pay retail.

>Outlook and Office go unresponsive constantly, and outright crash several times a day.
>Windows will randomly spike in resource usage to the extent it prevents users from doing anything else (network, disk, and memory at 100%).
>It takes longer to log in, start up, and log out.

This sounds like more like modern Windows on old hardware. Did the hardware get updated as well and include SSDs?
We've found the Windows experience to be pretty shit without it installed to an SSD, whether that be Windows 7 (patched) or newer.

You are both retarded.

In our office, skype video/audio freeze, audio randomly muted (but restart the program and it magically works, so it's not settings or hardware), skype full crash, teams crash/full crash and constant restarts. Edge constantly crashes with more than 10 pdfs open. Also coming back to work to a freshly restarted windows so you get to reopen everything again thanks to forced updates. Finally, at least when connected to displayport, computer going to sleep means the window layout gets beyond fucked, with some cases (like edge) where the actual program's inner layout breaks and makes the program unusable until restarted. Oh, and severe dpi scaling issues in multi-monitor setups fucking up several programs to the point of unusability.

>pay pennies on the dollar
There's a wholesale discount, but lets not pretend it's 1/10 of the retail price m8.
