Never had this issue

Let me guess, creator's update? Yeah, we know. It's shit. Just revert.

/thread

Win10 has, without a doubt, the worst desktop OS UX I've ever had the misfortune of experiencing.

Fuck you it's good

But it's pajeet approved.

>"Reset to the Microsoft recommended defaults" is selected

Nice b8 m8

Hey, this happens to me too, although it's stuck on Chrome.

I am pretty sure that this is a bug in their "Hey check out Edge" prompt. If you choose edge once and try to change it, it'll work.

That's not how it works.

it's weird, OP, i don't have this problem

If you select edge first and then change it, it works. And remains alright until your next recovery I think.

Why don't you have icons next to your System categories and why is Default aaps right at the bottom instead of near the top?

Get an old discount windows server license

Windows 7 or server version is better is literally a placebo.

fully disabling telemetry while keeping update using WSUS on windows server is not a placebo

Why is anyone using Vindaloos 10 over Win7? What advantage is there? I cannot think of any. It it video game shit?

Wait, so those were your issues with Win10? Ok, yeah it's not a placebo then, but you know updates and basic telemetry does not really matter for anything but Servers and Enterprise systems.

It works for me. I'm also running the latest. Hope you're feet up somewhere eternally sleeping. I was using the creator's update but now using enterprise N LTSB, also know as the actual successor to 7.

>telemetry doesnt matter
fuck off

Not everyone's version works like yours. Face it and admit you're desperate at this point.

Oh my god! Stranger on the internet caught my lies!

Try it first though, it just works the way I described.

Basic level is seriously not about advertising. They are of course following the footsteps of Google and they have an even larger userbase but basic telemetry is not it and it does not matter for most users

you have no idea what they're collecting and it's done on the kernel level.

But why would you ever use another browser goy? Many Pajeets were imported to America to write Edge. Be a good goy and use Microsoft EdgeBot...I I mean...Edge.

>good goy

And you have no idea either, I don't like being left in the dark but do you think a big company like Microsoft would risk bad publicity for additional 10 users' data? And let's admit it, we are 10 users compared to others who don't care a bit about privacy and use "express" settings.

So in this context does it make sense for them to do it? No, it doesn't. Are there any backdoors? Probably, but it's not like Windows 7, 10 server, 10 enterprise doesn't have them.

I've had this bug too, glad someone recorded it.
Good luck fixing it, there's no documentation

Bill Gates is a good man. And yet you complaining about the bug? The duh fuck...????? Help me get to understanding this shit man.

dont be so fucking naive thinking they cant/wont use it or accidentally leak it somehow

What is the benefit of knowing what kind of furry porn 10 people are watching? We are literally useless, as even if we were to be included in their advertisement algorithm we would be discarded as outliers.

Yes they will use information and will leak it eventually but I honestly don't think they would do it with the basic telemetry. There are millions who use express settings already. The purpose of basic telemetry seems genuine to me. In the future they're just going to remove the option, they wouldn't want to get in trouble now and changing things instantly would be bad for public relations.

This is probably edited/rare bug. My default is Opera. Just verified.

>being this fucking naive
jesus christ just look at history you dense tard.

>do you think a big company like Microsoft would risk bad publicity
holy shit I hope this is trolling

I'm not saying that they aren't going in the direction we all fear. I'm pointing out that they also know the history and they also know that if they do something they don't disclose it'll get publicized eventually. Why bother with that when you can slowly convert everyone into full "telemetry" and remove the basic telemetry option altogether?

Does it sound like I'm supporting them? Because I'm not, but this is what's going to happen. We'll freak out to find out nothing's happening and then they'll slowly change things. The boiling frog thing.

So did they intentionally miserably failed in the past? They were not mistakes?

If you think the whole GWX thing was simply a mistake on their part you're horribly naive.

Microsoft has shown a brazen disregard for bad publicity since the release of windows 10; bad publicity which is almost always due to fucking over the consumer in some way.

Windows 10 UI looks like two different OSes got smashed together.

you are REALLY missing the point by a several fucking miles here. its not just about microsoft, it's about the fucking people in charge of the country going nuts and having a fucking goldmine if they decide whatever they want to be ground for sending someone to concentration camp.

I did not disagree with this. I'm just saying that this won't be done via basic telemetry of Windows 10. It'll come later.

K.

...

I've observed the same but I can select Edge, IE or Firefox. I cannot select Chromium. I have no idea why. This problem didn't exist before Windows 10 and its idiotic buggy Metro based settings panel.

Mine was doing it before Creator Update. There's no checkbox next to the reset button. If that checkmark does that, it's a dumbass control. Nobody puts a checkbox next to a button to make the button automatically activate.

Oh. I was finally able to fix it by using "set defaults by app" at the bottom. That took me to the old Win7 style "set your default programs" control panel, which of course worked as designed.
