You CANNOT post ITT if you fell for the memes and remorsefully """upgraded""" your Sandy to any of the subsequent housefires.

who else /notgoingtoupgradeanytimesoon/ here?

feelsgoodman

Built my first PC ever. Managed to get an i7 7700K for $250.

Hope this thing stays as relevant as Sandy Bridge did.

soon (tm) i'll have 16 sandy bridge cores and then i'll truly be /sandybridgemasterrace/

I have a housefire?

what about ivy bridge

I fell for the IdeaPad meme and ended up with an Ivy Bridge housefire. A real meme-within-a-meme.

I'm on broadwell and before that i was on Athlon64 X2 from 2007

Once you use such deprecated hardware, you realize that the difference between sandy/ivy/broadwell isn't actually big enough to make a difference at all.

Good thing I'm in the elite sandy tier with my 2700k, and not trash sandy tier with their 2500K.

4.8GHz, temps up to 72C on NH-D14

My 2500k.
Will it last a decade ?

Just two more years.

Sup nigga.

What voltage? I have mine at 4.6GHz/1.35V right now, but I want to push it a bit more.

>Sandy-bridge-E
>filename

Been thinking about picking up one of these, but I´d have to also get a new mobo.

For that money I´m probably better off going for skylake

Quad Core i5-2520M reporting in.

Even though the 3930k is great, I wouldn't get one now, just because Skylake is so cheap..

Been Oc from Day 1!

Where is 2600k senpoopi?

What if I upgraded from Nehalem to Skylake?

What about people who weren't building pcs during the Sandy era? I was still in high school.

can i join or is this for corelets only?

Only if you promise to keep a fire extinguisher beside you at all times.

>Haswell i7
>Useless 1050ti

Please be bait

6c12t at 4.7ghz

>Skylake 1.01
>Longevity of Sandy Bridge
Keep fucking dreaming. And I say that as a owner of a 6700k

I got the 1050Ti because it's about as powerful as my old 780 and my 780 died on me. It plays GTAV on max settings at about 50 FPS so I'm not too worried. The RAM I found laying around in my basement, and the CPU runs pretty cold with okay-ish performance. The Seagate has over 47,000 POH with no problems.

it happens

I upgraded from shitty AMD to this gold and never looked back

...

Haswell housefire reporting in.

Welcome to the club.

You fucking retard you forgot your speccy

Die horribly

1.38v

wew lad, what kind of temps you get with that thing?

Contain your autism user, here it is.

Are you sporting the stock cooler?

Yup, and I am using a fan curve to max them out whenever the CPU hits 70C. I manage to keep it below 80C.

???
I max out at 47°C with my 4770K by just using the meme cooler. (Pic related) Why not spend 20 bucks on an aftermarket cooler?

used to have a 2500k, but it died. still on sandy bridge though

>using the shitty walmart version of the evo 212

Too poor senpai. Studying abroad is a brutal experience.

I just pulled a pic off of Botnet, here's mine.

>inb4 "dusty"

I feel for ya, keep on chugging with her then, use it to keep warm during the winter.

Sandy Bridge? So this is like a poorfag thread rite?

gets up to around 70C at full load, no need for extinguishers

it's "liquid" cooled with a 240mm aio piece of shit. custom loop would be better but this is a micro atx system and there's not a lot of room in the case

it's my not-quite-compact programming workstation

>tfw it's still not powerful enough but i don't want to spend on a 6950X or some wallet-destroying xeon

jelly of dat voltage, i sit at 4.7 because i don't want to crank the voltage up any higher to make 4.8 stable

at current settings it'll boot at 4.8 but won't survive a stress test longer than 5-10 mins

i haven't played with the per-core multipliers though, could probably wring a bit more out of it for single/dual core use

all i5 users are poorfags, even if it's skymeme or baby lake

And people showing off their """""""""Housefires""""""""""

Noice

Add another cooler on the other side for MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE

I used to have a case fan zip-tied to the other side for shits and giggles, but I removed it when I replaced my GPU.

Not the machine I'm currently using but my secondary is an i3-2100, bought from a Sup Forumsent and built at the end of the year. Don't have a speccy shot on hand unfortunately.

>i7 7700K
>as relevant as Sandy Bridge
Wow, that's fucking embarrassing.

>jelly of dat voltage
Yeah, it boots into windows readily at that voltage and multiplier, but stepping up to 4.8GHz requires over 1.35v. It's a massive jump.

Can I post? My X220 is Sandy Bridge

>tfw you hope your motherboard lives a long life so you can keep that i7-2600k running as long as possible

I hope an emp takes it out aand leavs you sad fuck you i hate you i hate no one but you you do not deserve to live

Fuck off

if an emp were to go off there were would be bigger things to worry about

kys

fuck off

Joke's on you, I keep my computer in a Faraday cage at all times.

>sandy vagina poorfags trying to grasp at superiority
lmao

I'm in the same boat, but for X99-2011-3 socket.

Hoping my motherboard lasts because in 3-4 years I want to pick up a second hand Xeon 2699V4 for cheap af on ebay.

All these elite Sandy posters...so many attempts at purchase justification.

To be fair, the jump from the first gen core i series to the 2nd generation (sandy bridge) was pretty fucking drastic, like 20-30% IPC improvement if im remembering correctly.

i went from an i7-860 to i7-3770K, performance gains were huge

then i bought my 3930K a few months later, because cores

Not too powerful but works for me

You fags are insufferable.
If you do anything other than gaming, a 6+ CPU will do it better. If it's light shit, then even a fucking pentium will do. Since you faggots are probably talking about gaymes, quad cores are nearing their limits and you can see that shit even on the monsters like the 7700k having almost no headroom left while 6+ core parts have plenty. SB was amazing, but your delusion of not upgrading anytime soon needs to be checked.

Well this machine was an upgrade to my mothers facebook machine (c2d. 3gb ram) when it couldn't handle farmville 2 anymore.

Grabbed it for $80 kangaroo dollars and am waiting for a cheap old GPU and more RAM to turn up. It should keep her happy for a couple more years.

Get that stick out of your anus, not everyone here has their lives revolving around their PC's and upgrading them once every six months.

my life revolves around my pc and i've had the same hardware for 3 years. Well, except the ssd upgrade and some extra ram sticks.

2500k here

If there is ever a reason to upgrade, i'll let Sup Forums now. Ultimate WAIT.

>upgrading them once every six months.

sandy bridge was 5 years ago, you'd be hard pressed to buy a replacement motherboard after 3 years if yours happens to die never mind after 5 years

400fps 8k VR porn

>six months.
>more than 6 years now

I upgraded from C2Q Q6600 and 8GB DDR2, to 5820k and 32GB DDR4.

I skipped the entire DDR3 generation (excluding the fact the Q6600 offered DDR3 support with later motherboards)

yay special club

2400 here, feels breddy gud.

I've been considering getting a Ryzen build, though. Not really because I have any need to upgrade, but just because it would be fun to run a few microbenchmarks on a new µarch.

>tfw won't go over 4.1GHz without raising volts like hell
>tfw shit cooler and idling at almost 40°C

:(

Wish i had sandy bridge :( ivy bridge is shit - Intel management engine

good goy, please buy the newest socket every two years, rubbity rub

:^)

IME Goes back to ~2006 and it was on the motherboard.
Then it was integrated into the CPU later around 2008. By 2010 it was existent throughout the product stack.

Sandy bridge had it. Nehalem had it, Core2duos and quads had it. etc, etc.

tfw godtier 3770k, 4.4 ghz with only 0.05V increase from stock voltage. Feels gud man

To Emulate Cemu I'm OCing my 2500k hard

Its running at 95C for hours at a time, how long can I keep this up? Weeks? Months?

Same, feels bad man

Try 40x 103Mhz

who /nehalem/ here?

i5 2500K / HD7850 / 8GB RAM here. I was planning on upgrading this year, but when I saw the current RAM prices I noped the fuck out of that idea.
Sucks, cause 8GB really isn't cutting it anymore. And I can't bring myself to buy an extra set of DDR3 when it's already obsolete.

>sandy vagina
Nehalem master race

i7-920 running strong @ 4.2ghz since day one like 8 years ago

I thought I'd have to upgrade to emulate BotW on Cemu but I guess I was wrong

Bump up your ram voltage!

I dont understand the fire memes. Do people not use aftermarket coolers?

Its a fun chip to use, but no overclocking makes it meh. Very tempted to go to a 1700X since clock for clock the performance boost is something like 50% greater or so.

feels good man

>I am a poorfag and can't afford a new CPU so I'm gonna go on Sup Forums and act like it makes me special and smart ha that will surely make me feel better.

I'm in Intel shill and I get paid to shitpost. Read my shitpost (or don't, I'm just a shitpost)

>935mhz

>mfw hackintosh/win10 master race

>anyone who doesn't agree with me is a shill
>I don't know how to use greetext properly

Keep telling yourself an old CPU is somehow better

im about to go to ryzen 1600
it just werks like 2500k

Does Ivy bridge count? I have an 3570k at 4.4 ghz 1.24 volts.

6c 12t at 4.7ghz
>on a chip from 2010

I was already a young adult living on my own and couldn't afford a new sandy build. I ended up getting a locked ivy for vt-d plus a little overclock. That solid year of reading all the bombastic reviews, seing pics of the extreme clockspeeds, the raw power!, my A64 was ancient and I felt like such a shitter.
It's genuinely entertaining how you youngins eat up the 200fps ultra benchmarks. Even a clocked 2500k does fine in almost every title 1080/1440@ 60hz, probably every game on high/very high. Gamerfgts
ouch, sell on ebay and spend the few bucks to get another.
emulating wii u, turns into ps3, pottery
t. kid who wasn't even jacking off yet when sandy was released.
