You can only post ITT if you are one of the elite Sandy Bridge master race.

You CANNOT post ITT if you fell for the memes and remorsefully """upgraded""" your Sandy to any of the subsequent housefires.

who else /notgoingtoupgradeanytimesoon/ here?

who /lastgoodmac/ here ?

but that's not a cheesegrater PowerMac, user

Westmere, Gulftown and SB-E welcome as well.

Running at 4.6GHz currently. Will there ever be a reason to upgrade if you didn't fall for the 144Hz meme?

>1080
>Dual 1080p displays
At least get a 1440p screen

I post ITT with a 3570k.

i5 4690 haswell reporting in

Why has there been at least one of these shitty Sandy Bridge threads every day for the past week?

Stop spamming you retards. Your processor is okay but has been eclipsed in performance by even Haswell.

I'll buy a new monitor when monitor manufacturers sort out their fucking garbage tier quality control. I tried five different 1440p IPS monitors last year, along with two 4K IPS ones, and every last one had unacceptable bleed and/or glow.

SB wannabe cucks

does sandy-EPeen count ?

>SB wannabe cucks
lol I got my haswell for free so I don't care, also why would I want a cpu from 2011?

why would you want anything newer if this 2011 is only marginally slower than Babby Lake

>25-30% overclock headroom that matches or beats haswell
>cheap as fuck
>fairly modern, has USB 3 and SATA 3 support
the last genuinely amazing intel architecture, except maybe for westmere and the X58 chipset

Fuck yeah Devil's Canyon #represent

desktop haswell was a mistake, those oregon hipsters over at intel done goofed.

this, also
>die soldered to IHS instead of snot TIM

horrible TIM is a real issue apparently. Who even needs proper heat dissipation, it's only a 300$ processor, amirite.
Also don't even get me started on the FIVR meme for haswell, it's like intel just stopped trying after sandy bridge.

>intel just stopped trying
which is precisely why amd cpus need to sell, literally everybody (as in both intelfags and amdfags) would benefit

AMD® Athlon™ 64 X2 4800+ master race in this ITT thread
Kill yourself plebs

I'm still sitting on my 2500k. I don't even bother overclocking, no point.

Elitebook 2560p outchea

>2500k
>K
>I don't even bother overclocking, no point.

I know. But it just feels so pointless. Should've just gotten the plain regular 2500 instead, but it's been like 5 years already.

Got an i7-2600 with a motherboard and 8gb 1600mhz ddr3 for $250 maple bucks this summer when my old i5-750 died.

I have to say, between the ipc increase and the HT I figure I'll be fine until Zen 2 or 3 for an upgrade. Still rocking a gtx 670 too, although that's getting replaced as soon as the wait(tm) for Vega is over along with a 4k monitor.

sell it and get a Xeon 1230-70v2, or an i7- 3770 you'll have 8 threads and much better performance stock.

>implying I didn't build my current desktop in 2015 using an i5-2500

2600k here. Still doing nicely.

sandy bridge was a hoax

gross, stop using ancient 90nm housefires user

might upgrade to a 3930K or an E5-1xxx Xeon if I manage to cop a mbo at a reasonable price.

20%ish IPC gains should be nice.

It has the same overclocking headroom as 22nm parts. The only difference that shitty IHS/paste job makes it more difficult. Delidding and fixing it removes this problem.

SB chips aren't cheap either the chips since still hold their value. The 6 series platform itself doesn't even have native USB 3 support, PCIe 3.0 and NVMe.

Skylake eclipses Sandy-Bridge family in every way possible.

SB users are just new "440BX/Slot 1" fanboys who insist that their shit is still relevant.

Actually it is much closer to ~5-10% gains at best, but at least Sandy-Bridge-E isn't a blast furnace when overclocked.

>Sandy-Bridge-E isn't a blast furnace when overclocked.
They're both 32nm parts, no reason for it to me much cooler than Westmere.

sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet

Down to earth i5-2400 reporting.

Okay for casual gaming and compiles great with ssd and 12 GB ram.

I'm not planning to upgrade my 2500k any time soon but last I checked it was reading 45c at stock clocks in the UEFI. I have an NH-D14 so either I fucked up the thermal paste really badly or something's up with the sensor. probably the former.

Haswell-E master race

Definitely not going to downgrade from a 6700k to that shit.

>X5690
>not overclocked to at least 4.5ghz
what a fucking travesty

You're dumb.

sauce for wallpaper?

Upgrading is a meme.

Had It since 2011 and still don't feel compelled to upgrade.

Back when I got I did overclock it to 4.6GHz but it would blue screen after about 19 days running 24/7 so I got it back to stock and that's where it has been since then. If I ever upgrade i'll just get a non K part or rather something that's compatible with ECC ram since I value stability more than performance.

Got a sandy bridge since Sup Forums was hyped as fuck back then and I don't regret a single bit till this day.

...

SandyBridge-E here
If I ever upgrade, it will be to a better sandybridge

Upgraded me 2700 and can't say I really notice shit. But the old 2700 sure makes a hell of a home server.
