Whats the point of such a distro?

muh rice and muh runit

lack of packages i want
otherwise, i would be using it

>shit repo that lacks countless packages
>hurr u should be using it
Fuck you and your shit thread, faggot.

because i couldn't get it working on my laptop. I've tried IRC, i've tried scouring the wiki for every distro out there for hints. no dice
pls help

But I am.

The only packages I've found lacking are some specialised niche software, and there's nothing wrong with compiling software and adding it to a package yourself.

>there's nothing wrong with compiling software and adding it to a package yourself

There is if you are employed and need a computer to get things done

if by get things done you mean, reinstall linux constantly, yeah, i agree

otherwise, my linux setup on GENTOO BABY took less than 3 hours and im on an old ass stinkpad

i am.
i settled for void since i got fed up with arch and enjoy the systemdless freedom

And what oh so essential packages are you missing? Void has always been reliable to have anything popular and it has more packages than arch linux who just tell you to use AUR when they don't want a package in the repos

muh packages
just use artix or gentoo if you want to get away from the evil systemd boogeyman

Haven't had the time to try it yet.
If you want packages with init scripts written by maintainers there's only sysv. systemd and runit. If you want something modern which isn't systemd, Void is literally the only option.

Had more problems with it than arch (mostly having to spend too much time getting things not available for it, and them not necessarily working out of the box)

Use this for all of my servers and would use it for desktop as well if it was actually any good for that

How do I install a distro that doesn't use systemd on a macbook

Same way you'd install any other distro on a macbook?

I don't know how

Do you know how to flash to a usb?
Do you know how to boot your mac from the usb?

>install refind and reboot
>write desired gnu/freedom distro installation image to usb flashdrive
>reboot to flashdrive
>follow installer steps
>reboot to new operating system

I can't decide on a distro

When did Gentoo change their branding?

You meant: if you work for a spreadsheets factory.

Smart people use linux, accept your place in the world

I can't because no java 9.
last time I try with openjdk tarball it was garbage.
Back to debian buster until they add openjdk9

Install Gentoo.

But I am.

But user I am.

A brainlet's view of business world.
Smart people use linux as a tool not as an end in itself.
I need my operating system to run software I need, if I wanted to spend time compiling some git hub project, I would have become a pajeet.

but i do and its pretty comfy tbqh famalama

Oh, but I am

I use debian on my laptop bc I couldn't get UEFI and Disk Encryption to actually work. Thinking about trying it again soon.

Consider contributing and maintaining a package, it's not hard to do. That's how free software grows, that's it's strength.
