He uses a "free" anti-virus like avg or avast

>he uses a "free" anti-virus like avg or avast
>not just using windows defender

I can PM you Kaspersky if you want

*she
macOS doesn't get viruses sooo....

>Using an OS that is vulnerable
Holy shit are you guys as worried about y2k as I am?

HAHHAHAHA.
>Pressing backspace 28 times logs you into linux
>Requesting more bytes to a heartbeat than sent results in the server just handing over potentially confidential memory contents

Anything past a physical rock with no networking is vulnerable. A network enabled rock is vulnerable.

A network enabled rock is pretty much the IoT

>he needs an antivirus in 2017
what the fuck are you downloading that can possibly be unsafe, you dolt

I hope you only download apps from the app store.

>>Pressing backspace 28 times logs you into linux
Linux is just the kernel. It's especially important to realize this in this case, because the thing you're talking about is only a problem in GRUB, which is not even required. Many people use "syslinux", which didn't have the issue.

All non-free software can contain malware. All of it, no exceptions. If you are using even one non-free program, you are not safe.

Yeah it is, and they are both insecure.

IoT has it's valid use cases but right now it's so new it's like when they first added sounds to PC's and they literally made a sound for EVERYTHING.

Just because you CAN doesn't mean you SHOULD.

>he doesn't use Common Sense 2017

Common Sense is placeboware

there is no bigger malware you can put on your computer than windows

if some btc miner can inject itself into the browser I doubt that even windows defender could handle it

if you don't use it, quite frankly, yes.

>unironically supporting GNU / Linux
1. GNU isn't even a valid acronym
2. The pronunciation and logo are stupid.
3. Those vulnerabilities are patched now, it's an example proving vulnerabilities exist.

How many unpatched vulnerabilities exist? I can assure you, it's more than 0. How long did that WPA2 vulnerability exist for after being discovered?

kek

>Common sense will protect you from unpatched 0days
>Large veiny brain in chair photograph.

It's a recursive acronym, it is still an acronym.

You lookup a fix how to pazch it.
it's common se- ooh. You are retarded, i get it.

How do you lookup a vulnerability that is privately discovered?
How do you lookup a solution to an unknown vulnerability?

Have you used a WiFi device after 2004 that used WPA2? Did you lookup the fix and patch it or did you use a vulnerable device unknowingly until just recently when someone released the known vulnerability to the public?

You are retarded.

>Pressing backspace 28 times logs you into linux
I just googled this.
Wow, laughing out loud here.

And just the other day that I was here, anons were boasting that Linux is made by professionals, unlike M$ and its band of pot-smoking hippies.

> (You)
>How do you lookup a vulnerability that is privately discovered?
I wait for someone to release a patch AFTER it has been publicized, ofc. it's comm-.. But hey Your Antivirus will protect you.
>How do you lookup a solution to an unknown vulnerability?
see above.
>Have you used a WiFi device after 2004 that used WPA2? Did you lookup the fix and patch it or did you use a vulnerable device unknowingly until just recently when someone released the known vulnerability to the public?
i disabled wps *gasp*
>You are retarded.
Getting so BTFO'd i wouldn't reply anymore. But i guess your oh-so-invincible Anti virus will even defend you of shame.

Alternatively, you could just use Linux, and not need antivirus at all.

it's a GRUB problem, not a Linux problem.

i'm gonna pirate it

All software has vulnerabilities like that.
On an apple device they had a password less root account you could just add and login to as a standard user.
Sony Playstation 3 sent plain text creditcard numbers over the internet and had to buy everyone credit card fraud detection.
MS has had plenty of known vulnerabilites unpatched for months or longer.
Valve ignored someone who reported a method of submitting a game to the store without any authority or approval even after it was emailed to them. They only took action after he pushed his game "Watch paint dry" for free. He should have pushed half life 3 for $60 and just uploaded a fake page, and the payload would actually be gay interracial porn.

NEETS just think they are immune to attacks because they use obscure setups. Security through obscurity is not real security. They are just as vulnerable. They are only fooling themselves.

>I disabled wps
So you used open unencrypted wireless internet. How does antivirus protect you from stolen information including passwords?

Stop posting you stupid child. Go to a bernie sanders rally or whatever you stupid kids do to fill the void of your time.

I work for a big electronics retailer in Europe. We sell mcafee lisences (which we get for free) but dont even use it outself in our service plan for customers. Mbam, adware removal tool and ccleaner is our standard cleanup programs. Super anti spyware if your shit is completly fucked. Everything gets uninstalled later ofc so we can keep selling shitty mcafee lisences to pensioners and computer illiterates

...

>even running antivirus
Fag it's called OpenBSD

:^) sent

>he doesn't use OSX and only signed software

Seriously, this is fucking great for grandma and idiots. You need to go out of your way into a prefpane buried a tab or two deep and enable the install of 3rd party apps. It's not hidden or hard, but for 95% of users they can get their software through the App Store and get nice sandboxed applications. Hell, even after you enable it the application must be opened via a left click-open at least once (after that it saves the exec hash and whitelists it). Kernel modules as well, anytime you try to install a 3rd party module you have to explicitly grant it access through Preferences. Installers can't just silently load shit into ring-0

I mean I've got brew installed and a fuckload of custom shit so it's moot. But for your normie user, you can't fuck it up. That and it actively discourages running random shit off the internet. It's a huge gaping hole that Windows users are still dealing with. Download trustMeImADolphin.exe and run it from dNet.gr, seems legit.

>using meme whore (((cosplayer)))
You fucked up your thread

You can login to the latest verson of Mac OS with a blank root password.
Please argue and defend that embarrassing vulnerability.

I installed CommonSense 2012, works great. I've been thinking about updating but it doesn't seem worth it.

>he uses antivirus

Uninstall that shit, antivirus = virus

>Doesn't use antivirus
>Removed the Windows Defender package with MSMG Toolkit
>Uses common sense and has been perfectly safe ever since

If your shit is completely fucked up you'd just re-install, right? Or..Or is that just me?

Same shit at a bestbuy in Canada, except it's Bitdefender which is almost decent aside from a couple annoying issues.
>virus removal is ~200$
>big list of "approved programs" doesn't include a single decent virus scanner
>just run MBAM and AdwCleaner anyway
>sell people the 250$ annual membership so they can do it all again in 3 months

Not him, but yeah generally. You almost never see shit get that fucked from regular viruses though, and most of the people you deal with at jobs like this have accumulated 6 years of shit on their computer with no backups or saved license keys or anything, and the
>no you don't have office 2007 installed anymore, when we said "everything will be removed and you will have to reinstall all your programs" that included office. No we can't give you Office 2016 for free, you can buy it for 170$ or use an alternative. Yes all your stored passwords are gone, you're going to have to sign back in to your accounts. No I don't know what that program your son installed for you 5 years ago was, but yes it has been removed.
conversation gets old really fast so I try to avoid doing it.

Hope you fa/g/s are using Comodo

pronunciation is stupid if youre a stupid amerifag

>knowing who that is

hello reditbro

I am from Sweden.

>exposing him exposes yourself
You would only know he was from reddit if you were too. You cesspoolian hagglemoff.

>he uses winblows

>All non-free software can contain malware
Yeah, including your anti-virus software you genius

Im lazy and bad at computers
What antivirus should use If I want to use one

Avast free is decent, I use that. Panda is decent too but requires more power.
Read some av-test.org articles to get an idea.

Sorry not Panda but Avira free. That site says it gives good performance, well it wasn't my case.

This.I use Windows as a vidya console, doing anything actually security-sensitive on Windows is pretty fucking stupid. I don't know how people can choose to pirate stuff or give payment details to a website on windows.

If you pay for MBAM doesn't it turn into an AV? Anyone tried that, how is it.

he always has and prob always will, but hes not a fucking brainlet and makes stuff in it, unlike most pc users (including *nix users)

Used Webroot for a while. Too cheap to shill for a new code though. Anybody else have a working code?

Don't really need an antivirus tho. Common sense and doing shit for myself has mostly kept me safe tho.

>hes on a technology board
>he uses windows

Common sense + Resseting Kaspersky trials master race.

>he use windows

Cuck

Webroot is a shit. Why would bestbuy want you to have a good AV when they charge to fix problems caused by malwre?

>Webroot is shit
Nah senpai. Unintrusive as shit. Light weight. In my experience better than Avira and AVG and any other shit I've used.

fuck id install kaspersky for that boi to play with my holes

>she
Woman don't have a penis, my dude.

I just use avast because is light than win defender.

sauce?

>macOS doesn't get viruses sooo....
What about the virus that was shipped with the version of Transmission 2 years ago? It's been a while since then, but it is a virus.

I saw here tits and they're nice

yes they can, you've never heard of a feminine penis?

Kaspersky Free

>using an antivirus instead of just disabling defender and being smart

It does. It’s just much less likely to be targeted and less likely to be vulnerable without explicit actions by the user.

That's just a feminine-looking dude with a dick, whether it be a trap or a "transsexual".

>he doesn't use the patrician Malwarebytes
lol
