Well I don't know what to do

well I don't know what to do.

I was planning on buying really cheap and old Intel CPUs for my server but the extreme loss of performance to patch the issues means I'll have to wait another 5 years for Ryzen to get cheap so that I can buy those instead

why is everything so fucking cruel, I desperately need a server and I'm not paying 400 dollars for a good Ryzen CPU

What do you need a server for?

storage, plex, torrenting, seedbox, backup and mainly to get rid of the humming noise of hard drives

Just buy a used pre-built computer off of ebay and throw a few extra hdds in there then.

I use a pre '13 Intel Atom for this. They are as one of the few not vulnerable and are very cheap ($70 or something).

i thought every intel cpu was affected by the recent issues (ME, meltdown, spectre etc)

where did you read it's not affected at all?

>be me
>poorfag
>have really old laptop
>install kernel patch
>laptop start shutting down under heavy load

You are right, my bad.

The old Atoms only aren't vulnerable to Meltdown. It's something I guess:

is u confused?

you were going to buy something old and cheap
but because of software patches you're worried it'll be too slow? so you have to wait another 5 years to buy something old and cheap then?

that's still a lot of money, and i doubt supermicro boards support it, or ECC

I feel like he needs a mobo and RAM too.

>I'm not paying 400 dollars for a good Ryzen CPU

if you're destitute the last thing you need is a server

get a pre-2013 atom
or amd
or powerpc
or sparc
or arm

tried it.
the dam thing is so old and crappy i couldn't open it.

bull shit

listen to yourself
too old and crappy you couldn't open it!?
bitch please

>i couldn't open it
What? I mean I understand you couldn't open it without the risk of breaking the case but since it's unusable anyway why give a shit? Tear that case off.

>well I don't know what to do.
Kys

Would you be interested in Intel pentinium 4 2 cores?

>The most affected systems are the ones with older cpu's
>On older OS's

I might have the tinfoil hat a bit too tight, but I'm starting to think this is all a clever ruse to slow older parts down and get everyone to upgrade. I mean, even after this, normies would still buy Intel and M$ regardless.

>is u confused?

How about stop speaking like a fucking nigger.
