If you were to give an unmotivated but intelligent NEET (who quickly loses interest in shit) step by step instructions on how to start programming to land a job, what would they be?

First thing would be to let him know he's dumb.

check for ADHD, depression, and low test
start working out
leave 4ch
also: seek help, as you're fundamentally malfunctional

>intelligent NEET
oxymoron. you wouldn't be a NEET if you were intelligent.
>t. autistic NEET shutin of over 13 years

Fine, but after that? I'm like one of those fucking indecisive assholes who needs clear cut instructions and hand holding. I really don't understand why I'm like this, but every normie I know tells me I'm really fucking smart.

Already lift. Pic related is my home gym. ADHD have anything to do with boredom? Everything fucking bores me. Maybe I am low test. Who knows. I'm absolutely fundamentally malfunctional.

Intelligence is one thing but 'smart' is another. Smart usually implies something past the ability to learn quickly.
It implies a sort of devotion and understanding to something that most people don't have and unfortunately for you, you never become an expert in anything because you lose interest in things.
What do you spend most of your time doing, like every day? Sup Forums?

ADHD has a lot to to with executive functioning/motivation.

if you're managing to survive without exerting any work, you're smarter than most people

>What do you spend most of your time doing, like every day? Sup Forums?

Basically. Sometimes I pick up a video game but I lose interest after a binge period with little to no sleep. About the only thing that keeps me on schedule is my workout routine. I'm like that with everything. It's some sort of compulsion period that comes and then just goes.

>i'm on Sup Forums mostly every day
>intelligent

>thinks human behavior only depends on one variable
>intelligent

By Sup Forums autism standards I'm a retard, okay.

Why bother asking for advice if you didn't want to be judged against the standard of Sup Forums autism?

>I'm a neet
>let's ask some neets about how to stop being a neet

>intelligent

kill yourself

>needs clear cut instructions and hand holding.

Looking smart has nothing to do with being smart. Of course, you would know that if you actually were smart.

Does scoring in the 98th percentile on a GED without even studying for it count for anything?

look up the MIT challenge.
some guys self taugh himself the MIT CS curriculum in one year.

then after that, simply try to make a portfolio, build some app you wanna make and then show it in the interview.

I got a friend who now is a software engineer with a high school diploma because he started to make websites and got hired by a company to manage their websites then he started to learn from coworkers and got the company certifications.

Now he has like seven years of experience.
Do you think people give a fuck because he has a HS diploma?

Only so much that you can keep telling yourself you're smart while you're being autistic.

If you'd die the second the State stops treating you like a gibsmedats, you're not that smart.

Well, I'm not on any state gibs, I sell porn with the wife. Make about $100k a year.

Who the fuck knows. Are there people who have recovered from long term neetdom? If there are, they are not here.
I think the most important thing is that you keep making progress every day and have real life interactions with real people, not online.
The problem isn't finding the right guide but sticking with it. What's the point of step by step guide if one doesn't follow it. Arguably you already got given at least one step by step guide, the same as everyone else got, you just didn't follow it.

not sure if you're OP but if you're making money you're not a neet

i was neet for 7 years before getting a software developer job, I'm still here
I wouldn't call it "recovering" since working life is a downgrade in pretty much every respect

>intelligent
Have you actually done anything to prove you're intelligent?

Am OP, still consider myself a NEET because I basically don't do shit. Shoot a vid or two of us fucking then she sells it.

Pic related was GED scores. Wrote it on a spur one week when I was feeling "motivated". Didn't study for shit for it either, bought the GED book, glanced at the practice test, and that was it.

I'm 32 and I really don't know what I'm doing with my life.

>smart but lazy meme
chosing to be a neet is not a very intelligent decision

ged is piss easy, come back when you've studied at a university

>Learn java (head first java)
>Learn algoriths (algoritms 4th segedewick)
>Learn Spring + hibernate
>Learn git + svn
>learn sql
>learn html & css
>learn js (you do not know js book series)
>learn basic of angular & jquery
>Learn design patterns (ie. head first design patterns)

In free time learn cs math ie. discrete math with applications by epp.

Its enough to get intern/trainee as bigger company but without cs degree it would be good to have few spring project in your db

wow, a 32 year old destroying content designed for 18 year olds! amazing

>but intelligent

Stop lying to yourself,kiddo

This, flat out.

>destroying content designed for 18 year olds
It's easy as fuck even for 18 year olds. How the fuck do people struggle with it?

>but intelligent
Should have figured out that programming jobs aren't great, then.

Not gonna lie, it was retardedly easy. Wrote it 5 years ago and most of the people there were around my age at the time (mid 20s).

i did the IRL mensa test a few years ago without preparing at all, got an iq of 121. mensa level is 130+

>tfw smarter than average but too dumb, depressed and lazy to do anything with my life

join the rest of the losers over at

I'm mainly interested in programming because I hear that's something you can do for the most part from home, and I'm not big on fixing myself up in business casual attire.

That MIT challenge thing is kinda shit. The Odin Project maybe better as it actually prepares you to work but people like OP will be bored of it anyway because they low attention span like retards

Fair enough.

>I'm like one of those fucking indecisive assholes who needs clear cut instructions and hand holding
>but every normie I know tells me I'm really fucking smart.

you are a normie it doesnt matter if you are unemployed stop trying to fit in

IQ is just capacity for intelligence. High IQ is great, but you can still be a dipshit if you never motivate yourself. As long as your IQ is above 100 and you discipline yourself and you have good creativity, you'll find success. Obviously high IQ people who discipline themselves and have creativity will do better, but that's very rare and they're usually the chad of chads.

Yes. I have ADHD. Constantly bored. Peeps here will probably say it's not true. But look into the long history of research into it, it's real. If you have it there's info that can be of some help to you out there. Plus medication and behavioral therapy.

ADHD is a meme

You think the rest of us don't get bored too? Of course we do, it's called growing up. ADHD is codeword for lazy asshole who doesn't care enough.

it's pretty interesting that you can differentiate between people who has it and the people who don't through brain-scans, then

You can also tell who has depression through brain scans too, and people can go in and out of depression. Depressed/ADHD folk are mentally ill, true, but it boils down to not caring enough, which naturally makes you an asshole.

>You think the rest of us don't get bored too?
You think depressed people think non-depressed people don't get sad and apathetic too?
You think people with dementia think ordinary people never forget things?
it's almost like it's a sliding scale, and the actual condition being composed of several other things as well

it's almost like you don't have any clue of what you're talking about.

EXECUTIVE FUNCTION. PREFRONTAL CORTEX. READ UP

Yeah. Fuck science. 'They' just trying to drug the youngins.

The way you act and behave can change your brain? Oh who knew, woah. Did you know more than 3 days of complete solitude with no activity in an empty room can lead to permanent brain damage? If you cared initially you wouldn't let yourself spiral out of control. People aren't born depressed or with ADHD, dipshit.

A better treatment would be living in the army. If you're still bored when bullets are flying past your head you definitely have problems.

>You can also tell who has depression through brain scans too, and people can go in and out of depression.
sure. that doesn't mean "if depression can be detected through scans, and you can get out of depression, then you can stop having adhd because you can also detect it through scans"

>but it boils down to not caring enough
gee, I sure wonder what part of the brain deals with motivation and higher executive functions, and what neurological disorder makes these areas less active?

it boils down to you not understanding anything at all about basic neuropsychology

>The way you act and behave can change your brain? Oh who knew, woah.
what was the cause of this response? I see to basis for it in the quoted comment.

>more than 3 days of complete solitude with no activity in an empty room can lead to permanent brain damage?
no source for this claim whatsoever.

>If you cared initially you wouldn't let yourself spiral out of control.
it's almost like some people are born with neurological conditions

>People aren't born depressed or with ADHD, dipshit.
that's true for depression, but not ADHD. I guess you need to read up again.
[expletive]

It's not my fault you can't understand basic logic. I never said it wasn't neurological, because obviously it is. Let me be more clear so your hyperactive brain doesn't wander off again:
You aren't born with ADHD or depression unless you have some kind of birth defect where that part of your brain didn't develop.
Both are caused by an initial lack of caring, because maybe life wasn't worth caring about.
So people with ADHD/depression simply didn't look at the big picture or try to stop themselves from spiraling into an unfixable disease; making them an asshole. Kids with ADHD usually grow out of it.
>no source for this claim whatsoever.

I trust vsauce a lot more than some random user on Sup Forums.
>it's almost like some people are born with neurological conditions
Were you? Did part of your brain fail to develop properly?

I wish you guys just gave me a path to success like this guy...

can't you just become a nigger and leech welfare like a normal citizen ?

Eh, I'd rather kill myself.

>Do you think people give a fuck because he has a HS diploma?

I dropped out of high school, never got a GED. When applying for jobs, I just say that I graduated. I've never been asked, at any job, about this.

Get your depression sorted out first.

get started with python, using codecademy.

then spend some time using C.

after that you should have a much better idea of where to go next.

>python
>codecademy
Satan no, don't be so mean.

What's wrong with this?

I just started C K&R and I can say, after many years of hating programming, this book has managed to make it fun. The exercises in it are very fun, they're more like puzzles and they're practical as well. Exercises include making a barebones version of wc, removing comments from C programs and even checking for syntax errors. This is the first time I'm having fun programming, and I just started the book.

Not him, but what's wrong with codecademy? You've got an environment set up for you, so you see results immediately, no install required. That's great for beginners senpai.

The real atrocity is:
>python
>then C

I guess codecademy is good for brainlets, but it really isn't a good way to learn for anyone serious.

C is beautiful, it's very elegant and efficient. Python is disgusting. I hate almost everything about it.

Keep out of my swamp, brainlet.

>I guess codecademy is good for brainlets, but it really isn't a good way to learn for anyone serious.

It's a fucking learning resource. If they're learning, they're pretty serious. You sound like a fucking retard. Lol.

Read/listen to Jordan Peterson.

>The real atrocity is:
>>python
>>then C
What's wrong with that?

Uh oh, the big bad troll is bored again everyone! I bet you're that autist from earlier with ADHD.

youtube.com/watch?v=LhkGtd_OGCQ

>C
Is beautiful
>Python
It'd be easier to list everything that's right with it.

>intelligent but lazy

wow, so you're basically nothing.

So you have no serious reply. There's nothing wrong with codecademy for beginners. You're just a fucking tard.

>>I'm trolling you
>heh fuck off m8
>>Please take my bait
No.

I was diagnosed with severe “ADHD” when I was a kid, doing shitty in school and distracting the class etc. and guess fucking what? I got my shit together, a few things happened in my life that pushed me to make changes, and now I’m making 4.0 in college and working full time in a management position that requires taking my work home, and I stay on top of it, not because the “this is boring” thing magically went away, bi because it’s a normal part of being a human being and important to survival, but in the end YOU have the power to learn how to handle it. Depression is a very real chemical imbalance in the brain, and very debilitating. “ADHD” is a result of poor parenting and a person prone to daydreaming, which in itself isn’t bad. I’m not claiming I’m some chad with ultimate willpower, it’s simply growing up and not feeling sorry for yourself or pretending to be a victim because claiming ADHD is easier than accepting that you are simply a lazy person. PSA: you can change your laziness, and then you won’t feel so bad about yourself

Where can I sell tech related porn?

That might work user

Don't.

Pick a big problem

Turn it into smaller problems

Solve the smaller problems

You solve the big problem

That's how stay out of boredom
