Kanye ruins one of the best songs from an amazing album because he felt that having chris fuking rock talking on the phone for 5 minutes added some artistic merit??? I don't understand it.

Skits are just intros on separate tracks. It's the part of the song that the radio DJ doesn't have to play on the air. Skip them if you're just hopping from track to track, but it's part of the album experience when going from beginning to end. It's how it (mostly) always was.
