Reminder that the piano existed in Bach's lifetime. Reminder that piano is better than harpsichord. Reminder that "historical accuracy" shouldn't be a goal or even necessarily desirable.
>Post a piece by the best composer from your country. I don't know if I'd say Griffes is the best American composer, but this is one of my favorite pieces, it's very Respighi-esque
France wins France wins France wins Germany and Russia are fighting for second place

Palestrina really saves Italy, I think and sometimes I just can't help but get in the mood for some of that high renaissance dance music from Italy
he has a point, it's pretty hard to beat composers like Desprez and Costeley
Lincoln Rodriguez
how about we do this by era First up is the Renaissance actually who gives a shit
Next we have Baroque our biggest contenders are Germany and Italy
Next up we've got Classical this one's between Germany, Austria maybe Italy
next up is Romantic This ones quite diverse. Your choices are: Polish, Hungarian, German, Russian, Austrian, French, Italian, Czech, Belgium, uhh swiss?
Jaxson Bailey
>pretty hard to beat composers like Desprez and Costeley Palestrina and Monteverdi

>Medieval France. >Renaissance I can't keep the Franco-Flemish school composers straight and I don't want to call the wraith of Renaissanceanon. I'll just say Italy. >Baroque Germany or Italy >Classical Germany or Austria >Romantic Germany or France >20th century Austria? France? Hard one.The U.S. was starting to show it's worth too with Crawford Seeger and Ives. >21st century U.S.

Does the growth projection of late Schubert scare anyone else? Seems the highest acceleration in the late 20s of any big composer. Death chasing?
Nicholas Morgan
Literally the only composer from Russia worth saving, and he was practically French at some point.
Carson Cruz
I've sung a lot of it, recorded a CD with all of his Scottish folk song settings and few of the English ones. I've been thinking about learning the East Anglia folksongs for future performance too since I think they're quite lovely.
The EMI 30CD box set VW collection has about 40 tracks of folk songs (both those for choir and solo voice) if you're looking for more recordings. Although they are more 'refined' and choral than the earthy style in the link you gave.

Any serialist besides Schoenberg is a hack
Isaiah Williams
>Crawford Seeger >Ives >Serialists
Hudson Diaz
>Crawford Seeger’s reputation as a composer chiefly rests on her New York compositions written between 1930 and 1933, which are concerned with dissonant counterpoint and American serial techniques. She was one of the first composers to extend serial processes to musical elements other than pitch, and to develop formal plans based on serial operations (Tick 2001). Her technique may have been influenced by the music of Schoenberg, although they met only briefly during her studies in Germany. You're right about Ives though. He's just edgy
I'm absolutely looking for more recordings, I'll take anything you can recommend about Vaughan Williams be it books or recordings. I think his music is some of the most beautiful I've ever heard Is the CD you recorded available online?
Samuel Long

For those who haven't voted:
France is being considered the least shitty place for music. Germany, shittier than France.
Do you agree? Vote!

Alistair McAlpine's Lament is probably my favourite VW on there, followed by Loch Lomond
Joly Braga Santos. Portuguese. After WWII he went abroad an studied conducting with Herman Scherchen, Antonio Votto and composition with Virgilio Mortari

i fall too in this jewish trick. apparently Monteverdi music belong to "a so called" music renaissance due to the seconda pratica born, the melodramma born, the dissolution of franco-flemish counterpoint... don't mind them, they are just retarded. if Monteverdi is renaissance as Prokofiev is late romantic

Not bad, honestly. I feel like same with most composers during his time though, they were so restricted melodically that most of it just gets so boring after the first couple of listens. Thank the Gods for harmony..

I want to get into this cuck but no way I'm listening to 555 sonatas. Which ones are the best of the best?
Nicholas Hill
Start with the ones arranged into concertos grossos by his student Avison.
because every note is used to progress the music, each one has weight for the song, pop music has much more focus on the content of the lyrics, and radio pop music's lyics are generic so it fits as large a crowd as possible to let them assign their own meaning to it
Hunter Roberts
