Eastern-Central Europe would be too weak to stand on its own. We lack demographic and economic potential for that.

Our place is in the West. Our religion and culture attest to that.

Also being a gateway between West and East gives us a shitload of options imo. Its the major reason why i think Czechia would profit greatly from becoming a tax paradise.

Czechia and Slovakia were among a few EE countries that didn't experience a sharp demographic decline after the fall of the Berlin Wall.

They're dying and if we stay on their side we'll sink together with them.

People are leaving because these countries are shit. If we make them not shit, they will stop leaving.

Actually, with the West-East gate, i'm just talking about SL, CZ, PL union. If we'd play it right, it'd make us equal, if not better than Germany.

That would be very unbalanced. Poland is too big. It could be as strong as Spain, but not Germany.

Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia and Croatia have a history tied to the West. 1948-1989 was an aberration.

Ukraine and Moldova chose to be neutral and look how they ended up. It's not viable strategy for countries with our location.

TGM said that no army can defend a country with borders like Czechoslovakia. Only very clever diplomacy can accomplish that.

and yes russia is a shithole, all of it, bleak, dire and hideous. the only relatively nice looking places are going to be the financial areas and the city centres where people dont live unless youre a billionaire.

although to be fair poland has some nice new buildings, all paid for by britain, germany, france etc.

youre basing that off the really whacky contemporary architecture threads on here. theres plenty of beautiful modern buildings. look at midcentury modern architecture for example which came out of california. stunning.
