Finishing up listening to this. It's alright, but doesn't feel very substantial. I'd say the overall sound is like Crystal Castles aggregate... a little of all three previous albums mixed.
The album doesn't have any tracks with any real single weight like Crimewave or Celestica or Baptism or whatever. I thought Fleece was the best preview single and it's still the best or second best track here imo. Char is nice, has a pretty swooning vocal melody. Enth and Sadist are just decent. Frail is still totally forgettable. Concrete is whatever.
Kept really stands out, some of Kath's best production work. Sounds like a CC I jam.
Another thing is Edith's presence is barely felt on here. She doesn't come across like a frontwoman like Alice did. She's so indistinct.

i feel like they definetly rushed this album, since they've been touring so heavily this year. they probably made it on the road in between shows. im guessing crystal castles was broke and needed to make some money first. the album's not bad but i think the next one will be a lot better produced since they'll have more time and cash.

pretty solid record IMO even though it seems like ethan didnt give a shit about mixing it properly. i the new singer edith is interesting. she has a light/childish yet eerie style and theres a lot they can do with that for future albums. i think they'll probably release another album soon in 2017.

Sound pretty good to me. People seriously believe Alice is irreplacable are stupid as shit and obsessed with an image (otherwise known as being autistic) plus Edith is a superior looking whore to Alice who almost looked like she had fetal alcohol syndrome and was a mouth breather at a point.
