Why do they keep doing this? Who is making these decisions to change perfectly fine music and make it worse.

Why do licenced soundtracks only ever get posted in there threads? Wouldn't it be more interesting to post original soundtracks?
This.
To be clear, I don't even think this thread is asking "is it good music", so much as "does the soundtrack perfectly fit the music"?
This is a PERFECT FIT. And with the edgy DJ voiceovers, the only thing I'd say hits it better is Jim and Derrick.
The whole reason Isaac was creepy was the music by Danny Baranowsky. If you play your K-pop mix over it the game is only half as fun.

Oh fuck I forgot about this
It sounds like the music my roommate listens to except it doesn't have random out of place screaming bits that seem to only exist to make the band seem cooler to people who don't listen to metal.
Also assume we can post original soundtracks
That one exception isn't really winning me over. It's always like 75% licenced soundtracks that have the same late 90's and early-to-mid 00's songs.
NFS:MW soundtrack is awful
Pic related was much better, the Killing Joke song is my favorite

I tried to finish this game for almost 10 years. Never made it farther than the rangers. Then this year I finally did it. But I want to do it again. There's something in there, but I can't put my finger on it. Some idea I can't quite fathom.

What's some other music that sounds like this?
yeah it's great, maybe my favourite game ever
none of his other games are the same at all
>The Doors ft. Snoop Dogg
There is no better intro.
You're wrong.
I will always remember Over the Counterculture and Just Tonight from this game, every song seemed to work perfectly with the game
I never really got the random selection of classical, the only reason I can think of was to have some calm music while driving through the countryside area on the west side of the map
my nig
just posted this on the other thread too
this game was the shiz

my nigga.
Swans has a few tracks that's pretty similar. Secret Friends is the only one I can think of right now
FromSoftware games have some of the most fucking avant-garde music ever. I believe it's often thanks to Kota Hoshino, who apparently doesn't even have a musical education. What a genius.

Armored Core 2 has really interesting but also some really catchy stuff too.

Beatmask is such a weird song. A 4-minute barrage of beats. Love it.
Sweet seduction in a magazine
Endless pleasure in a limousine
In the back shakes a tambourine
Nicotine from a silver screen
most of the punk songs were shitty pop punk covers. still great soundtrack tho.
They were all fucking covers. Maybe if the original recordings were on there, it'd be GOAT.
Yeah Swans are a good example. Diablo is definitely dark ambient music but it has a big folk and classical influence where most similar sounding stuff like Zoat Aon or Lustmord use heavy sampling and synthesizers. More recs are appreciated.
fucking this!
that first song reminded me of this
such an underrated game
admittedly, the combat levels weren't that good but the main levels are god-tier
I fucking love that song.
I know. I downloaded a ps2 rom and i'm stuck on a fuckin combat level, at least the soundtrack is amazing
YOUR HANDS UPON
A DEAD MAN'S GUN
>The instrumental hip hop music that plays when you fight the shaman/shield hoodlums and in the credits
God tier underrated 3D platformer also
Can the normies get the FUCK OUT OF MY BOARD REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Last Raven had some good tracks too, even without Kota Hoshino.

>you will never be a DJ and drop this secret weapon in the middle of a set

If only Hoshino did the soundtracks for Souls. The music in those games is so generic.
>It's not been posted yet
I'm a DJ. Might do exactly that.
YOU GOTTA MAKE A STATEMENT OF INTENT
ignore the picture, while that games music is still amazing, Legends is better

I feel bad for literally everyone who has not gotten to play this
>all these pleb games with sound tracks that are just a collection of popular songs from the era
>not posting the greatest sidescroller of all time with a sick original sound track
Yuzo Koshiro is a big guy
Good post but where is the best track famalama?
Oh yeah, Hoshino of course didn't do the AC soundtracks alone, the other composers were always great too. But you can really tell when it's him behind a track, though I could be mistaken and everyone at From maybe has the tendency to make crazy music.
I'm a big fan of Motoi Sakuraba so I'm happy he got to do Dark Souls. I think the Souls soundtracks are great, honestly. But of course you can't really appreciate the pieces as you're playing, but I think the music is great. Lots of different styles of orchestral music.
It would've been really interesting though if Kota Hoshino had done it, yeah. But Sakuraba does some pretty avant-garde stuff himself so I think he's a good fit. Yuka Kitamura also did really great on the DS2 and 3 soundtracks.
And DeS' soundtrack is very unique and dramatic too, even if it doesn't sound as bombastic as DS.
that fucking
>BREAK DOWHN
gets me every time

Skate 1 and 2 soundtracks were based.

The album for this game has amazing and psychedelic remixes that are unique and well mastered.
good answers
nah, classical music starts when you stop a car for like a minute and Picture Paradise mode kicks in - burnout.wikia.com
>no mention of GOAT score Jak II

Very underrated soundtrack
I love the dynamic aspects too, like how an extra melody or layer of sound plays depending on whether you're driving, shooting or on the jetboard.
I was pretty old when I first played it, but I can see that it would be scary at times.

I don't think this game is well known, but it basically triggered my love of music when I was a kid. I still notice the composers influence on me whenever I write music youtube.com
