New songs out all the time! Uncle Garminder is working hard to build the ultimate journal of his day to day life.
Using music as his tool.
hey, haven't posted here in a while. I decided to combine my last two EPs into one album because they seemed to fit together really well.
lethargic-in-the-park.bandcamp.com
>ambient, experimental, lowfi synth
This is my favorite one so far, I listen to it sometimes and am proud of how it turned out, even if there were some things that (looking back) could have been executed better (like the vocals, and more variety with the drumming). My EPs with the exception of a couple songs kind of make me cringe now since I pretty much put them out just for the sake of it, without really letting the songs develop.
I think that what I'm currently working on has a lot of potential since it's pretty different from any existing bands, the question is whether I'll be able to nail the sound down the way I envision it. That's the hard part.

great music:
nikmis.bandcamp.com
this is my best and I am always just trying my best not really living up to my full potential you know but trying
I do like SKy Simplified, some of the high frequencies during certain parts were kind of harsh, but the idea (ambient with more active electronics) was nicely executed, reminded me of early OPN but more subdued
Loved the new album, all of your guitar work has a unique sound to it and your voice is great. All killer no filler, need to listen to the new tracks when I get some time
You should make some shirts, I'd buy one This is cool, the progressions are unusual and almost classical-sounding, definitely a cut above most synth stuff on here. Good use of layering in the first couple tracks.
Any feedback/listens on appreciated
You have a unique sound, I love the guitars that fill out the mix instead of taking the forefront, gives it a relaxed feel while still being "dense" likeyou described
I will be honest, the vocals kind of suck. I'd stick with either wordless stuff like in the second song, or get someone else (maybe a girl, they work better with dreamy stuff imo) to do them
I remember enjoying Giver Takes, your stuff reminds me a little of The Middle East. Good lyrics, and unique voice (didn't like it the first time I listened but it's very ethereal and does work well with the light guitars)
Ooh, you've improved. You've gained a sort of paulstretched berlin school aesthetic that I'm digging. I'll let you know that the difference between kitchy fl studio presets and full blown analogue retro synth design is velocity sensitive cutoff.
As a cohesive work I feel like this is my best EP - everything just "makes sense" and I feel like the sound is consistent enough to really qualify as a singular work

However, I feel like the third track on this one is the best I've ever written.

glad you liked it! yeah, I will have to mess with my filters and cutoffs more. one thing I regret is that there isn't much sampling, I still want to do more of that sometime.
just so you know sky simplified was a huge inspiration to me. listening to your new stuff now, copy is destroying my brain.
Whew. you're the first time i've been an inspiration to someone. congrats

I think it's 'Évtizedekre ottfelejtett gyűlölet' I and II. It's my most ambitious work so far, it had a concept.
/bc/ needs an art/composition guide. to avoid the dreaded "bandcamp cover"
I am having trouble making album art that doesn't look like its from bandcamp. What are some good tips
(I love the cover but the radical blur screams photoshop)
look at how "bandcamp" these all look. we need help guys. The first step is coming out and admitting we have a problem.
>art that doesn't look like its from bandcamp
wtf does this even mean
mine is not even a cover its just a picture i took and thought was appealing
would you also consider this bandcamp-tier? or pink moon's cover? or no love deep web?
the cool thing about album covers is they can be literally anything as long as the music is good. I don't think there's such a thing as a "bandcamp cover".
Bandcamp threads just simply never have good art and that's just how it is
Except that, pink moon, and no love deep web all have great covers
spiderland is cool looking because you associate it with good music. same with those other album covers. artistically they're not different at all from the other albums you quoted. even looks similar to spiderland
socialsmokers.bandcamp.com
Only work but
The difference is those albums actually have a strong subject. I personally hate the cropping on Spiderland though.
I have no problem with people using whatever they want but I just think it gives you an edge if you have something that stands out.
I probably would have gone with something like this for instance
>Experimental, Various Genres
>New Release
>Good Boy
>A Mouth Full
>Los Angeles, California, Bedroom, Folk, Indie, Pop.
Description:
The title of Good Boy's new album, A Mouth Full, is quite prophetic of what it has to offer. Dizzying, disorienting synthesizers and vocoders, dwindling guitars, and colorful, terse bursts of energy, composed and comprised aside George's soft spoken, illusory-filled lyricism. Quite the mouthful indeed.
Support, scrobble, or review on RYM. Any feedback of any kind would be greatly appreciated. And George give some love. Thank You. :)

I thought a frame like this (white or black) compliments an old photo.
Yes, I thought of Spiderland when I chose the album art. But a frame like this only works with BW, like old family pictures.
I didn't want the guy with the naval mine to be in the center, I wanted the whole photo to be in the focus.
The blur actually wasn't photoshop - I meant to take a picture of something else but I moved my phone (yeah it's a phone picture) when I took it on accident. It ended up looking cool - the only Photoshop is the desaturation and a little editing of the levels.
Pic related.
