Post your latest purchase(s)

Saw a thread like this yesterday, went out today and randomly found The Residents at my local record fair. The others are from earlier in November.

OP here

(and obviously other than just vinyl as well, since I posted some CD's I picked up that I wanted to share)

>not original f#a# '97 pressing with the bent coin

fucking pleb

post/math rock
gave me synesthesia on acid

>weyes blood and the caretaker

I love you man

One without cover is Paranoid by Sabbath

indeed, that Weyes Blood was amazing. Wanted to get the new Caretaker as well but out of god damn stock

I discovered her only recently, but I've dived in and listened to almost everything she's produced. Top quality

Just pre-ordered this.

...

noice, but those are some expensive records man

Yee.

Australian prices bro. Suffering.

I'm looking to get the charlie brown christmas record, it's just a straight up great jazz up with the added bonus of nostalgia

Most recent buys.

Eagerly awaiting Lush's Origami release in the post

Picked this up today, jazzy folky free-improv with Don Cherry.
Used to belong to Canadian artist Clive Robertson. Pretty cool.

No doubt. Comfy feels.

Is it normal to have like 90-70% of your collection be just random shit you find at auctions/flea markets?

Most of what I have is stuff I've never heard of until I bought the record. And weirdly enough, some of it is really good.

idk if it's normal, but I have never bought an album I haven't already heard, which I guess can be both good and bad since there is never anything new, but you know that what you're buying is good. I might start picking up some records unknown to me though, but I prefer first listening to the music online and then deciding if I want to pay for it

I wouldn't do it for expensive albums, but last night I got a box of 20-30 records for $5 at an auction, all in good condition. Most of it I didn't recognize, but it adds to the collection and what I've heard of the bunch is pretty good.

Flea Markets and auctions are great places to look, and records are usually $.50 - $1 at thrift shops

Pretty festive, I'm getting the Charlie Brown one when it arrives

Hey OP I just got the caretaker in the mail too!! Cheers buddy!!

>tfw fan of low roar since first album
>normies are going to flock to it and ruin now because of judeo kikejima

Sweet picks anons

I 100% get that it's cool to have a Kojima thing on vinyl. But $15 for a fucking 12 inch single is drop dead retarded.

Just got this

where to start with Low Roar?

youtube.com/watch?v=M_lyQ-OCIYs

My camera is shit, but I just picked this up today as an early birthday present to myself (along with some CDs, but this is a vinyl thread).

It's a splatter vinyl, so the price isn't completely retarded.

that charlie brown pressing sounds surprisingly good for translucent green vinyl

Good to hear, cuz I haven't opened it yet. Got one for me and one for daddio for xmas

nice, I got a copy as a gift last year and spun it for the first time all season a couple days ago

I don't think I'll ever tire of it

yeah, maybe it's like it doesn't matter if a record is anything other than black

more empty bliss pic pls

Sick cops dude really want to get that Caretaker album
Why is aussie pricing for vinyls so damn expensive
Man I gotta get a Christmas record
Fuckin dope picks
Post the cds friendo
Got these at the record shop a town over near me my local closed recently still bretty sad about that

I've got 20 minutes left on In The Nightside Eclipse. I'll post them in a bit.

Import tax, also because it's annoying to ship and there's not many vendors where I live.

Empty bliss is what I would listen to with dementia or alzheimers.

Damn man that sucks

Yep, built my computer for an extra $200 (this is after I converted from USD), bought my records for an extra $10-$20 and now I'm buying overpriced speakers for my setup.

These are the CDs I grabbed.

Got this for my gf for christmas. She doesn't collect vinyls at all, so I thought I would get things to start out using before she can really get into it. Her favorite band atm is Wet. She can't stop listening to them.

Nice pick ups. I would love to have a physical copy of Chill Out. One of my favorite albums

I love Zion Gate Records. They're a great record store. +Darkthrone, W@TG

That Crossley is going to destroy her records bro.

If you wanted to get her into vinyl collecting then why did you get her that godawful contraption for playing them?

how it going to do that?

Cause I'm not made of money and she never considered collecting vinyls. Let alone, wants to.

Haven't been buying much lately, this was the last big one

Mainly because the record platter is smaller than the records, so the records aren't supported. Thus, they bend while playing. And the tone arm doesn't have a counter weight. What do you use for yourself user?

the newer pressing has the bent coin as well

>I love Zion Gate Records.
Yeah, it's a fantastic store. I'm going to have to get down that way more often. Living up north sucks.

>caring about materialistic shit

kys turbopleb

go to an independent store rather than jb hifi or wherever you got those from to get decent prices lol

If you're on Sup Forums and you're not an audiophile you need to leave.

I feel so bad for all the wannabe hipsters buying Crosley.

It's not their fault. They're the only record players you can find in stores without going to a pretty special place. They don't know that the needle grinds into the record, that they desperately need a counterweight, that the whole thing is so low quality they'd get a better sound from a streaming service with speakers connected by AUX. They're just not informed.

If any of these people are reading this, I want you to let you know that you can get a decent Audiotechna for not that much more. It sounds so, so much better and doesn't literally carve into the record.

Hell, even an old model from the 80s is better than those. I hate Crosley for selling it because I know they know how shitty it really is, but they're smart for capitalizing on the wannabe hipster market.

>posting this in a fucking vinyl thread
oh the ironing

Agreed. It's unfortunate, because as you said these damn Crossleys will LITERALLY destroy the vinyls you buy over time.

The worst part is that there's absolutely no counterweight on them. None. The needle seriously is just dropped right on the record with the full force of gravity pulling on it.

just bought something off of somebody through paypal for the first time. can sellers update the details with tracking information or tell you when they ship or anything? or am i just in the blind until it arrives? should i email them and pester them to see if it has shipped?

platter is too small so record hangs over the edge while playing which causes it to warp over time not to mention the un-weighted needle arm pressing down WAY TOO HARD and damaging the surface grooves

>vinyls
>crosley
Hello, please kill yourself. I hope your girlfriend leaves you.

I have a pioneer. Can't remember the model but its a vintage. But I have a setup because I do collect vinyls. I'm willing to invest into a collection. I just don't know if my gf was interested in something like that. So I gave her something I could afford with the little money I have from going to school and working part time.

I feel you. My suggestion would be, just get her a record or two instead of the player, and let her play the records at your place. Then, late, if she shows interest in records, you could get her a player next time.

Its not a permanent primary driver for vinyl playing... Just something to get her into the idea of collecting vinyls.

Its not a permanent primary driver for vinyl playing... Just something to get her into the idea of collecting vinyls.

Her birthday is in February. I was planning on getting her the whole 9 yards given that she find an interest in it between when she gets her present and when her birthday comes around.

Ah. Well hopefully she picks up the hobby.

>tfw no music/art nerd gf.

I collect records, but damn I'd love a girl who was either into that, or drawing stuff.

...

Not him, but even independent stores' prices suck. The best I could find was Redeye. Otherwise, Discogs and face the 2-3 week shipping.

this

All the f# pressings have the flattened pennies

The true original release was a hand-numbered limited edition of 500

>turntable placed that close to the speaker

barely audiophile

you live near siren?

I honestly wouldn't consider vinyl 'materialistic.' The music is obviously digitally available, the act of acquiring it is more of a collector move. It's why I do it. I don't even have a functioning record player at the moment, but I will. Plus the nice-sized album art. Truly something worth collecting. Stamp-fags are stupid, but I get why you do it.

What speakers man?

Got those for 3$ last week

bump

Massive Attack - Mezzanine was the latest I bought.

Can't remember what was before that, could be Fugazi - Repeater, not sure.

too lazy to take pics, you already know what the covers look like

Where are you from? I've seen those apple prints on the old records everywhere around here.

>not available
HNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
how much did it cost?

I did pay 200 SEK for it, which is about 21 USD, but it's in good shape so I figured it was worth it, since I don't think it will show up in a lot of stores here in Sweden

Recent cops from past 2-3 months since I haven't posted in a while.

Side question: what's the most expensive record you've ever purchased? and if you sell records, what's the most you've ever sold one for?

Mine:
>purchased: I picked up a DJ Sprinkles vinyl sampler for $45 basically just so I could have one song (ball'r) on vinyl, which, in retrospect, is both defendable still and completely ridiculous
>sold: before I knew music or bought records I found an original 1967 recall press of The Velvet Underground + Nico with the banana sticker still fully intact at an antique store, bought it for $20, and stupidly sold it immediately
>got $250 for it so i was stoked
>now looking back after Lou Reed's death that could've been over $1000
>ugh
nice books but imo the tomlab press looks cooler (i just like that cover more)

ah jealous, been meaning to pick up grouper on vinyl (specifically this or dragging a dead deer)

But not usually does, clear pressings tend to sound much poppier than black

Just got Repulsion - Horrified and Bathory - Blood Fire Death

Mailman handed me these on Friday. Really good stuff.

the Opal record I've been trying to get my hands on since I started collecting. I thought it was NM but there's an ugly seam split on the jacket. Not too bad tho, because the record itself is in good condition.

F#A# was one of my first records; truly superior stuff.

This is uncanny... I picked up Sounds of Silence the other day at the record shop. I love S&G a lot; Still looking for a Wednesday Morning, 3 AM in good condish

I love that vince guaraldi record; is it a reissue? 'cause if it's an OG, it looks clean as hell

I'm down on the crosley but very much up on the Wet album.

Found this russian double lp with Revolver and Sgt Pepper for like $8 at my local store. Not the biggest Beatles fan, but considering the price and since i didnt have any of those albums i picked it up.

Clear edition of Preoccupations. I've got that TV Girl vinyl bundle and Toro y Moi's 'Blessa' 7" coming, too.

I see that Julianna Barwick release.....nice.

I think the priciest piece I've picked up was a copy of Music on Vinyl's clear edition of "The Moon & Antarctica" for like $44 off eBay. Sounds great!
Don't do any selling, though.

Top right?

here's some recent stuff i picked up

i actually just nabbed a copy of that charlie brown christmas record myself, but for some reason my postman decided to leave it outside my door at my apartment complex and it was stolen. nice records tho, especially love that album from the books.

ended up seeing julianna barwick a while back at a local venue and she was fantastic. a guy named mas ysa played an amazing opening set as well and ive been a fan ever since.

I payed way too much for the Scientist LP, but fuck it. I wanted the original Greensleeves pressing badly.

I usually like to binge on cheaper records (or make bundle deals) on records at record shows/sales. Some people i've bought from have great taste, so i trust their reccomendations when i'm like gimme something i've never heard of or i want something like _______. But, if i'm buying unplayed vinyl, it's usually one of my all time favorites. So for me it's about 2/3 random stuff, 1/3 favorites.

how about posting some setups?
