ITT: Albums You Don't Get

I really don't understand what draws people to this one. It's noisy, but there's not really anything of substance to back it up. The songs really aren't that memorable.

Well you better change that mind pronto.

If not listen to Fucking Songs and some punk and then come back

Or be really angry

It didn't click my first time listening until kerosene.

now its one of my fav albums.

>that disgusting guitar tone in the intro to Kerosene
Absolutely amazing. Lyrics depict the boredom of small town life too well.

Atomizer [Homestead, 1986]

This is the brutal guitar machine that thousands of lonely adolescent cowards have heard in their heads. Its creators were motivated to make this awful racket by the pain of the world, which they've learned about through fan mail and bondage magazines. They deserve credit for finding each other and making their obsession a reality. But not for anything else. B

Cancer

Does anyone actually take that retard seriously?

all the songs were 100% forgettable except for kerosene

kerosene is a masterpiece

frankly its just a bad album

try this one op. it has the same sound/noisy guitar tone, but the songs are super complex and mathy. best thing albini has done imo

...

Strawberry Jam
The Soft Bulletin
Doolittle
Pink Moon (I really want to like this one too)
Long Season
SILY
Illinois
Stratosphere
Bringing It All Back Home

My opinion of these range from "it's trash" to "alright but I don't see what the fuss is." In any case, you can't win em all I guess.

i dont have the real cover

IMO Pink Moon and Long Season are the only worthwhile albums on that list.

lol

long season is pure bliss
try 98.12.28 Otokotachi no Wakare, it has studio quality audio and starts with a set of their usual more normal songs before going into a 40 minute rendition of long season

two nuns and a pack mule is the best balance of big black and shellac for me. I also like songs about fucking, atomizer and action park are okay but just that for me

Atomizer (1985) was a sequence of shockwaves of industrial music, hardcore, heavy-metal, and horribly deformed rock'n'roll. In a stunning chaos of polyrhythms and dissonances, Albini told his macabre stories of deranged minds. The overall effect was similar to the suspence of a murder thriller (of a serial-killer thriller).
8.5/10

Stratosphere is a meme

>all these people suggesting to only listen to Kerosene
>saying every other track is forgettable

I'm sorry did we forget that Passing Complexion is also on the album

i can say that stratosphere is just depressing af and the gloominess is aching throughout
i don't get illinois either

I TELL MYSELF I WILL NOT GO

BLACK AND WHITE
LIKE THE WHOLE REST

NO ONE WOULD NOTICE

This desu

I'd say I prefer Shaggin Tunes in general though

If you don't get Pink Moon or Stratosphere you just haven't been depressed enough

Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
Songs for the Deaf
American Football
Is This It
Sunbather
Murmur

Lets not forget Bazooka Joe
>HANG WITH ME JOE HANG WITH ME JOE
>YOU DONT HAVE TO BE ALONE JOE

the lonesome crowded west

listen to the moon and antartica then try again

thank you, will do

Not that guy but that's one of the fucking most retarded things I've ever heard

...

Are you guys saying you "get" every single other album you've listened to?

I want to beat this faggot up

I legitimately "get" every album I listen to. it's not like its some feat of intelligence to do so.

yes but i've only listened to 4 albums my entire life so it's like i got 75% you know

no way, you've listened to 4 full albums
???
i new a guy who did that but he was crazy

>The songs really aren't that memorable.
I think it's one of the most memorable Shoegaze albums actually:
>THIS IS JORDAN WE DO WHAT WE LIKE
>HE HAD WHAT THEY CALLED PASSING COMPLEXION
>KEROSENE AROUND NOW WHAT DO WE DO?
>KEROSENE AROUND SET ME ON FIRE!
>LATELY I HAVE BEEN FREQUENTING BAD HOUSES
>FISTS OF LOOOOVE
>WELCOME BACK JOE WELCOME BACK JOE
>CABLES! CABLES!

>Atomizer
>Shoegaze
Atomizer is Noise Rock and Post-Hardcore
Shoegaze is Noise Pop/Rock + Dream Pop

how the fuck could you possibly confuse this with shoegaze

is there something to get or was it just a poppy letdown filled out with mediocre ambient

Did I listen to too much Big Black and Drive Like Jehu before this? Every time I try listening to a Fugazi album it just sounds so uninteresting.

It's a meme
Have you not seen it before?

yeah and also this one time i randomly made a toast lol
carpe gim my man

wow man your wild,
how do yourer do it?

it's just my father said one day youre leave this world behind so leave a life that you remember...........
these are the nights that never die so they dont even have to live a life they will remember

can I use this quote? It's really inspirationle and beautiful

yeah print it on your gravestone

...

nice.
Dude are you dead

well yeah, how else would i have a gravestone

for printing awesome messages on them obviously

I enjoyed 13 songs but Repeater has been bland despite multiple listens.

I have the same exact issue.
Fugazi seems so fucking bland when you've been a decade-old fan of Jehu or Albini's earlier stuff.

>Long Season
>SILY

What is it you don't get about these? I listen to them fairly regularly
