When are you going to stop pretending rock was a major genre?
When are you going to stop pretending rock was a major genre?
>50 years old and still more varied than all these
Damn
>Folk is the oldest form of music
>everything else is a blip because it hasn't been around as long as folk
>All other forms of music are worthless because they haven't been around as long as folk
It's also the least creative and leasr expansive of all those.
almost all of those genres have developed beyond recognition over that time
except one
If you think rock is more varied than all of these other genres you don't listen to some of these genres enough
which one user?
So jazz was a blip 50 years ago? R&B was a blip in the 1980s?
In over 200 countries utilising every instrument, spearheading every major genre and basically inventing music.
do i really need to say it
Rock is dead, it only lasted 50 years before running out of creativity.
yeah
what are you even talking about
>over that time
yeah, I bet folk music evolved a ton from the year 1300 to 1350
>Electronic music older than rock
¿¿¿¿¿¿¡
Why did you think this post was worth taking a screencap of?
what
have you any idea how long folk music has existed
Folk is everything pre-1900 that wasn't classical. It's not just Bob Dylan white-man-and-acoustic shit.
just saying you're comparing 50 years of rock's evolution to centuries of folk
what's your point, I never said anything against that?
oh i see
well, mass media wasn't exactly a thing was it
Stockhausen, Schaffer, Halim El-Dabh
folk is just rock music but unamplified
i mean...........................think about it
it's been around since the early 1900s
Just pointing out it's not just an age thing, it's the most varied of the list
>Electronische musik
>Musique Concrete
It started with composers who were tired of old instruments somewhere in the 1930s-1940s
tru
that's true but there were electronic instruments before that, things like telharmonium and trautonium etc
How's your first week on Sup Forums going?
All of the other geners in OPs image are dead too
>ss from july
1. Rock has been around since about 1950, which is 66 years. Basic math?
2. Rock hasn't "run out of creativity" considering there are still tons of original, creative rock musicians and there will probably continue to be forever. Just like there are still/will continue to be original, creative folk, classical, jazz, R&B, and electronic artists.
you made a good point though desu
i was mentally comparing it to electronic music over the same time, not that it improved necessarily, maybe a bit in some ways and not others
what?
blues has been around since at least the 20s, which makes it well over 80
Which would be covered by ryhthm & BLUES.
Rhythm and Blues is it's own genre
this. what a pleb
Then so would blues be.
>electronic
>80
>rock music
>50
Yes.
