Imagine a future where everyone has the option to upload into a drone body. The drone constantly maintains and repairs itself, can withstand crushing pressure, heat, and force, and if it should somehow suffer catastrophic damage the consciousness of its host can be wirelessly transmitted to a "save point" or "safe area" through a global network that might even extend through space to planets that have been colonized. Everything is free because the drone bodies can be set into "work mode" while the inhabitant fucks around in cyberspace, if specialized machines aren't already taking care of everything. The only living humans are those who decide not to upload for religious or ontological reasons, and if a pair of uploaded decide to have offspring they can harvest DNA from cryogenically preserved samples of their blood or tissues and grow a designer baby in artificial placentas.
Death, disease, pain, disability, pleasure, and senescence are all optional. We are only limited by the machinations of our elite, our own abilities, current technology, the laws of physics, and the availability of resources.
