I'm obsessed with Aphex Twin and people that make very original music (each song/album is distinctly different from the last)

can you recommend me similar artists/albums of any genre?

Ignore the rest

Shiina Ringo is fantastic, this

YMO. They went from funky electro to being one of the first bands to ever use samplers, to making some of the greatest synthpop ever. Richard himself even said he was influenced by them, and it's easy to see why:

Genres their discography encompasses include:
>bleep techno
>ambient house
>experimental electro
>IDM
>trip-hop
>big beat
>progressive trance
>wonky techno
>dubstep

The Brown Album and In Sides are their most established works but honestly their whole discography is worth checking out.

Def a quintessential rec if you're into Aphex and Autechre's more ambient beat stuff.

As someone who listens to Warp's "big three" religiously, I have weird feelings towards OPN's work. I like Returnal, and Garden of Delete is one of my favorite albums of all time, but Replica and R+7 make me really uncomfortable for some reason, to the point where I don't enjoy listening to them at all.

AnCo unironically right up to Centipede Hz. These days they put out exactly what you would expect them to, sadly.

Phil Elverum.

While each album has similar themes, the music can range from folk, black metal, or ambient. Each album seems to create it's own world and atmosphere, one of the most rewarding discographies to go through.

I like aphex twin and btbam.

dean blunt - black metal

Aphex hasn't really pushed any boundaries since Drukqs, Autechre is actually what you're describing. They are literally still experimenting & improving with every release.

Foetus
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Frank Zappa
Sun City Girls
Ween
Boris
Can
Pink Floyd
The Velvet Underground

are what immediately comes to mind

Infected Mushroom
Venetian Snares
Pink Floyd

Snivilisation is fucking AMAZING too.

they've literally only changed their style significantly once when they went from amber to tri repetae. The level of hyperbole some autechre fans employ for aven the most subtle changes between their albums is straight up annoying. Aphex Twin has VASTLY different sounding albums and songs. Shut the fuck up already. Jesus.

>doesn't get any success in /gg/
>tries to hijack other threads in order to get attention
Please get a trip you're hilarious.

I haven't listened to anything but Snivilisation and it's bloody great, got the exact same feeling as Aphex's SAW 85-92.

Are We Here? Is my favourite song of theirs. It's really staggeringly beautiful, in that second half.

wew

well, definitely not aphex twin

Coil

>they've literally only changed their style significantly once when they went from amber to tri repetae
lmao

if you can't even see the progression between the tri and confield era you need to stop listening to this kind of music, try listening to something more easily digestible like foo fighters

K1T

I completely disagree with you. I love love love r+7 but hate GoD with a passion.

what about untilted
what about oversteps
what about exai

>Aphex Twin
>original

lmao

Biosphere is pretty good about each album having its own aesthetic. Not to mention he is one of the greats

>Not to mention he is one of the greats

But you did mention it.

>Richard himself even said he was influenced by them
When? Link?

>suggesting guitar music

lel

Brian Eno

he was 10x better when doing his spaced themed stuff

shit taste

Yep, you do have, braindead loser.

>she can't appreciate his latest classic
That's womemes for ya!

never said i didnt enjoy it, said other stuff is better

Why are you all such embryos? Are you not embarrassed by how little you know about music?

This chart is shit, I mean u got Dead Cities but no Lifeforms? B12's Electro Soma and Time Tourist are missing too.
Also two Gas albums which are not that good honestly.

>dat EQ
man sure was a genius

Knowing lots about music doesn't make you rich, powerful or get you laid, so who gives a fuck. You're just a music nerd, nerd.

Where the fuck is Underworld

>saying they're "doing exactly what you would expect them to" judging from a single (good) pop album that sounds like nothing else they've ever done
what are you doing, user
those are two different artists called Gas
also
>Wolfgang Voigt's Gas
>not that good
user pls

Maybe this is obvious, but Björk clearly makes a serious effort to make sure each album/"era" is different from the last.

at best the only two albums you could say they didn't change much between are Incunabula and Amber, and even then they changed a lot. also RDJ has basically been making variants on his post-Druqks acid sound for like a decade now, the only exception being the CCAI EP.

Tried to limit it to one album from each artist fool
There's some exceptions (biosphere & fires of ork + dark side of the moon and fires of ork) but that's mostly because they are collaboration albums so I thought I'd chuck them in there
They're more techno than ambient techno

Björk
