I couldn't get into Lucero though
It certainly does, but there a handful of other artists that do a pretty good job at making some songs that capture the spirit of blood meridian. Like Tom Waits, Jose Gonzales, and maybe Neil Young.
Dirty 3?

Jimmy Carter Syndrome by Jay Munly
It has unexpected, brief, and graphic references to violence and sex the context of beautiful and mesmerizing folk music. Very eerie tone overall, it doesn't let you get comfortable just like Blood Meridian
