I wouldn't even consider Yume Bitsu third wave, it came out in 1999.

lol forgot image

ok, so i'm on 2000s post-rock, rec me all your favorite post-rock albums from the year 2000 so I can listen to them.

So far on the list:
He has left us by A Silver Mt. Zion

Flood by Boris

Prospekt by Circle

American Don by Don Caballero

Lift yr. Skinny Fists by GYBE

A Spectrum of Infinite Scale by Man or Astro Man

The For Carnation

Ego Echo by Ulan Bator

Cold Times by Rada i Ternovnik

Daily reminder that Louisville post-rock is best post-rock

it's almost like defining music by "waves" as if the year it comes out has something to do with its content is fucking stupid

The louisville/chicago post-rock scene put out some of the greatest post-rock records ever

>A Spectrum of Infinite Scale
This is a fun one. I wish more post-rock were like this. I'd also recommend their 1999 album EEVIAC if you have not heard it already.

Anyway, I'd add Under Thunder and Fluorescent Lights by Storm & Stress to your list.

I wasn't that huge on A Spectrum of Infinite Scale, though I'd give it that it was pretty interesting for what it is.

Also, I forgot about Under Thunder and Fluorescent Lights, I've been wanting to listen to that for a while now

Macha Loved Bedhead

Dirty Three - Whatever You Love, You Are
Do Make Say Think - Goodbye Enemy Airship
Explosions in the Sky - How Strange, Innocence
HiM - Our Point of Departure
Oxes - Oxes
Pan American - 360 Business
Paul Newman - Machine Is Not Broken
Southpacific - Constance

These are not as post-rock as the others, but:

Calexico - Hot Rail
Calla - Scavengers
Early Day Miners - Placer Found
Movietone - The Blossom Filled Streets

13 blues for thirteen moons - thee silver mt. zion

Grails is the only decent third wave band

what about battlestations

Never heard of them desu. Will listen

I wonder what Sup Forums thinks of MONO. They're the only third-wave post rock band I like.

I enjoy them, but I also like a lot of third wave bands

Saw them live a while ago with alcest, it was a great show (alcest was disappointing tho)

>niggas don't know about The Evpatoria Report

I'm fully aware that post-rock was only able to go so far, but this album is so good

frames - IN VIA

Wang Wen - Eight Horses

>The For Carnation

You're not gonna regret it, fantastic album.

Yes, this and Yndi Halda are excellent third wave post-rock.

I would recommend this band. They're not exclusively post rock though.

Yndi Halda's latest record was fucking great

>Yndi Halda
Fucking this. I love Under Summer.

I wasn't a fan of the album the first time I listened to it. I'll listen to it again though

Best recent third wave album IMO. Actually makes use of quiet droning moments, samples and field recordings, unlike Explosions and their clones. Even if they aren't quite as good as GYBE they sound more like a very late second wave post rock band than a third waver.

I still think Grails is the best third wave, but this is probably second. I got really emotional listening to this knowing about the tragedy of the singer.

secret GOAT

Something about it to me just seems like such a natural step forward from spiderland, and just like that album it took a few listens to actually get it. But it's a really great record. I genuinely think it rivals Spiderland. Sure it isn't nearly as iconic or forward pushing but it is in terms of quality

Best third wave bands desu

I meant their debut. I didn't really like their new release. Maybe I should give it another try

yeah
